You see, it's not a matter of kissing anyone's feet. It's about adopting a non-emotional, fact-based response to allegations. Some CCP officials' responses on these forums have delved into questioning the motives and intentions of accusers. This is pointless speculation (as pointless, in fact, as the initial allegations against CCP may very well be, I add) that serves only to make it seem like there is indeed a bias against a player alliance.
I'm a fairly new player. After reading these forums, including CCP employee responses, I and any other new player can glean enough text and subtext to firmly establish that some CCP employees apparently don't like Goonswarm or its leadership. Yes, some employees may even hate them, for slights both real and perceived.
Now, this emotion (perhaps justified, in some sort of cosmic, final justice sense, yes) doesn't in and of itself mean that CCP is *acting* in a biased fashion against Goonswarm, but it sure does make it seem more plausible, doesn't it? And that just doesn't seem like a good idea for a company that relies on its customers' faith in its ability to run a fair game.
Advice to CCP: Ask your employees to remember in all of their official communications that reading all kinds of devilish intentions into your accusers' actions and manifesting a hostile attitude towards them calls into question your ability to act as an impartial referee. It ought to be enough to rebut the accusations in a neutralist, fact-based manner. No need to question intentions or motivations.
Sorry but that is a complete cop out. The actions referred to were malicious in the extreme and had potential (and may still have potential) to damage CCPs reputation, the reputation of the game, and therefore the profitability of the business. Any soundly run business would be mightily hacked off at this tyope of behaviour and slurs against their employees, and would act, if necessary, to protect itself accordingly. If that includes examining the possibility of legal action against people attacking forums, libelling well respected employees and posting groundless allegations on other sites (or indeed publishing those allegations) its hardly surprising or unusual.
