I think the pirates need to accept the fault for low security being a complete wasteland in terms of player occupance. You've over preyed your targets, and now they've adapted to new, greener fields. Maybe if you laided low for a few months to a year, people might start flying out to low sec again to make some ISK.
Until then, don't get too bored playing with yourselves  .

Lay low for a year?! What do you suggest we do during that time?
It's not like we can come into highsec is it?
And for the record, I never get bored playing with myself.

I made around 200m isk yesterday pirating in low sec, and had some very excellent fights in doing so. I'll lay low when the servers shut down for the last time. Don't get too bored sucking rocks in highsec.
And by the way, I rule you.

Considering I asked a fair ransom for a 220mil ISK ship, he would have been hugely better off ^^

Why not? I fit the bill of a consultant perfectly; I don't know what I'm talking about, I don't care for the people effected and I just wanna get paided.

I agree that some pirates are to blame. There are perhaps a few too many folk wanted the yaaaar all the time. Think of this as over-fishing. If it becomes really risky to enter and 'work' (mine, rat, build type stuff) around lo-sec, so-one bothers. It becomes risky directly because of the pirates. They blow your ship up.
Economies always have this ebb and flow to them. If pirating people in lo-sec is entirely unprofitable, some pirates will turn back to other activities at least for a while.
From the other side though, isn't the whole point of the corp system to allow people to go into lo-sec, as a group and support each other? So, to the industrials, miners, etc etc ('carebears' in pirate speak ) - grow a spine, form/join corps and give as good as you get. |

Yes I'm altposting. Ive lived in lowsec most of my eve-life. Pirates arent so much an immovable obstacle as they are a spice to your environment. Its allways fun playing tag with the dark brethen. Sure they cloak, hide if you blob, but what the hell when im in my mission-boat i station hug til i get backup, fit a scram or wait for backup. The only times ive gotten killed by pies in low sec is when
A) I was ****** level stupid
B) Engaged in a fight a choose but shouldnt have
C) A combination of the above
I dont know i might be lucky but I dont see pies as the ever looming menace that keeps ppl from lowsec. Carebear mentality does. To be somewhat safe in low sec you have to kil threats, when a dude with killmails in his bio and a sec of -4.9 that you dont know you kill him (or get killed) you dont assume its a friendly missionrunner?
And when a group of 3-5 -10 ppl jump in well then you either bust out that bs blob or gather all ya friends in a bunch of expendable ships and engage.
Low sec is populated otherwise pirates would be poor. Some pirates camp in faction BS, hence they are not poor.

Today we had atleast 10 BOB flying around, then outa the blue we had TRI, EVOKE, BOB all in the same system at once (gehi), and theyre all targets....

You're either a troll, or a complete moron. Alliance warfare is, IMO, the most boring part of the game. It takes up hours and hours of your time, you're nearly constantly lagged out, and the fights you do get after 2-3 hours sitting on the same gate are mostly boring. Alliance and POS warfare make the game become like work, you have to log on to refuel this POS, gotta get up for when those POSes come out of reinforced etc, especially if you're fighting someone like BoB.
The reason low sec is so quiet is because you can make more isk in high sec and 0.0. Risk vs reward my ass.

thats fine... but like the op said, you guys essentially over did it... and now you don't have the targets you want. he's just put forward the solution available (ccp might change things someday, but until then this really is your only option to encourage people to return to low sec)... if you're not willing to do what is necessary to bring your targets back its no one's fault but your own.
