Why you dont rent from BOB

Larena Larich	Posted - 2007.06.04 20:51:00 - [1] I was once in a renter corp deep in BOB space we lived there we livd and died defending the space while never seeing bob bothing to try and defend it themselves. Then one day a bunch of local renter corps created an alliance and offered bob a better deal a 10 billion isk deal a month to rent the region without any "competition" from other renter corps, ie exclusive access. What did that leave us with? Well by the time we ound out about the deal it was far too late of course, however the new renters did offer us a great deal of total absorbtion into their main corps, of course in the process destroying the corp many of us had built from scratch 2 years before. We complained to bob and asked for time to leave.. We was given the option of paying a entire month up front instead of the weekly way we had been with no access to the belts apart from one out of the 20 we had access to before. We also had to take down our pos's. IE 1.5 billion to rent one crokite belt 4 jumps from our pos's or nearest station. We basically were given one week "blue status" to leave an area we had bled to protect and had called home believing in the BOB = Stability lie. We moved out and in the rush lost much of our kit and ships in gate camps we had to run on a daily basis to get kit out. We eventually resettled and rented in oposing space only to be steam rolled by BOB's invasion and subsequent expulsion yet again. Do not rent from bob you are meat shields, the only actually police force holding all their territory for them and you will be shat on the moment a better deal comes by.

I only pay 1 million isk a month for an individual nonexclusive/neutral player rate special. I can make that up in no time and you get the Weekly BoB newsletter which includes good tips on ship buildouts, news on the front etc...

From experience, I have found that is what BoB does. For example with FIX, when we didn't seem to be utilizing our region as effectively and were slacking, they sometimes would "scare" us by throwing more renters in our direction. For example, Gunboat Diplomacy was given exclusive access to the constellation where H74 station was, formerly our space! On one hand, we almost never used this area of Querious, so most people didn't care. On the other hand, it basically said to us that we had to get off our butts and do a better job. And we did, and we now have 4 outposts, and we now own H74 station I highly doubt BoB's main interest in renting is ISK; the reason they do it is because their brains would explode if they were forced to fuel POSs to hold a dozen regions and defend them from raiding parties 24/7. The better solution is to either allow an existing alliance in the region to defend it for free (Firmus Ixion) or charge a new alliance/corporation to live there (renters). --23 Member--

I don't understand what the big problem is. You pay rent in an apartment because you can't build your own apartment. "oh we must not have been defending our masters space properly, we have been punished for our sins and must kiss ass more graft harder and do more territory defence for them" Not "the búst%rds repay us like this!! WHAT!!" The truth is you dont need BOB, no rental region of space does most people never even see a bob fleet. They do however end up fight and defending the place as if they have actually earned the right to live there by defending it entirely themselves. Of course bob is all about isk, isk = PVP fun without the need to graft and at the end of the day if you are a game designer thats probably exactly the kind of perk you are looking for. The good bits with none of the bad. The only reason you need bob is to give station access as the guy above said you dont ned to pay bob to make isk in bob space it is not exactly well defended once you get past the choke points. FIX defened that region FIX took back that area and FIX is the reason you own your old station again how much did bob help hu? Did they watch from a distance and say well done you have pleased us you may now live there again after defending it and taking it back from the invaders? Bob do nothing but rake in isk based mainly on reputation, the Tenants are bobs power not bob.

But erm this is not the way it is, in fact it is like paying rent for an apartment then a bunch of guys turn up at your door yelling tht they want your room, you then have to fight these guys off daily with a baseball bat to keep your "rented" room. Then if one guy gets in a actually manages to smash up a few tables your landlord then fines you. As for corp ticker I am talking for myself and do not want to cause my old corpmates any hassle.

FIX technically did not "own" the area "taken" from us--BoB at the time claimed Querious and gave us access to it for free. Things have changed now, of course--we now hold the majority of Querious and the vast majority of stations. --23 Member--

My corp still exists which is why I will not post with my main to express my own personal opinions. But yes bob in reality is just a very small group with the best ships in the game and all the game time in the world to pvp as they do not need to mine or rat. Stop renting and fight back! stop letting 50 guys who have been in this game from the very start play you all and run everything while you do all the grafting for them.
