Asking for a "guide to 0.0 history" is like asking for a book on the history of the world. It can be done but your brain would melt far before you could finish it. I'd recommend just finding a couple alliances that interest you, whether they be major players like Red Alliance or just amusing ones like IAC and reading their history.
To put it into context, the goon condensed shortened abbreviated version of our own corp history is over 3 pages long, and that's without all the propaganda and circle...self-promoting you'd find elsewhere
(with all that stuff ours blossoms to 20-30 pages)

I looked into that eve-tribune, and as far as information goes it seems to be alright, however the writers (or the ones I read) are very heavily biased. Read the commentary about the recent dev scandal

Warfare in Eve and in particular 0.0 is ever changing my best advice for 0.0 is 'teamwork' the ability to be kicked to the floor and stand back up,the skill and dedication to work towards a goal or vision without letting setbacks or obstacles get in your way,
and finally move forward instead of backwards embracing change.

RKK's history is a very good tip,
I can also recommend eve-history.net (work in progress) for the past,
and eve-tribune.com for the present,
Blacklight's blogs also got some good reading.
Thats the best online sources I can remember at the moment.
Most of the alliance history is undocumented tho,
and the COAD archive is probably the best source for info , but digging thru all the spam and necro posts is hiddeous work

When you think about life in 0.0 and an alliance you want to join, try not to be anti-BoB, anti-GS, none of that. Join the public channels of corps/alliances you consider and get to know the guys first, because a move to 0.0 can be costly if it's not with the right people.
Just my two cents being a recent carebear turned pvp-er. I'll never go back to the carebear way of life. |
