I understand your frustration... several here with useless replies are the same muppets that have no class in-game. Being here 4+ years myself, I have watched this game grow... the ups and downs... and you are 100% right. The love here sucks, however, its not the majority... there's a small population of selfish, childish, middle aged men who don't care... they want easy tactics, scams, and griefs. God knows why... we can only guess its their pathetic life in the real world that drives them.
But learning to deal with it is far easier than letting them think they make a difference. I meet many piewats that smack talk, I simply ignore them, I even dock and watch a movie... when I come back they wrote 30 lines on how uber they are and made me sit a station. They don't know... they get cheap thrills. Funny part is when I undock in carrier, they run. Their like little bullies with big egos... its a selfish game for them, they're not part of the community, and its best to ignore them. Heck, even block them. No sense in being any part of what they say or do.
I hope you reconsider and look at them as a joke... what they truly are. If not, take a break... I've taken many long 2-3 months absences.

If someone in a system asked me if i wanted 1v1 i wouldn't go along to wherever it was they asked me, i treat eve like i would the real world... if somone who i don't know and wants to shoot and kill me asks me to go somewhere... i wouldn't.. and if felt the need to fight them, i would do it on my terms... apply some logic to the situation... don't trust ANYONE especially not in eve..
And there is nothing wrong with scamming, it can be highly amusing and its the persons fault for falling for it tbh

There is No HONOR left in the game, its all about greifing people at this point.
I shouldn't have to work my butt off for a good ship then lose it to nasty people whose whole intentions are to grief other people for there own sick pleasure than be smacked in local on top of it.
I am officially after 4 years 100% Burnt out.
I will be canceling my subscription within the next 10 minutes.
As for my stuff, Tough sh17, its going down with the ship
I will be waiting for a game that comes out with a more mature population.
If you give me ur stuff.. I shall .. Stand up for whats right & give those horrible nasty boys a peace of my mind.. honest..

Interesting, in seven months of playing I've been ganked about a dozen times. Only a chicken**** outfit of low sec gankers from Hydra Alliance ever said anything ******** in local.
Heck, an ENH pilot gave me friendly rant complaining about me jumping into an asteroid belt full of NPC rats that made his attack more annoying than it had to be, and an Outbreak pilot sent me an email explaining a detail about warp bubbles that was confusing to me (that despite there being an overview setting for them, they actually don't show up and can't be targeted).
Hell, even Goonswarm didn't smack when they jumped me...
The lesson's been pretty clear. The longer I stick in 0.0, the more I like the Alliances that work there. Most of the sewer rats seem to have clumped in low sec.

Well the original poster has one thing right:
the players in EVE are getting worse and worse in general. The dredge of gaming society as it were, and all thanks to the mentality of the game (and the players who insist on keeping it that way)
A nice capital L should be painted on each of thier foreheads.
But anyways, that's just a whine. Doesn't mean much, and it gets lost on them anyways. Don't delete in anger. Take a break like some sane people (I think there's a few of them left playing, mostly we stick to high sec and not Jita) have suggested.
If you don't feel that way, throw a few isk my way. If not, try a better game where people aren't jerks and the game is designed around them.
Should be a few coming out soon.

I really don't understand how you could play this game for so long and get upset with smacktalk in local. For me, I prefer to say GF in local after a fight. Sometimes I would get smacktalked but I could care less. Sometimes I have smacktalked but not abusively.
You shouldn't let smack talk upset you so much. I don't care what anyone says about my pvp prowess or the size of my e-peen. I have this thing called self esteem. I know who and what I am and no amount of smack talk is going to change that. Not one bit.
I can agree the amount of scammers out there is ludicrous though. I have only fell for a scam once and will never be scammed again. But scamming is a part of the game and there's a multitude of ways not to get scammed.
But quite possibly this is not the game for you. I don't want CCP to bring out the ban stick everytime someone trys to hurt my itty bitty feelings. Let them smacktalk, it's harmless. Remember: someone cannot hurt your feelings without your consent. This is EVE. It's part of the landscape. If I didn't want to hear smacktalk or profanity or whatever, I would be playing EQ2.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that there (Generally) there was some purpose to ganking, such as piracy, territorial protection, or philosophical conflict. Today it's just gank for ganks sake and it is boorish.
Post gank used to include if not "GF", at least some intelligent, somewhat witty stealth smack. Today it's "duh bwahaha n00b!" and it is also boorish.
Players that have been around for a few years understand what it meant to find a game where the average intelligence was well above average in the gaming world, and how badly it sucks to have it reduced to CS in Space. Getting ganked is one thing. Wasting time on idiots with nothing better to do is quite another
All of the counters to the OP's post apply, but doesn't change the fact that there are now more *******s in EVE than ever and it reduces the experience for everyone, including the legitimate, purpose driven pirates and anarchists that bring with them some IC context, other than going from tutorial---> turd.
