Sharkbait has a new Dev Blog providing some insight into the recent disconnects a number of the EVE community have been experiencing while on Tranquility. In short, we are looking at the possibility that the issues are outside CCP assets and ask for the community's assistance in tracking down the cause.
For more information, please read Concerning the Recent Tranquility Connectivity Issues.

Hello.
I dunno if this is of interest or not.
I run two accounts on the same comp and usually only one drops out at any given time. It's rare if ever that they both drop out and thats only been when theres been a system wide crash. Further, its consistantly been the same account.
Its not a big deal to me, just a nuisance and I've noticed that its been more frequent in the last week or two.

For me its something weird. I have 2 computers, most of the time running Eve. In about 99% of the cases where I lose connection, its just 1 of the two that drops.

I am in the same boat...
Sharkbait,
If I get disconnected on 1, do you want me to run the trace on both?

Please run the trace on both systems (if you are able to do so) and please make sure you let us know which is the route of the computer that dropped. Granted, we should be able to determine that if one of the routes is shorter than the other, but better to be safe than sorry.

Every time I've been disconnected Tracert has revealed a broken link before I get to the EvE cluster.
No, I didn't write the IP address down, but it has effected both home and work (tested via tunnel) which connect to different main Internet nodes (Seattle, WA and Portland, OR) <-----------> Factional Warfare:

please log them and mail them us. once we can find out where this problem is, we can contact the ISP involved (if it's not our fault) and speak to them about the problems. we are also in contact with our ISP and they are doing everything possible to help solve this.
thx

Exactly the same thing happens to me. Running two accounts on one computer and one account will drop while the other keeps going.
Very strange. Usually I can log back in immediately on the dropped connection.

check that your processor or graphics card is not overheating. maybe check fan's and airways for dust or other blockage. thats a common problem tbh

i'm not sure if this is the same problem i'm describing, but in the past few days i've noticed a few instances of corpmates dual-accounting with characters in different regions mentioning that one of the characters dropped, cannot log in, and the other is still connected. This continues with half the people on teamspeak asking if the server is up and the other half talking about this guy they're killing. it seemed to be related to what region they are in on TQ.
sorry i can't be more helpful then that.

I have the same problem, and my pc runs cool ie less than 40 degrees C at the CPU..
Cant your (CCPs) service provider ping out from the server locations to all major citys. As this seems to be a major problem for a business of your type. And tbh i bet you pay your ISP a small fortune a month for your huge connection. When your (CCPS) contract comes up it might be worth re-negotiating it so that the ISP is responsable (sp) for connection issues, putting more onto them to make sure things are routed correctly.

My clients will disconnect if there is no data going between my clients and EVE server. For example if I'm in 0.0 or low-sec in some deserted syste m where's very little or no traffic and no one's saying anything in alliance/corp chat my clients will disconnet. That started to happen when Revelations came out. Only workaround I've found is to open some high traffic chat channels :) This doesn't happen when I'm connected from my work, so I guess my ISP is to be blamed for this but you could also make somekind of ping system in EVE so that atleast some data would move when nothing's happening.

yesterday I had 2 of thoses weird disconnections. I was running 2 accounts on the same PC, in the morning, 1 disconnected 2 times while the other didnt in the evening, same thing, other players in the same system experienced a lag spike but didnt disconnect.
I'll try to run a ping tool if that happen again. ------ COLSUP |

If you have missed it I will repost what I wrote in one of the "server down" threads.
Posted - 2007.06.12 06:49:00 - [14] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking with pingplotter it seem that the ccp.ve201.fr3.lon.llnw.net note is were the connection fails. After getting DCed I checked and the connection ended to the node before then, then I was rerouted throug Chicago (or at least that semeed the address, there was a chi. or chic. in the name) and got the connection back. Now it is again using ccp.ve201.fr3.lon.llnw.net .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope someone here can help me: I have installed the freeware version of pingplotter some time ago, but I don't see how I can save the data.
It is possible or I need to buy a more complete version?

I'm also a dual account user and, like many people in this thread, it is common for one account to drop and the other continue playing just fine. The dropped account has no trouble reconnecting.

I don't belive the recent connection losses are CCP's fault, or within thier control.
My evidence for this; When eve disconnects, all of my programs lose connection. I have other friends in the South of the UK suffering the same problems (yet North and Scotland seem ok).
One very strange thing is that my router doesn't detect any losses in connection?!?

Just a comment regaring some of the disconnects - and the last one's the other nite.
I may have up to 3 clients running at the same time on the same computer. On a 2Mbit SDSL connection, on a pretty up to date computer (E6700 DC2, 8800GTX, gigabit ethernet nic & gigabit managed switches).
Funny thing is that I've experienced 2 of my characters being disconnected, while 1 was still able to stay logged on. All 3 chars were sitting in the same station.
Interesting ...

Edited by: Vana Gank on 13/06/2007 14:55:47 Not sure if it's relevant, but regarding the "Sisi connectivity" we tried to give you at CCP some more information a little while back.
It was the same sort of things happening - 1 person could use his character on TQ, but not on Sisi. When some other player tested they could connect to Sisi, but not the first player. (Okai, a couple of the incidents indicated that it was the player's ISP, but not the rest).

Edited by: Imhothar Xarodit on 13/06/2007 18:26:31 I noticed that when being idle on Singularity for a certain time (like 30 minutes or so), as soon as I do something (open market, move ship, activate mod etc) that requires server response, I get disconnected.
Is this a build-in feature on the test server? I'm asking just to avoid starting tracerts when it is a wanted feature.

I also run two computers with two accounts. TeamSpeak on the 2nd computer. When one account drops, the other usually stays up and TeamSpeak is never affected.

Okai, I would like to add another "one drops, but not the other".
As of right now - I came back after idling (took a nap on the sofa). I had 3 accounts running on the same computer, and 2 of the accounts had dropped. The third was still online.
While I was away 2 things have happened: - The monitor saver had kicked in (no, not the screensaver - but the monitor auto backlight saver). - Skill training for 2 of tha accounts had been completed.
Now, Im starting to wonder. This happened the other nite too (2 days ago). When one of the other accounts had completed a skill (and I was semi-active at that time, so no saver had kicked in) it also lost connection. But in both cases EveMon has been running as well.
In any case, I've had disconnects under the current circumstance tonite: - Between 17:00 - 20:45 GMT - On 2 of 3 accounts on the same computer - Evemon was running, and skills completed on 2 of the chars that lost connection. - Internet connection in general hasnt been lost, I've got TS + IRC online to see that there was no connectivity loss from my ISP.
Report compiled and sent to [email protected] together with traces as well.

Oops, while I was typing that report, changing skills and running pingplotter - it happened again. The *very* same 2 accounts dropped, and the 3'rd stayed online. Im including my findings in my report on mail.

Edited by: Lebowske on 13/06/2007 22:21:06 Just for the public record, happened again. Tested with a short skill training - at completion, the skill sat there "Completion imminent". Then I reopened the char-sheet just to be disconnected.
Opening any other windows requiring connectivity would have given the same effect (such as market, or other station services).
I've updated my email for ccp.
EDIT, for the record - I doubt taht this is in any way related to the BIG hickups we saw the other day. --------------------

one account but massive disconnects making gameplay near impossible. I responded as requested in the blog and the email is on its way. I hope it helps fix these problems.
The results however were highly odd. Specificly the last 3 lines i honestly expected the last one however odd it is. However the other two... Well this could be the cause of the problem in general... maybe.

I had lots of disconnections last couple of days. Yesterday night though and between 21.00gmt and 01.00 i managed to play without problems. Then i went to sleep. Today i get massive disconnections once more :(
In game i am into an area without lots of traffic.I connect from Greece (Tellas ISP) . My line is ADSL 2mbps/256. My configuration is p4 2.6(HT), 6600GT 128, 1GB ram WIN XP PRO SP2 with all patches. This time i ll erase all cashe and disable the one virtual processor and see what happens. (although this was not a problem before)
Some more info on the exact situation when i lose connection.
1) When i lose connection the rest of internet works fine without any disconnections.
2) Immediatly after the disconnection sometimes for some seconds the server status shows nothing so i have to close the program and retry after 2-3 minutes.Usually when this happens i can't also open open your EVE page for 2-3 minutes while i can open every other internet page. Other times though i can.
3) Other times i can reconnect immediatly and server status demonstrates immediatly the number of players on.And Eve page works fine. Since it was ok 3 days before i suspect that maybe something you changed last 3 days may causing it.
