How much would I expect to pay to hire a merc to kill someone?

Seriously, tho....going rates vary, depending on whether you want a simple assassination or a corp purged. Back when I was "In the Biz" we basically used to charge just the wardec rates for corp or alliance, but then again, we always did look for an excuse to kill people. We'd really need some more info on who/what/where/ship type etc to get a better benchmark for you.

Depends on the nature of the merc corp.
Depends on what the target is.
Depends on where the target is.
Depends on a lot of things, find a merc corp, ask them for a price.

yup, as has already been stated, it depends a lot on the nature of the job (whether the target is in a player corp, high sec or low sec, what ship they usually fly.. etc)
