Today I have encountered the most ridiculous piece of PvP I could have ever imagined. I mean there is unfair gankage and all that, but this was just something out of this world. We ended up loosing 2 BSĘs to over twenty support ships and 5 carriers. After loosing in such a way, I was really ****ed off, but wouldnĘt have posted a whining thread about this. However, what the winning corp wrote in local channel and how they justified this fight and also the inability to do anything made me really frustrated and pushed me far enough to post this. So here how it goes.
Me and my friends have been roaming around low secs in a small gang of our newly bought ships. These were a Rokh, Armageddon, Falcon and a Malediction, nothing outstanding that could have cought so much attention. Trying to get some fun and fair fighting we spend over an hour flying around empty systems and we finally end up a 0.4 with a few guys from the same corp in local. There we sit on a gate when a Dominix, Myrmidon and some recon ship start locking us and clearly seem like they want to play. I happily start fighting back as soon as they aggress us. Everything seems to go as it should be going, we clearly start winning over these guys, I hold my tank solidly and falcon keep these ships jammed, but waitą what is that? cynos opened and 5 carriers enter the system and local jumps up so fast so that I donĘt even know how to react. The capital ships decide the outcome of the fight in secondsą.

Is eve-community degradating??
Yes there are traps and camps,
Yes there are outnumbered and outgunned fights,
Yes there is nothing in this game stopping these guys from playing like that,
But how on earth does this anyhow entertain people, earn them money or bring any sort of self achievement?
I remember about a year ago you could fly solo around low security systems having fun fighting people just like you, as the time went on you would have found yourself outnumbered more and more often so you had to bring your friends to fly with you. What does it look like now, do gangs without Capital Ships just not work these days.
Please donĘt tell me to stop whining and if I want to win, to go and join a corp like theirs where they would never engage 1vs1. I just donĘt see how playing like that is any fun.

yes, the eve community is becoming increasingly lame. Alot more people are just turning to all out numbers rather than overall player skill. Also dictor bubbles are making things easier for them (although this won't have been the case here). Although when out skilled numbers are fair and justified response people are taking this to the extremes now.

It's always been like that, 'cept the ships are bigger.
They used to bring 5 battleships to kill your cruiser, they now bring 5 carriers to kill your battleship.
Is it fair? No
Has Eve changed? No
You know there's no such thing as a fair fight in Eve mate. Next time take along a handful of sand to chuck in their eyes.

You definitely were on the receiving end of an unpleasant gank.
My only advice is to try PVP on the test server. PVP is strictly consensual over there, ships and mods are free, and a lot of the time you can find other people to have fair fights with. |

Nice guys finish last in this world, simple as that. They'll justify what they do anyway they can because they found it fun probably because they're deprived of the edge of your seat even/outgunned odds that get people hooked, this is probably all they've ever known... pity them is all you can do.

I find it funny you say you were looking for a fair fight, then say "so there we sit on a gate", like you wouldnt have ganked any ship that happened to wonder through that gate. So you think it's all ok and great if you are the ganker, but are going to come cry on the forums when you are the one who is ganked. I think it's funny as all hell that they came and crapped all over your gate camp

Dude wtf, we don't need to pay for an equivilent of counter strike... The entire point of this game is pvp that means something, not to mention that pvp on the test server can't be worth a damn unless you know exactly what they had fitted, test server fits are usually either wacky or worth more then they can afford on tq.

I would laugh if i got ganked like that personally. As far as I can tell from the log you started the smack. If I had carriers to set traps like that, you an be damn sure I would.

And you happen to have 5 carrier pilots nearby, you would not call for them to come help you out??

Point is they were bored on a friday and found you, point is they're not going to tell most of thier guys not to engage simply because fair fights are the right thing to do oh and last but not least point is: smack talk is never good and always leads to this kind of crap.

There isn't anything on the horizon that suggests this will change, might as well leave.
You can't blame people for bringing overwhelming force if they have it available, better than sitting around doing nothing.
