Hello all, and yes, this is Epeen wagging.
I had a duel yesterday with a mission runner. Friendly enough, his command ship against my battleship. We fought to a draw. He told me that his CEO would whip on me hard, so his CEO and I arranged for a fight after downtime today. After downtime, his CEO shows up in a faction-fit Navy Raven, as does the guy I fought yesterday.
We flag to each other and start fighting - I get him into armor, and say "YARR! Gimme your ship!" in our chat, and he logs out. I was kidding until he logged out. So I blew up his ship and looted it. Nice faction gear.
Skip ahead six hours.
I'm hanging out in my home system chatting with friends and running some missions, and someone is asking for help with a mission in local chat. I strike up a conversation with him, and ask him who the mission is against, what level, etc. He keeps repeating that its a Level3 mission against rats. After MUCH guidance on how to figure out what kind of rats they are, he tells me that they are Sansha. I fit appropriately, and go to help him. I warped into his deadspace, and he's in a Navy Raven...who needs help with a L3 in a CNR?!? I looked at his employment history and he's seen 7-8 corps in the 4 months that's he's been in Eve.
We started talking about what he was fitting, and it turns out that he has ALL basic tech1 stuff. Siege Launcher 1 x5. That kind of stuff. And no shield booster. I started explaining what the different modules were that he needed to fit in order to mission run effectively while we're doing this. I asked him how much ISK he had so that I could get a feel for what he should be fitting. He says "1.3 billion."
......
I'm starting to get suspicious. I asked him how he made all that ISK, and he said that he had an industrial / miner toon that made all his ISK on another account. I said, "Fair enough. :) That's how I made all my billions!" We continue to run through the mission and I asked him if he had an alt to come loot/salvage. He says "nope."
......................I'm getting more suspicious.
So we finish the mission and I tell him to come back to the station so I could work through fitting his ship with him. After much more discussion on the value of tech2 mods, and how he should fit a tank first, and ...all the stuff that goes into how to fit for mission running, I ask him to give me his ship so I can see its fittings. He gives it to me, I look over his crap fittings, and walk through the changes he should make. Then I give him his ship back.
Among the loot I got from the earlier CNR kill was a Gist B-Type X-large Shield Booster and a Gist X-Type Photon Scattering Field. I jumped into the modules channel to get a price check on both; and hear 600 million / 200 million respectively. My new friend buys them from me for 900 million / 300 million respectively without a question. He fits them to his ship, then tells me that he doesn't have enough CPU for the shield booster. I linked him a Co-Processor II and asked him if he could fit it; he said no.
I told him that I had the skills to fit it onto his ship, and would put it on for him. He gives me his (now faction fit) ship back. I told him that buying ISK was bad, and that he should learn to acquire things through hard work - so take all the lessons that I taught him, the 400 million ISK he had left, and put it to good use.
He says in local, "Jovanisovich > whatever i havent done anything that tons of others havent done" and logs out.
Today was a good day. =)
My first (and possibly only) day of and wow..quite profitable. :)

Astonishing.
That is what completely confounds and enrages me about these people.
"Whatever, I'll just buy another billion isk through ebay"
Yet in some way it makes me proud that I have not and will not buy ISK. My enjoyment and satisfaction from EVE just went way, way up.
Good Story, thanks for telling it.

Actually, this just inspired the lyrics for a new song, now currently in production, to be released in a couple of days called "Runaway Inflation" about ISK sellers. =p
If you don't know what I'm talking about with the songs, here's another forum thread.

Nice work!
Here's a question for you: Did you go through the entire operation with the mindset that you were going to take his stuff at the end? If so, very impressive!

Actually, I didn't tell the whole story. After I sold him the mods and got him fitted, I asked him if he wanted to go out and see how well his fitting worked now, and of course he did. I was going to take him into space and try ransoming him out of his ship, or - failing that, blow it up and get my mods back.
Aware that the stuff I sold him might not be in the loot, I figured I'd try taking the riskier road. Better for him to give me the stuff than for me to sift through his loot and try salvaging mods from it.
EDIT* As for planning it out, no - the whole thing went moment to moment until after I sold him the mods.
As for scamming...when I told him I would give his ship back, I did. The second time around, I just said, "give me your ship, I can fit a co-processor on it, even if you can't."
And I did. :) Didn't include anything about giving it back.

So like if someone buys isk but has allot of play time then it is ok for them to buy isk?

lol, well you got the idea of my post. such people deserve it
oh and btw, even if you attain isk in...unfair ways, and even if you have time to play like others, you still dont have that same expirience as someone gets when he started from very beginning and went thru all the levels and etc. A pilot whos learning to pvp with Cruiser III and Medium Turret II and then trains for both at V, will certainly be better then someone who got those without using weaker setups.
Its really like in the old days people were trained with very heavy swords so once they get the standart lighter ones they can hold it like a feather. ---

NIkis, I count my ISK in 12 digits. I don't need ISK, or to scam people out of it...but I felt that it was justified to beat on him.
