GeForce 5800, works amazing =) Lower framerate than the Radeon but the GeForce is built by early new tech and the Radeon with brute power, so the GeForce will last longer now when we get real dx9 games and above

Don't mean to start a flame war... but I think you are wrong. Why do you think HL2 looks so much better on the Radeon thna the geforce... because Nvidia don't do direct x 9 properly. - Ka Dargo. Running on a Creative g force fx 5950 If you dont mind spending that little bit extra this is a great card. Id also try and go for some of the more popular brand names. Some of the cheaper brands tend to burn out after a year

If you decide on an ATI radeon no matter which model then consider buying from Crucial Direct There prices are very competitive but the best thing is therelifetime warrenty and 30 day free trialreturn policy. Dont like the card for whatever reason just return it.

ATI Radeon 9600 is the best value card at the moment. I believe all the GeForce FX and Radeon cards support occlusion culling, so should be ok with the "son shineeeeeeeeeaaaaaa" .

It was aways my understanding that nVidea was the brute force card and ati used a few good techniques as well as brute force.

Not anymore Danny boy. The Radeon outperforms the FX in almost every respect (apart from in Db - the FX makes much more noise).

The occlusion bug affects all non-DX9 cards. Use a Radeon 9700. Or an FX5900. Your choice. They're equal.
