A simple fix would be
1) Use old speed meter
2) Make the background of module buttons translucent like they once were
3) When you 'lock' heat off, it reverts to the old button style
If some designer gets their panties in a bunch because someone is criticising their work, they have bigger problems. Successful people adapt to the needs of their customer base.

The button flashing is what bugs me the most. If the whole thing were green instead of just a ring around it I'd be happy, but as it is I think things are off when they're not all the time!
I've not really notice the speed thing, but I've also not jumped into any of my fast ships yet.

it is realy anoying when the bottom of your overveiw is overlapped by your modules, and makes the exeriance of drones more unpleasent. when in a fleet your drones are already squished to the bottom and you have to compromise by shortening the targets part.

Yes please. This would be a simple solution to an unnecessary problem.

I have to agree to this, being able to mod a large part of the UI isn't something exotic nowadays - however I'd be happy with an option to use the old style (no heat garbage with useless gauges and huge buttons and readouts which are blocked by jam-indicators (eg.), no wonky speedometer) in the meantime

Edited by: n0thing on 22/06/2007 20:24:50 Yep, considering that it was said in dev blog that heat isnt a 'must use everytime' feature, given that, theres way too much of it on UI now. Maybe if you dont have overload mode on, the heat UI wont pop in?
Dont get me wrong, the feature IS good. But the UI for it is taking too much space. ---

If you play in 1024 resolution and use all hislots (8x weapon) the weapon "circle" blocks right side of the screen totally. Problem is: you cant use drones. You need to shrink your overview so you can open drone tabs.
To get the drones above the gang window, join gangs only while undocked(with drones in the bay).

Well that would ba a complicated fix, but a nice one.
The thing is CCP continues to 'fix' what isn't broken, like the UI. It was fine before Rev 2 now its just ********.

Recon the simple fix would be a more customizable UI. Perhaps UI scaling so we could make it smaller compared to the rest of the screen.
And the whole Overview/Gang/Drones window is long due for a complete overhaul.
Oh and it seems some people have figured out ways to mod the UI... Seen them in some of the vids... Usually they have the modules arranged around the hub of the control UI or whatever you want to call it... but seems they dont advertize where to get it. Though 3rd party mods often end up being more trouble than they are worth..

Oh regarding the mess that takes up right 3rd of my screen:
It would be nice if the Fleet and Drone interfaces were detachable and could be put together with the chat windows somewhere else on the screen.. Im too busy to be typing in more than 2 channels when Im fighting, anyway.

(*edit* altering the Eve Client is against the EULA and so is posting links to how to do it, and I think that is for the best. But it definatly looks like its possible to do it. I just hope CCP's UI designers get inspired when they see them, as my screen is getting more and more cluttered) Though 3rd party mods often end up being more trouble than they are worth..
What you have seen there was no mod, it was the old EVE interface.

I've been reading a lot of the UI related threads lately and forwarding links to the UI cell. This post isn't a promise that something is going to change but it's a note that we are listening.

I just did a bit of mission running in a system where the background image is red. It was bad...
Online modules were ok, but if you deactivated a module, there was just NO way of telling if it was already deactivated, or still in it's cycle, blinking red...
