Edited by: Jim McGregor on 21/06/2007 05:31:14 Im not sure if im right about this, but the impression I get is that ccp is trying to portray the game as something cool by hiring a couple of young and handsome actors.
I really dont like it and I think the show is actually in danger of not being taken seriously at all with these guys in it, but im going to give it a chance.
All those guys look like they would fit in a teen magazine instead of hosting a serious mmorpg game like Eve. I dont think they have any idea of how serious people take this game. Except spiral. Spiral will do a great job, he always does.

From their backgrounds they look like they should all be able to present telly well, which is a good thing. You can't have a show held together by hardcore eve players only - presenting requires a totally different skillset.
As for what they know about Eve, well I guess we will have to reserve judgement till we see them in action. I must admit I am apprehensive that this may turn into something like "Match of the Day presented by Avril Lavigne", but am prepared to give them a shot before making a judgement.
They should appeal to the new players too. EveTV shouldn't be about pandering to us cynical vets.

Yeah, give them a fair chance to prove themselves. It seems like they're trying to get to know EVE and to be honest it can be nice with a little new perspectives other than us that's been playing since the start.
My guess is that they, or at least some of them, will evolve with the game when it comes to present EVE-TV. But when it comes to covering alliance tournies and such, I hope they bring in some extra expert help for the commentaries I like Stav's and the others sarcastic comments.
Other than that I wish them good luck, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they pull through! |

Edited by: Mud Pandemonium on 21/06/2007 06:11:55 Damnit, no.
You fools, you damn fools.
EVE is a PVP game, stated by the devs themselves, all things serve PVP in some way. Everything is directly linked to outfitting ships of war meant to hurl death into the hulls of your enemies.
Or so was intended.
Either way, these people must be shown no mercy! Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!
Seriously, how are they supposed to cover the major events of 0.0 warfare without being forced to experience the carnage firsthand? Sure ganking them in Empire is not even remotely like 0.0 insanity, but they must witness the firepower of a FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL TOTALHELLDEATH.
Most of us have been hurled into the maddening maw of insanity, the gaping abyss of lunacy and terror that is 0.0 warfare. Some of you more, some of you less. We've all been bathed in the baptismal flame of the hellish nightmare that is 0.0
They should do the same.

They should get R. Lee Ermey (The drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket) to do a segment on proper fittings for PVP.

EVETV could be epic, could be.
Holy ****! For this I would actually pay whatever the hell they were asking! R. Lee Ermey is a god! -- the above is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect that of the little voices in my head

The EVE TV crew has posted recruitment threads, so anyone could have ended up on the show, but yet we whine about they are not hardcore EVE-onliners.
But the best part is that noone forces you to watch EVE TV, so if you don't think they do a good job, know nothing of EVE - or they just suck... LIVE IT | PLAY IT | DONT'T WATCH IT
Now it's up to them to pull it off and get us interested.
Help me help you. |

Doesn't seem too bad at all tbh. If they just seem to be educated fast enough in different parts of the game it could even be great. Give them all a direction and let some experienced people add stuff to their scripts. We could have:
SJ for the oldschool stuff StevieSG starting to show her evil side in piracy FortunaFive being the cutey getting all the help she needs in eve-uni Fangtooth Kasumi hopefully throwing herself into the world of pvp to experience it as a newcomer Beefy Fiddler the "extreme sporter" mining his ass of and getting podded in low sec
I'm looking forward to see what the first show will look like

I say give them a chance, tbh i like eye candy and with those girls sitting next to Spiral should make the Girls look damn good :)
also tbh when do news casters and the like or even interviewers have expert knowledge on the subject?
id rather trust EveTV to make sure they are clued up and well informed and at least they are in game starting off and wouldn't that give a unique perspective from a newbies p.o.v? i know i've forgotten a lot what happened when i first logged in and saw the massive expanse of the Eve universe (my has it shrunk)

Hey hey, just saying Weepy Riddler and the rest of them need to experience TOTALHELLDEATH, that's all.
Just don't like the thought of Stiffy ****** or whatever his name is becoming e-Famous in EVE when there are a few other people I'd recommend.
But like was said, EVETV tried recruiting.
Start griefing!

Edited by: Lucien Cavin on 21/06/2007 08:35:17 I didn't read the entire thread but i did read the bios of the four new actors on the show...
Quote: Currently in EVE I have finished my training missions and have embarked on Level 1 missions [...] I have a good level of skill in Corporation Management (currently Level 5)
and
Quote: My tutorial training is going well so far and I've blown a lot of automated pirate ships to smithereens and mined some mad ore!
and
Quote: This is my first MMOG so I'm very excited
the only thing that comes to mind is OMFG!
So basicly we're supposed to pay 2 dollars for a 45 minutes show made by total noobs that we can only watch once without having to pay again.

actually i have a little question to the eveTV crew: why does it say "play it, live it, watch it"? it should actually say "pay it, live it, watch it".
That would be much more fitting and truthful since playing eve does not enable you to watch eveTV. Only paying does that.
oh well... i hope the eveTV crew gets podded until they cry. i'll do my best thats for sure. |

As you can see the four paid actors have not played EVE for very long, infact they've only started since they got this gig. My proposal? Let's take them to the school of hard knocks.
They are as follows.
StevieSG = Kind of a kooky but cute blonde girl. FortuneFive = She just finished the training missions gentlemen! Fangtooth Kasumi = Looks like an ex-FF, ex-WoW player, kinda cute. Beefy Fiddler = Self-described adrenaline junkie, doesn't seem like the best choice to host a show about an MMO.
Well, if EveTV commerial(tm) goes ****-up they can still convert that team into a semi-decent cast-together band
And StevieSG (oh please don't let suffix that stand synonym for Stargate ...) says she plays AND engages in espionage (who doesn't?) - so she's prolly a BoB spy ... might not look so bleak after all --
