Folks:
Looking for suggestions on how to fit a Hulk, with the intent of being able to lock down / kill an ore thief and survive, presuming they aren't in a BC/BS....cruisers maybe too.
What I had fitted:
3x Modulated Strip Miner II
Warp Disruptor II Stasis Webifier II Invulnerability Field II Medium Shield Booster II
2x Capacitor Power Relay
2x Ancillary Current Router (Powergrid Rigs)
I tested it against a battlecruiser, and the Shield Booster simply wasn't doing much, so this setup isn't going to do much for me. I put the riggings on there because I was hurting for powergrid to fit the shield booster...suggestions on fittings welcome!
Please stay away from acronyms, I don't get them half the time.

Halada's mining guide has the best fitting for tanking NPCs and prospective suicide gankers. Its very tight and needs some reasonable cap skills to run properly, but an ex-corpmate of mine has survived at least a couple of suicide ganks, and everything the rats of immensea could throw at him.

Hrm...
The fitting listed in there is for tanking 0.0 rats, and is pre-rigging.
Was hoping for something a bit closer to home.

i suggest not trying to kill ore thieves. they usually bring friends and then your hulk is toast, no matter what fitting.
a hauler alt is wtg :) ____________________________________________

Not quite. If someone steals ore from you, they flag your corporation. I'm in an NPC corporation, and aggro sharing doesn't apply, so they would only aggro me.
If I in turn fire on someone who stole from my container, I aggro only them, not their corp. I'm not worried about the friends that an ore thief has. :)
Just how to fit to deal with them.

If you want an anti-ore thief setup:
3x Modulated Strip Miner II
1x Survey Scanner 2x Small Shield Extender II 1x Sensor Booster (swap for another shield extender if needed)
2x Expanded Cargohold II
2x Cargohold Optimization I
You now have 17k cargo, you don't need theft-prone jetcans.

are you sure about this? when i was in empire, their whole corp got aggro. maybe it changed, dunno.
btw im a hulk pilot, but in 0.0. not many ore thieves here
if you face a ceptor-thief, not much you can do about it. your drones will be too slow and he will stay out of web range. if its a noob thief in a T1 frig your drones will shred him in seconds. you should have a warp disruptor and a webber fitted. shield booster wouldnt hurt, but it wont be that effective unless its faction. maybe fit 2 webbers as a hulk is really slow and the thief could still escape with 1 webber on him. T2 drones will be a must and very good drone skills in general. i really have no idea how your chances are against a cruiser (especially cruiser with drones). test on sisi with a friend id say.
if you only want to scare him off, dont waste mid slots for tackling gear.
i have no idea if the fitting fits as i use my hulk in 0.0 and never used it against ore thieves.
good luck! ____________________________________________

There are plenty of hulk pilots telling you to put your epean back in your pants. Give it a rest, if you're mining where ore thieves are a problem (high sec) you don't need to get your 200 million isk hulk blown up because he comes back with a friend or a battleship.
Now, if you want to be crazy, be our guest. Harden it up as well as you can, understanding that you can't fit MLUs, scanners, etc. and that, sooner or later, he may come back on you and pop you.
FLushing away hundreds of millions of uninsurable costs all over a 2 million isk can of scordite. Whoopee. You win Eve. Time to move on to WoW.
