Is it just me or has there been considerable lag tonight, now I can't even log back in after the game totally froze up :(

They've taken the server offline because of it. I hope they get it fixed soon. I need MY fix!

yea this is rediculous, i get 2 days off a week, last day off was patch day, todays day off...nightmare lag and server down...def. money well spent

It was lagging in the extream and now it wont even let me log in. It keeps saying there are possible db issues in the news window. And to quote the popup box that shows after I try to log in:
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number is wrong."
Well I logged in to post this just fine, am on an IM client, and was running two browsers just fine. I didn't alter the software, etc. :-P So I'm guessing there is some burb going on for Tranquility. The forums also were down briefly.
Another MMORPG I was on had a similar issue at one point from the forums, auth server and game clusters using the same DB server or something. When they switched the forums to their own seperate that helped. No idea their setup here though.

I lagged out during battle tried for an hour to log back in but i couldnt can i expect to log in tommorow and find my self dead ? if so this new subscriber will definately not be continuing his membership past the free month ...... :(
Shame as you lot seem to have a decent MMORPG going on here .

Not very often, of course, they installed a massive update a few days ago and they just installed some new hardware, so these types of problems can be expected.

I guess the thing that irritates me the most is the complete lack of communication/information you get from CCP when there are issues.
The client is still saying "possible database issues" yeah ok... its now obviously more than "possible".
Not only that, but tying the support servers to the games servers so that when the game tanks, support is unavailable is somewhat shortsighted.
Come on CCP, get your act together.
We dont care if you dont know whats wrong... tell us you dont know, and that you're working on it. Tell us what you think is wrong, tell us your crazy ideas to fix it. We just want to know that you're as interested in getting things fixed as we are for you to get them fixed.

1) I've only played for a couple months - and no this doesn't happen often.. Sometimes get kicked off and log back on - no big deals.
2) From what I've heard/read/seen - if you get your ship blown up during things like this: definately petition it. From what I hear CCP is pretty good about replacing stuff if the loss was caused by the server or whatever.
3) Time to find some food and see if the servers are back up.

No I have been playing for a little over a month. It goes down briefly for maintenance. I live in Western Canada so with the different timezones I don't really notice that maintance much. But the game can go out briefly for patches.
All MMORPGS have some downtime. Sort of a fluke as a new player you caught it.

Hope the massive lagg is fixed soon i might have lost a ship in the start of it. I would hate to see my myrm to go down in a firey blaze.

 well in MY experience - this happens at least weekly, usually the weekends when 30k ppl are on. So, yes it is a regular occurrence - never seen it happen so often in an MMORPG with PAYING customers

I'm getting intermittent forum errors with the working on it message. I'd say yes they have some clue what is going on and yes probably be db. The fact it also affects the forum as well as the game, but not the auth to log in here... hmm... :-P
If it persists I'll expect the forums will bug out for a period and so will the game then both will come back up.

No, this kind of thing doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. We aren't even a week out from the deployment of revs II so there are many bugs to be found and squashed that might not have been possible to test on sisi (test server) for example having 24,000 players+ logged into the same server. I'm sure the devs are working their ass off to get the cluster back up and running again.

lets hope the server is back on soon. its now about 2-3hours since i dropped out and i lost 2 hours allready for training skills. so work fast people.

I sometimes wonder whether any of you who complain about events like this have any concept of the complexity of Eve. I run a network of about 60 machines and I know what it is like to have servers crash or databases lag. I know the feeling of almost swallowing your tongue when you're called at 2 am when a server falls apart. Give CCP some credit. They have developed a game you love to play and serve it out to 20,000+ players around the clock. This is a small miracle in itself.
Get over yourselves.

the servers were taken down due to a possiable DB problem. they said it would be down for 20 min, and they said they would update the forums... almost 1 hour later NOTHING

This has happened more in the past few months than it has in the past year before that! It seems to be every weekend now! If we all start saying "It's to be expected" then we are all just giving them permission to do the smallest amount of work needed to keep customers. Instead, we should be writing MORE regarding the horrible performance this game has experience since the WW merger and the Need for Speed initiative took place...

You don't play WoW do you? I play it and GW as well. I was on one of the new groups they brought up not long ago(EI in WoW) and it had repetitive technical problems. Different hardware on them and something quirky in the software. I said something about possible db corruption observing the forum behaviour and some other game behaviour another time. Later they switched the forums off to seperate. *shrug* Then I also have my most active characters on the servers released right for expansion and were transfer to reduce load from existing servers. Again technical issues. Finally they have calmed down but try over a week of constant problems. Older servers weren't having the same issues and were reachable at the time. GW you don't pay a monthly fee but WoW's is comparable to here.

I'm wondering how many machines they have up for this. I know it runs smoother than some of the MMORPG's I play. Btw while I haven't maintained that many machines I'm BOFH in training this fall. ;-)
They did say at one point they would have an update at some point in the forums. I'm guessing they are hovering over a box working on it and just haven't got to it.

Latest info is that that db issues caused a reboot, servers should be back around 02:20.
