Where are spaces missing in my post, exactly? I want to correct it, but all seems to be in order.
Also, you put "REM the only reason for this variable is to combat word-wrap on eve-o.set SETDIR=Local" all on one line.

Your original post is missing the 3 blank lines as I view itso I copied and pasted and added the 3 lines which is all I had to change to get it to work

I had the batch file Icon still wouldn't work at that time.
I changed it back into txt file and put in the blank lines that I couldn't see on your original post for some reason and the back to bat and eve ran from then on.

Does this mean, we can no longer play on the test server without screwing our TQ install ?

Nope! So long as you use these .bat files to run either ALL of your Eve installations, or all but EXACTLY ONE, you'll be fine.

Yep, that's it! You guys are using Internet Explorer (or a derivative). Apparently, IE is on *****--I can view the HTML source and see that I have an explicit blank line there, but it's a no-go.
No worries, though, it turns out that that was a catalyst to make me rethink the installation method. It's much simpler now! Check out my first post for more details.
Still looking for someone to beta-test my Vista version. If you want to do so, please make sure you view the thread with Firefox when you go to copy the .bat! (Or just quote the post and copy it out that way.)

If you have an existing, "stuck" process, ending it can often clear things up. Press CTRL-ALT-DELETE, go to the Processes tab, and kill any "exefile.exe" processes you see.
Then try the .bat again.

Pilks way will keep the logs seperate (but if your using a single install then teh cache still gets shared) To keep all logs AND cache seperate go here
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=527827
It's a bit of a pain to set up, but it's well worth the effort.

It's a bit of a pain to set up, but it's well worth the effort.
If you want to keep a separate cache for each individual account, as opposed to each individual install, simply remove the "/end /LUA:OFF" from the end of the last line, and change the "set" lines to read:
set EVEPATH=%CD% set RAMPATH=%EVEPATH%\cache set PROFPATH=d:\path\to\profile Replace "d:\path\to\profile" with the actual path to the cache and log directory you want to use. Then make a copy of the .bat file in your Eve directory for each account you want to keep separate, and modify the PROFPATH accordingly. If the path doesn't exist, it'll automatically get created by the batch file, so no worries there.
That said, what you're suggesting seems like overkill. My clients worked fine before the Revelations II changes, and my script as it stands replicates that exact same behavior; that is, if you copy a folder with an Eve installation and a copy of my .bat in it, you can literally just double-click the new folder's .bat and it'll automatically adapt to its new location. No fuss, and your Sisi settings won't step on your TQ settings, and you can keep a separate installation for your freighter pilot and your capital pilot(s), as I do.
Still, if you want the functionality, there it is. One-line change. :)

Thanks for the fix!
I'm wondering though, do I always have to use the batch file to start my game now? What the heck happened, why did it break, and why does using this batch script fix it.

Using the .bat to start Eve is probably easiest and safest. You can, of course, make a shortcut to that .bat and place it on your start menu, your desktop, or wherever else you typically launch Eve from.
If you'd rather not have to use the .bat every time, the rule is that, since the default location for these files is commingled amongst installations, if only one installation is using the default location, you're fine. That is to say, so long as ONLY ONE installation is run without the .bat, nothing is fundamentally different than running all the installations with a .bat. Does that make sense, or am I phrasing it poorly?
At any rate, I'd suggest you just use the .bat every time and for every install. Keeps things cleaner, IMHO.

Yeah that makes sense, and the batch file works very nicely. Thanks again. Although I still don't know why this started happening. It started when I patched my other (test) client to the latest SISI build. Does the problem something to do with the new cache location?

Kill the exefile.exe process, make sure you're running with administrative privileges*, and try again?
If that doesn't work, post here and we'll try to work it out.
--P
*: On the command line (start->run, "cmd"):
NET USER "%USERNAME%" Make sure "Local Group Memberships" includes Administrators, like so:
...*snip* Logon hours allowed All
Local Group Memberships *Administrators Global Group memberships *None The command completed successfully.

Please check to make sure this is an exact description of your problem: You activate the .bat, either by double-clicking it, or a shortcut to it. A box with a black background and white text appears for a few moments, then disappears. The splash screen appears, then goes away. If you check task manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE), exactly one copy of Exefile.exe is listed under your processes tab, but nothing is popping up a window for you to enter your login details.
Is that accurate?
Also, to all those who've been saying it's working: thanks for the bumps and the reassurances that this is working well for most people!

I agree, but apparently they were under pressure from Microsoft to make this change.
Meantime, at least they left room for a workaround like this one. Otherwise, we'd be really screwed.
