I think this guy watched too much Idols and thinks he's cool bashing up games.
If you're reviewing a game you should be neutral and face certain facts ... this guy however is reviewing this game while he played 30 minutes or something like that. He clearly has 0 understanding of MMO's and probalby has been playing too much Counter-Strike or Tactical Ops.
Also reading the other reviews on their page makes me think that they are all a bunch of guys who think they know games and only look at the graphics and action ... Hello where is the music/sound and gameplay ? Action and GFX doesnt make a game.
Sorry but i hope no1 takes this site all too serious cause it obviously doesnt earn it.

Well it seems the fellow did not understand or like the game, there is no need to get too bothered about it.
1/10 is a bit harsh but I expect he has a need to be noticed and that is the way he goes about it.

He does have a point here, I think a lot of people would have experienced the let down of realising that your view is always 3rd person. I imagined Eve to be something along the lines of privateer but in an mmog. IMO it takes first person to be truly immersive and I really can't see why they couldn't have it as an option. Manning turrets is fun.

Eve is a role playing game, not an arcade game.
Once you put any of the controls into the hand of the player it becomes a matter of who is better at video games, not who is the most developed character.
Whats the point in training gunnery level V, projectiles level IV if all it comes down to is your skill with a joystick ?

What's horribly irresponsible is the bill of bull**** he tries selling as his "knowledge" of how combat works, or the skill system. State you hate it all you want, but don't make **** up... and if you do, don't get all weepy when people call you on it. Freakin muppet twink.

Well isnt this whole episode just the greatest advert for the maturity of the Eve community? Someone please explain to me the logic of dozens of people descending en masse upon a subjective, reader, review armed with arguments articulated to the level of an 8yr old?
The review itself isnt likely to put my off Eve, as i dont agree with it. Peoples reactions on the other hand are far more damning than a 1/10 score could ever be.

1) If you don't like people pointing out blatant untruths in your article, don't write them.
2) If you don't like people criticising your article, don't write one where there's discussion of said articles.
3) If you're going to stand up and shout "how dare you attack his subjective attack on eve! Everyone is allowed their subjective opinion, except you, whom i will now flame for displaying a subjective opinion about his subjective opinion and flaming!"

Harlequin, im not a troll, i simply dont see what the Eve community possibly has to gain from acting in such a manner. Love or loath the game itself, the community is undoubtedly one of the most mature and articulate i have come across. The actions of a certain few in relation to this article however are akin to the most tardish, adolescent fanboy unoleashing another incomprehensible stream of vitriol at the latest person to dare to venture a contrary opinion.
Is it not enough to simply register your disagreement with the review? I simply dont see what there is to achieve in a petty slanging match over someones opinion, the fact that it should be a misinformed and minority view compounds this for me. Of course you have a right to put over your own opinion, we all do, but i for one would leave it at that. Attempting to coax another around to your way of thinking with petty insults reeks of insecurities that go far deeper than liking a game another does not.
And feel free to search for numerous other posts ive made across these boards if the knowledge that im not an "EG Troll" will help you understand my viewpoint.

ROFL. BH, I think that's gotta be the best post I've seen on the eve forums.
I'm one of those EG regulars, and some of the comments from Eve players were a bit pathetic. Then again, some of the EG crowd managed to be both childish and superior at the same time (nothing particularly new there)

I personally loved the touch of using a screenshot *from alpha* (or very early beta, very early). That screenshot is at least a year and a half old.

That review is spot on... To that typer of person who wants to play hack'n'slash DAOC or Everquests. Eve is a more time comsuming patience game. ;x

Hmm to me the game isnt all about pvp so Im happy(ish(tm)) with it.
But to me pvp is about your skills in combat and in setup, and to be able to play in hud mode would make that part of the game more appealing to me.
But it dosnt and so I dont.
Its not Elite 2003 its Elite commander 2003 (in ref to mech warrior)
