Since we're all going through the list of movies I gotta find out what is the worst movie of all time that most of you have suffered through. And it's gotta be one you watched in it's entirity and not walked out on in the theatre.
1. Starship Troopers 2. Batman 3 with Mr. Freeze. 3. Whatever (I can't believe I sat through a no name flick)

That has to be one of the worst, I agree.
Anchorman was pretty bad. Along with basically all Ben Stiller movies.

Oh dear lord they made a second one?
I'll never forget the scene in the first one with the guy staring at his dead dog then he does this stiff turn towards the camera and quotes "the only good bug is a dead bug". Just the way the whole scene played out made me laugh for days everytime it crossed my mind.

Transporter is ok, not great imo but watchable. Was told to avoid the second. Also heard scary movie 4 was pretty bad, only seen the first 2. and yeah I don't know what the hype was all about with Napoleon Dynamite, that was 2 hours of yawn.

Ya sorry dude. i just found 300 really boring. The only part that had a single ounce of emotion was when that dad dude got "blood drunk" after his son was killed, and starting hacking ppl like a mad man. This movie reminded me of half @ssed Braveheart but BH was 100x better.

1) Spawn: Watching a bug crawl up a white wall is more entertaining than Spawn. I have yet to watch a movie that surpasses its crappiness.
2) Red Planet: OHNOEHS!!!!! KILLERBUGS ON MARS!!!! This movie has about the same level of crappiness when it comes to plotline, but in comparison with Spawn, special effects are somewhat ok.
There's a lot of bad movies out there, but those 2 are so far ahead on the "omg I wish I was blind and mute" scale, they deserve to be mentioned in this thread. _______________

Worst movie I've ever seen. I've seen some terrible stuff.
Acting, plot, story MAJOR inconsistencies (is that right?)
Anyway, its like what 1000 years in the future or something...aliens call us man-animals? THEY teach us about our history (the same aliens that conquered us) Humans then find COMPLETELY functional Harrier jets fully fueled and armed . Then human pilots who are not only able to fly but combat professional trained alien soldiers wtf? New sig coming. |

Manos was rumored to be heckled by its opening crowd in El Paso, thus predicting its own future as a MST3k classic.
I'd say that "Prince of Space" and "Invasion of the Neptune Men" were much worse than Manos, even when allowing for the fact that they're both poorly-dubed Japanese kiddie flicks from before the Japanese figured out how to do anime right.

Worst films;
Starship troopers 2, first one was so funny and all, second was just crap.
F-tastic 4: the first and the second. I really hope I dont need to say why...
Event horizon, yeah alotta people are gonna flame me for this, but honestly, I had high hopes for the movie, it started out nice but it just got worse and worse the further I watched it. I honestly thought that I got the wrong film.
Resident evils / kill bills / Ultraviolet / CATWOMAN. Basically any cartoon based movie with female maincharacter. When one wants ****, one opens the internet. Dont put this soft ****ish stuff on the movies just to sell a lot.
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Nothing too bad on the movie, but that one guy, the other Jedi whoever he is, JUST DOESNT KNOW HOW TO ACT.
I'll edit the post when I can think of more total failures.

I can top you. "Goliath vs. The Vampires". I saw this on a show called "The Very Bad Movie". The safe thing to say is they'll never be sued for false advertising.
The clincher: there are NO vampires in the movie! It just goes from horrible to worse. Bad story, no plot, bad acting, bad fights, etc.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai - This movie was terrible because it was so damn boring but had alot of promise. Usually with really bad movies I stop watching after a few minnutes but this movie had a great actor (Forest Whitaker) and an interesting soundtrack so I kept watching in hope that it would turn around and get better. It didn't get better and afterwards I felt like I wasted so much time on such crap.
What makes the worst movie for me is not the movies that are so useless you can't watch. It's the ones that are really bad but gives enough hope to keep watching til the end but still sucks when it's over.

Exorcist 2 - The one with Richard Burton woodenly going through the motions with an expression on his face like "What the flying fak am I doing here?"
Also a special mention to Godzilla - A man sitting at a radar screen, the camera pans over his shoulder. Godzilla is represented on the screen by a huge green lizard symbol and rockets are flashing red...erm...rocket symbols. The radar console has huge big buttons and looks like a seven year olds badly built toy.
I pressed the huge red button on my dvd controls shortly after.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is brilliant! Stomping robots, rocket ships, cheesy acting...it epitomises everything that spawned from the pulp sci-fi of the golden age!
I still have not forgiven my former housemate at uni for making me sit through "Meet the Feebles", a movie so bad it caused permanent mental scarring and still makes me twitch whenever someone mentions it. How this director went on to create the Lord of the Rings trilogy is a mystery (although I am still waiting for a "No hobbit scenes" hack)
A close second is completely mystifying "Zardoz", starring Sean Connery. This bizarre half sci-fi, half art flick concoction is notable for featuring Sean Connery in a wedding dress. Also a giant floating head that delivers a litany proclaiming that guns are good and male genitalia are evil.
In third place, "Van Helsing", which is similar to Plan 9 From Outer Space in that it is so bad it is good. If nothing else the inclusion of the line "Can't we be friends?" in the climactic battle scene should have been a hint to the studio that this script writer was off his trolley. This is a masterful summary of the plot. And there is a drinking game.

I personally liked Firefly because it was a new angle into sci-fi. Sure we've got 4 versions of star trek but they all do the same thing more or less, just with different cast who eventually meet each other somehow. Hell, they had to give DS9 a ship because they realized a space station was really boring. I know alot of people like battlestar galactica but I personally couldn't get into it. Stargate SG-1 was, imo, awesome until they started changing the crew. Stargate Atlantis I feel is just a poor spin off of SG-1 And I'm sure theres others but I never really watched sci-fi that much.
Just remember I made this thread for allowing ya'all to express your opinions and it's ok for people to hate Firefly
Good lists so far. I loved Manos on MST3K. That crew wanted to kill themselves by the middle of the movie!

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 28/06/2007 19:04:23 Solaris, though I think it's problem was focusing on a subplot. Everyone else on the station had similar things going on to George Clooney, not to mention the mystery of the planet, but they only went into Clooney's story. If that had been a subplot and they had done the overall story I bet it would have been good.
Fantastic Four I heard was bad, and tried for myself. They do only utterly cliched scenes, and do them worse than anyone else. One could improve this film by replacing the most cliched scenes with the eqivilant scenes from other movie.
Snakes on a Plane is proof that if you try to be a 'so bad its good' cult classic, all you get is actual Bad.
I feel compelled to comment on some films: Battlefield Earth: is hilarious. Makes no sense, but if you accept that it is damn entertaining. WE HAVE LEVERAGE!!!1
The Transporter: Best action film of recent time. Has a completely (completely) nonsensical plot, but some of the best action scenes recently. Rather than going for 'bigger' in the fight scenes they went for 'original'. Rather than going for 'faster' in the chase scenes they went for 'more realistic' and 'better choreographed'. 2 is, ironically, a generic action film with no redeeming features. It actually goes out of its way to remove what made its predecessor good.
The Matrix: The sequels were better than the original FFS. 'nuff said.
Firefly: Reached a quality level in episode 1 that it took the Star Treks and Stargates a whole season or 2 to reach. Simply amazing.
300: Did what it set out to do perfectly. Perfectly. One person mentioned no character development. What film were they watching? 'Cause I was watching the artistic heroic story whose only aim was epic fight scenes by the comic book guy.
Contact: PROTIP: It's not about the actual contact with the aliens.
Forrest Gump: GTFO. Just GTFO.
Godzilla/Independance Day: Still the best films in their genre. -

The first matrix I liked and the ending was actually decent implying that it could have made sequels.
Matrix 2 really killed it for me with characters that didn't really need to be there, waaaaaay to much talk and a NBC style ending.
#3 was so so. While I liked the last fight scene with the little mechs I still don't think it was enough to make a good movie.

If you think Starship Troopers was bad, you weren't watching it correctly. Adjust your television set and realize the satire/irony of it.
Basically many of the films MST3K did should be locked up in a vault somehwere.
Pod People - Foreign, terrible, amazing plot holes and continuity errors, it didn't make sense, it sucked, and it featured an alien named "Trumpy".
Plan 9 from outer space - possibly the worst movie ever
Teenagers from outer space - Nuff' said
Star Wars Episode 1 - I began to question George Lucas' sanity after seeing this one.
Any movie (except for any film made by Pixar before 2006) that is rated as "#1 Family Movie in America".
The Wickerman - attempts to build suspense before it just shows pictures of random creepy things.

I actually thought the original "Starship Troopers" was brilliant. The sequel however was absolutely dreadful. Low budget tripe that should never have been released to sully the franchise. Other candidates for worst film ever:
- Lake Placid - Alexander (I actually couldn't bear to watch this and left the cinema) - Runaway Bride (Thank the Lord for giving us the remote control) - Blair Witch (Should have been called "WTF?") -------------

Blair Witch spent most of the movie trying to figure out what was scary, maybe I am too used to in your face gore rather than the horror that relies upon imagination. Quite a few people walked out bored during the movie when I saw that

Batman & Robin - every sentence made me cringe, puntastic
Speed 2 - followed the rule of sequels and sucked
Star wars 1 - Jar Jar must die!
Lost Season 2-3 - no idea what went on there, one second there was a polar bear and the next this crap black mist. And they plan on making it till 2010 I heard!
Ghost Rider - just no
Pirates of the Caribbean 2+3 - not maybe the worst movies ever but could of been so much better, they seemed to drag number 2 out just to make a trilogy out of it and get some cash.

The gory ones don't scare me really. It's the physchological ones that make me think "what's out there?", "what did that?" etc. that scare me.
I must have been in the perfect mood and perfect setting (Dark winter night ISTR) for watching Blair Witch as it scared the daylights out of me. Even just seeing the wierd symbol hanging from the tree, and the pile of stones.
I guess it wouldn't have the same effect if I'd tried to watch it with a load of beered up mates after a summer afternoon barbecue etc.

I see a lot of you mention Starship Troopers 2, which really did bite. Just curious... was it even released in theaters anywhere? In Canada, it went straight to video, and then about 12 hours after that, it went to the "Rent it for a year for 99 cents!" shelves (well not quite, but close).
My own most horrible movies are The Black Mask with Jet Li, and A History of Violence.

It you recycle the same tricks you already used before, it is just lazy.
And when it is done to literature with a POINT, it is a crime.

Not "bad" in a "total crap" sense, but really really depressing.
Go see the sequel "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted". Jake tries to turn his life around, which actually produces a lighter moment or two. I enjoyed both movies for what they were.
The only movie I can ever remember not being able to sit through was the very first Star Trek movie. Both Anchorman and Super Troopers came close to joining that club but both times my friend was insistent that I stay and gut it out. :/

some of the worst movies i can think of off the top of my head-
Labyrinth Willow Cop and a half-almost makes me lose respect for burt. braveheart-mel gibson sucks. LOTR-fail Ben stiller movies-epic fail Rush Hour 1+2-chris tuckers voice makes me want to tear off my own ears after about 5 minutes. so many stereotypes i wanted to send a copy to sharpton. batman and robin battlefield earth click independence day event horizon-this movie just got really really bad towards the end. and the middle a bit. napoleon dynamite-killed more brain cells than popping a bag of disco biscuits crank-the one redeeming scene was when...well...it involves amy smart and a crowd. made me lol. the last samurai once upon a time in mexico-one of the worst movies ive ever paid to see the scorpion king
also anchorman is a great movie. so is the new bond (devoid of 50 million gadgets, and the opening action sequence where a guy gets drowned in a f*cking sink, as well as the running scene with sebastien foucan made the movie worth seeing.whole thing=awesome) Meatwad FTW |

First off, Starship Troopers is awesome! If you didn't like it, watch it again and listen to the odd one-liners, and also think of WW1 when you watch it, and you might understand the irony... If you still think it's crap, then watch Starship Troopers 2, that really was aweful!
Serenity was an awesome film! As my brother says: "The perfect way to end the series!"
As for bad films, the 'digitally enhanced' versions of the old Star Wars films make me sick... Particularly the bit in Return of the Jedi (I think) where they're in Jabba's lair and that very bad piece of CGI sings... Ruined the entire trilogy for me when I watched the digitally remastered versions...
AI was also an extremely poor film... Had loads of really bad endings and just carried on and on and on! Should have ended when the boy got stuck underwater, what was the crap about the aliens!?

Lol, recently I watched War of the Worlds with the great man of religion tom cruise, truly epic person of mankind.
Many questions ran through my mind but the biggest discrepancy i could see was the repetitive, ZOMG HUGE BIG ALIEN TRYING TO KILL US scene, immiediately followed by a "let's just stand/sit around for a while and talk about our personal lifes/stare stupidly and blankly at the evil alien." :/
My friend and myself worked out that by about 45 mins into the film we would have been about 100 miles away from danger in a car in a field sumwhere or up a mountain. Where was tom cruise and his buddies? In their house making a cuppa tea in the same city that is getting torn apart.

But the original crew wouldn't have Diz!!! She made the movie worth while with shots like the co-ed shower scene and the cold hearted bastards had to kill her. /cry
And yes war of the world with Mr. Cruise was pretty much a joke. I watched that one with friends and every time it showed a shot of the son being all ****ed off we'd all yell 'ANGRY FACE'. And personally if I saw 80ft tall robots killing or kidnapping people I WOULD NOT go anywhere where theres a ton of people cause that just screams 'I'm cattle like the rest of you suckers'. And the scene when he detonated the grenades inside of one made me think of how these aliens would be having a hell of a time in the middle east. Hit the mountains man, I bet those those things probably didn't go near those areas.

Starship Troopers 2... liked the book, liked the first movie (for different reasons, obviously), whomever made the second one ought to be shot. Terrible in so many ways it hurts.
Final Fantasy was pretty bad.
Pretty much all films based on comic books.
Star Wars Episode 2 and 3. I have more acting talent in my left nut than the guy who played teenage/young adult Anakin Skywalker has in his whole body.
Epic Movie epically fails.
Batman 3 and up to but not including Batman: Begining.
The latest James Bond.
Flags of our fathers/Pearl Harbour, because I thought I was going to see a war movie when I went in the theater, not a bunch of sentimental/romantic crap.
The Ring I thought was pretty lame. The only scary parts are when the dad electrocutes himself and when Samara goes through the TV screen. The rest was mildly creepy and not at all entertaining.
Transporter 2 was pretty lame. I like the first one though.
Jeepers Creepers 2... lol.
Aeon Flux and Ultra Violet... two of the few movies I couldn't watch till the end.
Alexander. Only saw a few bits of it, and what I saw enraged the Alexander The Great fanboi in me.
In a similar vain: Troy.
Oh, and the Crow 3 was, well... I dunno how to describe it. It's almost worth watching just so you know how thouroughly bad it is.

Great scenes -
The star, in his WWI Biplane, flies behind enemy lines to rescue his girlfriend and her siblings. He lands the plane, gets out and flies them back with Germans shooting at them.
In one air-fight scene, his wingman is shotdown, and crashlands his plane in the middle of the no man's land. Hearing his friend moan in pain from 1000Ft up, our hero lands his airplane in the battlefield, runs to and saves his friend.
You get the idea.

Man Bites Dog is terrific. Not only blackly funny but visionary as it was made many years before the whole reality TV craze took off.
Can't believe people are putting Kill Bill in this list... okay I admit Uma is annoying and you kinda wished that girl with the ball and chain split her head open in the first film, but it's still a good double feature...
And the first Starship Troopers is cool, but you have to read between the lines a bit to get the most out of it. Probably the most clever anti-war film ever made.
Okay, bad films:
There are several bad films out there, lots of obscure z-grade stuff I could name obviously, but just sticking to films with big budgets here, that maybe COULD have been better:
Battlefield Earth - hahahahahilarious, note that every shot in this film is on an angle! Every single one! It's like the cinematographer took some amateur film course that said "to create tension, try placing some shots with the horizon on an angle" so he did it for EVERY SINGLE SHOT. Argh. There are plenty of other reasons why this film is crap, but that's one of them. Oh, yeah...erm, hail Xenu.
Armageddon - more terrible cinematography. The camera never stops moving, and there's barely a cut more than 2 seconds long in the entire thing. Should have a seizure warning or something like computer games do. Plus is pathetic Hollywood crud but then, you knew that.
From Dusk Till Dawn - brilliant for the first half (obviously the bit Tarantino was responsible for the scripting of), then it turns into an incredibly lame, stupid, cliched zombie film. There are good zombie films but this is not one of them. I was expecting big things from this. Not the worst film ever made but certainly the most dissapointing, at least for me.
Waking Life - I don't think I've seen anything more boring, ever. I also don't think I've been so visually amazed and bored at the same time. Oh hang on, yes I have. Most computer games these days are all about prettiness with virtually no sensible content. Just like this film.
There's more, but those are the ones that spring to mind.

I have not as yet seen the latest version, but if it is anything like the book and people are flaming it here (based on plotline, not acting) then I feel sorry for you for you really have not heard or read the original.
The original is a stunning musical masterpiece. I want to hear it again now... ----------------------------

Ughhh, Napoleon Dynamite, I wish I had spent that money on poison to kill myself with.
Also Starship Troopers 2, Casino Royal, Snakes on a 'Train' (Never got through more than 10 minutes at the beginning), I'm sure there are lots of others I have blocked out of my memory.

house of 1000 corpses: the sequel, devil's rejects was even worse!
how the f*** could they even rate it R, it's so gory and praises criminals it should be banned!
hmm lets see
manos the hands of fate was an obligatory mention, i watched it because it was consistantly touted as the worst movie ever made.
after i watched that i contemplated on where you draw the line between recordings of dumb***es and semi-professional acting in a script.
i'm still not sure but they definitely crossed the line.
IMDB hall of infamy: http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom
i'd probably have to mention the meatballs sequels, along with other horrific crap from the 80s like porky's etc.
as has been mentioned, many modern movies (last 5 years) have been catering to the lowest common denominator, with many eve players mentioning it was "insult to intelligence"

Edited by: Mark Lucius on 09/07/2007 22:26:35 Aaack. A big part of my small Dvd collection is mentioned here.
I was able to avoid a lot of these because of threads like this. Notable ones that I wasn't able to avoid, in random order:
Blair Witch Project Scariest movie, my ass. WTH was it about anyway? At least part two was a mediocre slasher movie
Ring / Grudge (American versions) Ugh
Fast and the Furious Only reason I watched this is because a hawt coworker said it was good.....yeah she's a blonde....
War of the worlds I wanna say 'Tom Cruise', but he actually isn't the worst part of the movie. And that is saying something...
Running scared That's what I did about halfway through
Epicenter I cried myself to sleep
And that doesn't include the ones that I simply banished from memory, that I didn't bother to remember or that didn't have a titel to begin with. ---

That's only bad to me beacuse it should have been SO good and it was such a wasted opportunity.
What was the matter with Horsell Common eh?
Like Judge Dredd. It had the potential to be one of the greatest Sci-Fi films of all time, instead it was just mediocre.

the first one was just carporn for people who like that sort of thing. it was a silly movie, but it wasn't that bad.
the other 2 movies tf&tf were horrible, horrible trash.

Pirates of the Caribbean and its depraved sequals. Might have been ok if someone had thought of a plot, slaped Johny Depp the first time he did that stupid Keith Richards impression and got rid of Orlando Bland.
The Blair Witch Project I decided the main characters were so annoying they deserved to die... very, very slowly. Sided with the witch and then got annoyed with her because she was taking so long to actually start ripping the swine apart.
The Patriot and The Passion of the Christ I've said it before and I'll say it again, apparently as a European I'm the spawn of Cthulhu. Who makes a Medieval Anti-Semetic Play into a film and presents it as fact? Well someone who obviously thinks Jews are the Spawn of Dagoon.
Get Rich or Die Tryin' Just die please. I don't seem to remember guns and hoes being part of the four elements.
Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions There are no sequels.
Hostel/Paradise Lost/Slasher ****

I want to say the D&D movie but it was too awful to watch all the way through so I'll go for Kill Bill as well, pointless and boring, I watched the first half of Kill Bill 2 to see if it had been worth staying with the "story" but it wasnt
and as for the person who said Spirited Away, really I mean it's not the usual Anime huge robot kinda thing but I thought it was really good

"I haven't watched these films fully, and thus never found out what the actual plot was, ergo they are mindless gore."
Genius. You'd make a great movie critic (seriously).
Oh, and since it was mentioned, I'd like to add Tomb Raider (both of them) to my list. Not because they are actually that bad on their own, it's just the plots they were based on were so much better that it must have taken epic amounts of fail to make them even that bad. -
