We have been getting so much feedback of what type of EVE news matters to you. The eve mail/emails I have received have been a bit all over the place and I know could possibly make for a serious discussion, if not a debate.
EVE TV hopes to cover something for everyone. Like I said the feedback has not been one sided at all. From in-game politics -> ingame services -> player gatherings -> market news ..
So I thought I would open it up to the floor.

We need coverage of the war. Something that can cut through the propaganda and get straight to the facts. I know it wouldn't exactly be up to date since EVETV is taped, but it would still be useful.

Edited by: Ravelin Eb on 29/06/2007 00:21:53 Its a tough decision what content to put into the show, to balance it for all types of viewers, but i do feel that the majority are more intrested in the current state of EVE politics and corps etc. Clearly the entire show cannot be dedicated to these subjects, i would love to see the other things mentioned. But the MC section of the 1st episode was imo the best part, more things like that, corp profiles, wars, maybe battle summerys, discussion of possible tactics and highlight on current political situations in EVE, say discussion of alliances or corps motivations or options open to them.
A more chatshow type format, get knowlageable people in the studio like the Alliance tournaments to do these discussions, people enjoyed the banter and format of the tournys and taking EVETV a little more down that route would be a good move, as long as things like news and the reports on other eve related things like events are kept. I could easily watch hours upon hours of the last tourny footage, with the better production and resources you guys now have avaliable to you, i think you can do something really entertaining.
edit: realised my post was very hard to follow and awfully presented, my bad.

It seems EON would better be cover it but... Ships. and then history behind them. and more so a video explaning what all the little in and outs are.
They have so many windows and bays I'm just sure the artist at CCP have a picture in there mind of what everything is and what each ship looks like inside and how they work.
It would be wonderful to have an inside look on what the artist see in side those big ships we can stare at form the outside.\
or other artist things :)

Id say more facts on the conflicts. Certainly no 'who killed who' stuff.
More of reactions, how it effects locals, how it affects markets and etc...certainly no propaganda and no conflicting parties should be let to tell about it. More like independant parties that will base their opinion after privately talking with conflicting parties or watching them in action or etc. ---

THat's part of the plan, or at least that was the excuse spiral was using when he was trying to get people's Skype addresses for interviews a couple of weeks ago.
What I don't want to see is for EVETV to turn into a BoB/Goon/MC-centred news show where the only thing that is covered in any depth are the big alliances and the war.
I'd like to see analysis of the economy - getting someone who understands economics to do a semi-regular piece on which ships/mods/mins are expensive at the moment and why would be really interesting.
Other than that I'm pretty sure everything I want to see (and more) has been mentioned by one of the lovely EVETV people in the EVETV channel, so I'll wait a few more episodes to see what gets delivered before asking for more _____________________________________________

I've voiced a similar opinion on this, and that's definitely not the direction EVE TV will be taking. I've pushed hard that yeah, Alliance warfare is important, but there's a tremendous number of interesting events happening across the entire game.
As far as I know, EVE TV is totally open to be invited to cover any event, regardless of how huge/popular/old an organization is. Nobody has anything to lose by sending them a note and asking them if they want to cover it.

I think it would be a good idea to do a piece on "the little guy" in eve, those crazy pvpers or uber rich industrialists that just stay in small corps, pulling off things that you wouldnt expect from "nobodies". ---

I would like to se EVE-TV promote and follow up on storyline events and fraction politics in order to spice that part of the game, maybe throw in some concord warnings of pirate activity and such, making atleast some of it kinda like a real newscast, ofcourse in addition to the other stuff, like player gatherings, battle repports and all that.
I am a big fan of the whole eve-tv concept, so thanks for the good work

Featured corporations would be nice, presenting admitted agendas and speculation on the future progress of the entity given its past record and the sentiment of the current leadership.

I think balance is key here, and being liberal to all demenisions of Eve.. But.. I've been seeing a bit of lack in 0.0 politics, and Immersionism though I have to say the indepth coverage you are providing makes up.. but.. it's just lacking in certian areas that would make it more balancing to watch.
I would like also.. sort more depth look in the New Player Experience, the last 2 Episodes just scooted through it, and sort of didn't bring out the characters of Eve to balance. I'm myself is 1 year old Eve player, but it's good TV to watch things that they did wrong or things they did.. It makes good relaxed TV.

Edited by: Comstr on 01/07/2007 02:09:01 Edited by: Comstr on 01/07/2007 02:07:32 Edited by: Comstr on 01/07/2007 02:06:22 This weeks war news: in short, who lost what outpost. Individual battles don't count unless it's a Titan or Mothership kill, or a huge mass of cap ships dieing. Number of battleships killed isn't of interest in the time available.
The ship introduction was quite well done. However, when you show the fitting screen show ALL modules placed (well finish placing the last few on the screen). It doesn't have to be discussed in detail via words what modules to use, just show them on the screen. Also mention "if you're attacking this ship, here is it's weaknesses, low EM shield/not much cap/long range and no tracking" etc).
RP news: who got picked as the Empower/why is the Caldari state having riots. Keep it separate from the PLAYER news, in a different part of the show (maybe use a special presenter who specializes in it). Extra tough credit: explain why the RP news will effect the player base :).
Economic report. Eve is not all just PvP! what's the price on the Jita Markets of mins, how has it changed, WHY did it change, and what modules/ships/mods/implants are a good buy or sell. Yes this will effect the economy. Go for it! When real world bankers and finance ministers make announcements the markets *listen*. Where is the market going for Zydrine, and why etc. Trade is just as important as fleet warfare, if not more so. It's used by every single player of the game, empire, low sec and 0-sec. Trade in EVE is PvP just as much as pressing F1-F8 is, and it needs to be covered. This is useful to the entire playerbase.
EvE (The History Channel). What was Eve like 1/2/3/4/5 etc years ago. What was "the great Heist" and who did it? Who was Indomintable Nightmare and what happened to him? Did people really go around in nothing but frigates and cruisers? Was Amarr really the flavor of the month at one point? Typhoons could beat anyone? What happened, and why was changes made?
Ship Classes: what they do (And just because it's covered in the magazine doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. The mag covers ONE per edition right? So cover a different one. Or do one they've already done, because of changes made ie Stealth Bombers). Can Frigates *do* anything on the battlefield these days? What is a good ship can a noob use to help his gang win a battle? If you want to be a miner, what ship should you be aiming for (before you can use of afford a hulk).
If you have the ability for it, ad a ticker at the bottom of the screen with random(?) eve-online fourm topics on it.
At the end of the show: don't mention BoB *unless* you have someone anti-BoB to debate them. The great war needs to be covered, but have both sides please.

I'd be all for the EVE history spots. You don't know how many times I have to tell people only 2 years old: Yes, there were no shuttles, yes there was no tech II, yes, there were no such things as alliances in the game, cops with 500+ people were the main thing...NPC's used to be heaps tougher in the first year, and one could mine Omber and Kernite in .7 systems no probelm.
Yes, we did only have frigates to start off with. (Oh and my favourite) We didn't start out with employment histories and when they finally did, they couldn't go back all the way for most of us.
Seeing EVE change all these years gives one a diferent perspective then players who don't understand the 'history' of EVE, and what they have now that never used to exist. They don't know about mOo, they don't know we used to have a very active events team (with Jovians and CONCORD), used to be able to join any NPC corp we wanted, that NPC's first purchased and sold everything to/from us...
The list goes on and on. Heck even a 'On this date three years ago, the first Cruiser was produced by so and so. or other importan events, like our first Amarr Emperor frigate tournament years ago, (and why the Amarr system has those names it does because of it.)
You've got 4 1/2 years of EVE game play to work with, and it's only adding more and more.

For me EVE-TV is too much. Its only a game and i dont live for it. I can watch interesting program from time to time (if i find any) but i have more interesting things to do/watch in RL than EVE-TV.
But i would like to watch some programs about future of EVE, new features, DEV plans etc from time to time. Not just crap talk like in audio dev blogs but something serious like changing game mechanics (more CPUs for 1 system, new engine, etc).
Maybe top 10 events in last week/month (for example 1.Outbreak ganked BoB alt freighter in hi-sec 2. MS loost by. ... 3. Big fight in ... ).
But seriously i think EVE-TV wont be big success, same as EVE Voice which was a BIG failure. All in all i think its too much, we want to play game and have fun but there are always maniacs who will play 23/7 and they always need more.
Good luck

Covering the 0.0 politics and great wars will be a key part of EVETV and this can spark interest in the "bigger picture" for a lot of people.
I think the "killer ap" for EVETV will be close in video footage of key battles and such. (I know that is what I look forward to)
Maybe it doesnt have to be large scale fleet v fleet, but smaller scale fights. These types of things could get a lot of people interested in PvP, which is the best part of EVE, IMO.

Great job so far to you all at EVE TV so far.....
It is a tough call as to content in the show. I believe it should cover the following areas:
1. EVE News & Politics between the 0.0 Alliances and their Wars & Sovereignty expansion & Decline. 2. Game Development now & for the future. 3. Guides to the use of Ship Fittings etc (as you started in Episode 2 with the Rohk) and also Mining & Starbase Operations. To new players out there it can be some what daunting with the POS operations & they will not have seen what it takes to build & set up Outposts. Also Capital Ships and their operation and building 4. Issues in game that need to be looked at by CCP.
As I said great job so far and I am looking forward to watching more as it arrives on a weekly basis.
GREAT JOB

How bout a "This week in EVE history" segment? Many of us did NOT start playing eve from day one, so there is alot of history that we've missed. I know that I hear about this or that alliance or war from years ago that I never got to experience or follow. I don't know if theres any really good places to dig up information on these things to make into a segment, but I think it would be interesting.
There must be some good EVE historians out there who could help set it up, or dig up some material to be used on a show such as that.

I haven't seen an episode yet, would like to, but an waiting for downloadable. I am interested in:
RP - news (or history, sometimes not much happens) Big wars.. especially Alliance vs Coalition (right now) Changes/Patches, how they will affect play maybe some report on a ship (setups) or economic thing... social things (RL meets, CCG, etc)
I saw there was a noobie section, that might be good, but I haven't watched yet so I don't know

I'd kill for something like The Jita Minute, where the host would pull together a T2 BPO owner, an inventor, and say a combat veteran and discuss the market.
Say, for example:
Lately, our economic analysts have been following a disturbing trend occurring in the marketplace.
With the advent of T2 Invention, the prices of most advanced ships dropped dramatically, from the much-vaunted Cereberus and Vagabond to the deadly and still somewhat exclusive Ishtar. However, despite the overall drop in prices, the cost of recon ships are at an all time high, in particular Rapiers and Curses - tonight on the Jita Minute, we will delve behind the scenes to discover the cause for this price anomaly, the affect it has been having on combat pilot's wallets and killing prowess, and if CCP should step in to alter the process.
All this and more on the Jita Minute, coming up next.
Eh?
