The Ishtar Heavy Assault Ship Does it all: It Tanks, It destroys and it salvages everything in site fast with the capacity to hold it. If you have the skills and modules.. check out this configuration:
Hi Slot - 2x Heavy Modulated Pulse Energy Beam w/multifrequency crystals (not even needed with drones but adds and nice extra punch and needs no cargo space for ammo) - 3x Salvagers (why have more than 3?... you can barely lock and loot wrecks fast enough with 3 and if your ship is this fast why bother with a tractor beam?)
Med Slot - 4x Large Shield Extender II (these are awesome, tank heaven!) My Shield is 19,590 and recharges in 442 seconds! (partly due to low slots, below) - 1x AFTER BURNER II (top speed almost 600 m/s and it gets there fast!)
Low Slot 3x Power Diagnostic II (adds to shield, power, capacitor) 2x Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay (diverts excess capacitor to shield recharge in a very very big way - no need for boosters with these babies!) - I barely monitor the shields they never get down to half and I don't need the extra capacitor so this is the way to use it.
Drone Bay (325 at level 4) 10x Berserker I (rarely use them but they look good in there and they are expandable, also the fastest heavy drones) 15x Hobgoblin II (cheap, super fast and surprisingly powerful with skills, rarely loose one)
Result:
1.) Kill Everything Fast: Set the drones loose and everything is blowing up as you salvage.. automatically (I really like drones) 2.) Bust & Move: Start salvaging with the first kill, get there fast and turn on a dime, this tank will not go down and the super fast drones rarely get scratched so 90% of your attention is on salvage) 3.) Roomy Trunk: with a medium can inside it holds 525 M3.. I do go over this sometimes but just jettison metal scraps and other less valuable stuff if i need to.. rarely even an issue. Since I use powerful Pulse lasers (mostly just for show like a hood ornament - A hood ornament with a nasty disposition.. haha)) no cargo needed for extra ammo.
- The Ishtar will target to 70,000 meters and so will your drones. Also, this is a better tank than any battleship. A battleship can get higher Shield HP but it cant touch the super fast recharge rate because it starts too high. With this configuration your shields automatically recharge faster then a slew of heavy ships can knock them down. PLUS with two rig slots you can add to already super high damage resists (boost the EM to match the others all over 60% and resist rigs are cheap!)
Unless you want two or more ships to do the job that one can do, this is the ship!

LOL.. I guess you didn't read what i said. the only thing you pick up with an interdictor is some more speed.. which is overkill speed and you loose absolutely everything else. Are you on level 2 missions?.. well then any old rust bucket might work. Sad?.. explain yourself, that means nothing.

why do you want a salvage ship that kills?
I would prefer +2xhighslots above some dps for a salvager any day (if it is for missions)

The laser is for aggression, then you let the drones do the work. No need for ammo in the hold then.
I personally would fit an armor tank, 2 corpum A type reps can run forever.

Yes its for missions.. The ship has 5 high slots but only three hard points. I used to have three guns on it but it's the drones that do all the killing. Three guns? Rail guns? Blaster? on this ship would be uselss. Lasers are nearly as destcructive over a much wider range and require no ammo. Besides the guns are just bonus firepower when you have a drone carrier/tank like this one. The ships power and cpu are used to perfection with the configuration i showed. Would loose a lot just to add a third gun and gain almost nothing.

Tuche' Mag.. i think you basically see my point here... the reason I make it a shield tank is because its all shield and never gets down to armor.. think of 19,590 shield (with the resistances this thing has) that recharnges in 442 seconds! I watch the meter goin up once it gets about a third down as I am being bombarded .. its insane!

actually I think he's against your usage of guns... he's suggesting that 2 more highslots for salvage are ore worthwhile than 2 guns that do nothing... I'm getting the sense that not many people are reading your post, but just glancing at the setup and pointing out things they consider weird
seems like a solid setup to me... not sure if a tractor beam could be of use for dragging in wrecks that are really out of the way, as it could potentially save you about 30 seconds of flying once in awhile

I see what you mean now... i may have misread that and yes.. it seems very few people actually get this.. the reason i dont have 5 salvagers is simple.. One to start aggresion .. two.. because i would need to take both guns down just to add one salvager (cpu it used up to less that 1 and my skills have the guns at low cpu). three, they do add a nice extra punch when i want it and last, 3 salvagers work faster then i can go from one to the next you just dont need more then 3.. even 2 can do the job.

I did read what you said but I prefer to run missions in a combat ship and then have a dedicated salvage ship. And when I say I find it sad it is because of the time required to fly a HAC relative to the use you are making of it. It was not a serious comment.
An interdictor not only has speed -10mn afterburner? yes please- but also three more high slots for faster salvaging. But yes if you absolutely must use a single ship I'm sure the Ishtar works well.

Use a target painter for aggression, and put a couple of tractor beams in the high slots instead of the lasers.

Ignorant. Its got decent resists out of the box, the myrm is slower. To be honest, the domi beats the myrm in just about every aspect here.

LOL.. you didnt ead the part about hardner rigs huh? Resistance is almost 60 or better acrross the board and the enormous shield HP and lighting fast recharge make it very potent. It far from melts.. you obvioulsy have not tried a configuration like this. The shield actually goes up during batle once it gets down to about 2/3rds. Try ot before you knock it.. its tested. I threw away the Myrm because its slow, cumbersome has an enormous signature radious and a huge recharge time. Doesnt even come close.

Yep.. its got the rigs.. EM resist is up with the others and resist riga are the cheapest out there which is why i did not use up the medium slots with hardners.

I really like the Domi.. sure beats the Myrm accross the board but for this kinda config is still too slow and cimbersome and cant get the shiled recharge so low.. The shiled recharged itself over 100 every second its 19,590 with a 442 recharge.. can anything beat that?.. no! I tried. lol this si the only ship that can make tha thappen with 60 plus resists acrrros the board to boot!

Youre probably right, then again, im not sure why youd want to stick with a shield tank on it, getting 75-80% across the board in armor issnt that hard, and with decent equipment you should be able to run 2 reppers 24/7 thus tanking way better than the shield tank you proposed - however - it will be slower at moving around. Then again you run no tractor beams on that ship of yours thus it would probably be about the same.
I personally prefer the domi, 3 salvagers, 2 tractors and a aggrogun in high.

that's pretty cool, I always like using small ships over large ships, I spent so long trying to figure out a vexor setup I coudl rat 0.0 with and it kicked arse but was vulneable to NOS.
I would fit 2x salvager and 2x tractor beam though, it's good to not have to stop while salvaging & looting ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder

I respect your thoughts of course and there is more then one one to skin a cat. I happen to prefer the shiled tank because it takes care of itself automatically with this config. Low capacitor drain means diverting capacitor to shield recharge and it works like butta! I have tried tractors but honestly.. other than maybe the last few wrecks that may be 40k meters away.. it wont save much.. i am headed toward them at 600 m/s and cant tractor till i get inside 20l meters anyway but can slavage ar 5k meters so it only save a few seconfs really.

I understand your point and tried it.. only prblem is i need to sacrifice too much tank to get the tractors on board and i dont find them all that suefull when i can zip around like this hull lets me do. But as I said to other replies.. there is more than one way to skin a cat.. one thing i dont wanan do is waste all kinds of time using two ships when this one does the job.

Some points:
Myrmidon's shield recharge is only a tiny bit slower - before the most recent patch, it was the same.
A battleship without rigs can have twice the tank on the weakest resist. 110 shield per second really isn't that much - unless you're doing level 2's.
Myrmidon has an extra rig slot, an extra low, and an extra highslot.
You can set up an perma-running armor tank that will absorb more damage.
The 4th exteder would be better as an Invulnerability field I, and much better as an Invul II.
I prefer the Typhoon for this stuff - massive armor tank, nearly as fast (especially if you take a slot or 2 for speedmods), 4 torps/cruise + 3 salvagers and a tractor beam, and it hold 5 heavy and 5 medium drones on top of that. -----

You might want to re-examine the concept of a 'forum'.
I'm going to have to agree with Ecky X here, that is a very small tank, and even with the reduced sig radius I can't imagine you could survive on any lvl 4 with that setup.
A myr, even one devoting a midslot for an AB, will have 3 times the shield recharge time, and comparable resistances.
Further, your setup seems to have CPU issues (unless I am being a complete noob with quickfit), it has cap issues even with all relevant skills maxed, and the EM resist does not even reach 50% with 2 EM rigs on...
Not to mention the fact that the EM rigs detract from one of the main advantages of the ship; the small sig radius.
While this fit is probably great for lvl 2s, and might survive lvl 3s... it just does not seem viable.

Hi Let
I am not sure what all the doubt about this setup is. There really is nothing to doubt because I am reporting to you that it does in fact work. EM resistance is at 54%, the others are at 60 or better. I havent done a level 2 mission in a year. I can eat dinner on any level 3 mission with an occasional click.. nothing can take down these shields on level three and I mean nothing. The current set up is 19,590 shield with 429 recharge (added an implant went from 442 to 429). It recharges way over 100 per second (depending on the depletion of course) but it also has the resists. I have never once seen it drop to half. True that the two beta converters drain the cap but most of the time only the AB is darwing and tractors/salvagers pull very little.. so does the AB for that matter given my skils.. and yes, all relevent skills are maxed. I did mention that this setup takes skills. The CPU is 355 of 356 (the base cpu for Ishtar is 285 which is by far the lowest of all HAC's) but with the right skills this config fits.. how do i know this? Because it fits on my ship!
So.. with all due respect, it does work.. it cuts through any level 3 mission like butter.. I mean 1,2,3 easy.. occasionally loose a drone. Level 4 takes skill and the drones tend to bleed.. I wont be handling a hamberger while on a level 4 battle but this fast, nimble and tough little carrier gets the job done.
Yes the drawbacks add to sig radius but that is also cut with skills. many skills cut this. Still.. even with that its far lower than any BC and certainly an BS with way more resistances.. Not to mention that you don't need a link augmenter (50 cpu) because the ship bonus gives you the range and the huge drone bay.. the extra drone damage is added by the cruiser bonus. There is no better drone carrier that can fly in safe space.
I don't see your points on comparing the Myrm.. when they came out I thought they were great.. sold my Ishtar and loaded that sucker up.. Resistance are not comparable unless you load the slots. It's like a bull in a china shop and doesnt have the other drone bonuses of Ishtar. That race is just a non starter.

been thinking of training for an Ishtar, only need to get cruiser to lvl5,
been using a vexor for lvl4`s atm, and while it handles them well enough, it isnt by any means a quick way to do missions, im liking the look of the larger drone bay and more slots to play with, also the extra drone range is a nice addition before having to you drone links,
