Im doing missions in a BS and lost it due to getting scrambled which normally isnŠt a problem for me. When cap is getting low i bring back my drones and warp out harms way. I have done tons of lvl 3 missions and get scrambled allot without problems unitll last night. So maybe there were too many NPC:s scrambeling me? any thoughts about it how to deal with it

Fit a proper tank so you don't have to warp out.

u lost a _BS_ in a lvl3 mission? now how did u do this? ;) just kill the scramblers first. that should easily do the trick. if u cant hold the tank that long, then u r definitely doing something wrong. maybe u wanna tell us your ship/setup?

I've been flying L4s for everal months and never needed to warp out. Sounds like the OP is flying a ship on minimum skills and prolly needs to do some more training. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Well I used a Hyperion with 7x 350mm rails for distance and one autocannon for close range, 4 Ogres drones Large shield booster II Large shield extender II Ntype kinetic hardener Armor explosive hardener Large armor repairer Large capacitor battery II and a drone agumentor i guess... thats about it. Any suggestions for better fittings is appreciated

What level 3 missions are you up to?
I did all of mine in a Vexor or Brutix, now I use a Myrmidon and don't even break 50% cap.

Level3 mission? No Drake? Turret Battleship? Fit 8x 250mm Rail. Still does more damage to all those cruisers and frigs than the not hitting large rails. Because "some damage" > "no damage x 1.25"
Oh... or just skill a Drake to skilllevels ~3. Will do much better than a hyp with skills at 5.
...and is cheaper ...and can't be killed in a level3 -- This game is still in beta stage |

Do a quick search, read the ships info
it has a armor repair bonus, use it!

Given he's using drones, why not put close in guns (cruiser size) for anything that get's close and then use the medium drones for distance. Keeping some small drones in reserve should frigates become a problem.
He should be using a Myrmidon though :P

Whatever you do, never ever tank both shield and armor. Put in an armor tank with the proper resists for the enemy you're fighting, and put an afterburner, a webber and some cap rechargers in the mid slots. I'd also drope the ogres for hammerheads, they have a much easier time killing the frigates that scramble you. I don't fly the Hyperion, you may want to check the Stickied post about ship fittings in Ships and Module forums.

When did you buy this character?
There is no way you wouldn't know to use an armor rep system on a Hyperion.

I recently lost a ship on a mission because I couldn't tell who was scrambling me - lots of ships, and stasis towers. So I was killed before I was able to figure out and kill whoever had me. How can you tell who or what is scrambling you?

QFT.
The modules you can fit, the ships you can fly and the inability to put together/list a ship fit suggest a purchased character.
If not then sorry, put some effort into learning a bit more about eve.

You can't directly, though with a bit of research and homework on the missions you can figure it out. It's always frigates and you can identify them by their name, for instance the 'strain' drones.

Except that when you're in a battleship you can not zoom in on frigates much since CCP borked that last winter.

Sorry, that is a terrible fit on a Hyperion... or any ship for that matter. Try this for level 3s:
High Slots: Dual 250mm rails
Mid slots: 100 MN AB 2x Tracking CPU 2x Cap Recharger
Low Slots: 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane 2x Rat Specific Active Hardeners 1x Damage Control 1x Large Armor Repair
Edit - For those of you suggesting that the OP purchased the character, that's not likely. A new player can be flying a battleship in a couple of weeks these days, but flying it well of course takes a lot longer. I started in April and have been flying my Megathron since May. In a couple of months I'll be flying it much better, of course, but for now it works for Level 4s (with an even newer player in a Drake as my wingman).

There are some NPC ships out there that use str 2 warp scramblers. Better tanking is the ideal way to go, but you can also just fit 2 warp core stabilizers on your ship and be able to warp out anytime. Down side though is that doing so just cost you 2 slots that could have been used for armor tanking and you will probably need a sensor booster to compensate for the drastic decrease in your max targetting range from the warp core stabs (which means yet another slot taken away from tanking).

It's much easier just to kill the ship that might scramble you first. I always laugh when I instapop scrambling frigates at 120km with my Megathron.
In my opinion, the only time you EVER should fit WCS is when you have no intention of doing any fighting at all. Not against anything. Fitting a WCS says, "I have no intention of any aggressive action at all. I will run away at the slightest sign of danger." WCS makes sense when you are hauling through low sec. It makes no sense if you plan on fighting anything, including an NPC.

Wow. That's why. Mistakes you're making:
Shield boosting an armor tanking ship. Mounting a shield extender which makes that much of a bigger target. Using drones as a long-range weapon for a gunship. Using a capacitor battery, use a Cap Charger (not a cap booster). Inadequate use of resistance modules (you should be using four, tailored to the rats)
I use a Hyperion for Level IV's. My set up (I fit tank first then work to the main guns, though I present as guns to tank because that's convention...):
High: 6 - Guns (As many 425's that I can fit, then 350s) 1 - Standard Missile Launcher (defenders to deal with Torpedos on some missions, otherwise anti-frigate). 1 - Heavy Diminishing NOS
Med: 1 - AB 4 - Cap Charger IIs
Low: 1 - LAR II 4 - Active Hardeners (fit to mission) II 1 - 1600mm Plate
Rigs: 2 - Cap. Control Circuit 1 - Aux. Nano Pump
Drones: I carry 10 Medium Drones in this set-up - 5 T1 Hammerheads, 5 T2 Hammerheads. Ammo: Anti Matter for the 425's, Plutonium for the 350's.
For some missions, I'll swap to blasters and put in a webber in place of a Cap Charger. Sometimes I take out the plate and put in a DC II and fit as many guns as possible. Depends on the mission. In a few missions, I take out the AB and put in a Sensor Booster and go to factional ammo to snipe because the rats I'm dealing with are far away and attack at well over 100KM and it is hell on your tank to close the distance.
With the huge amount of HP I find I can use a T2 LAR a very, very long time before I get into any kind of cap problem. With the T2 drones (used for killing pesky frigates at close range) I can avoid the web problem. After killing spider drones, webbers, and jammers, I bring them in and release the T1 drones to help with damage and because I this attitude of "who cares if they get blown up, I'll make more."
My fighting distance is 32KM, the end of my optimal range using Anti-Matter in my 425's and Plutonium in my 350's. I tend to not get below 45% in cap. If I get below 35%, I'm out of there. This rarely happens.
Some battleships like to get close and some fights start toe-to-toe with BS' in Level IV. That's why I have the heavy NOS. It doesn't see a lot of use. But it's come in handy more than once.
It's not quite as fast at Level IV's as my other character's Raven. But once the gunnery skills get equivelent to her missile skills, it should be pretty close.
