Edited by: darth solo on 23/01/2004 17:21:20 i will agree, without instant jump BM and safe spots, the game would be alot more interesting.
basically if you have some1 in the system, u will be able to find them, i think that will be rather fun.
Iv not got any safe spot BM, you see me, u can find me.
Edit= i will be starting to use them though, to catch rats we have to start playing them at their own game , might start later tonight. d solo.

Yeah, get rid of insta-dock/jump and safe spots, would make everything better.

warp disruptor fields for insta jumps and new recon ships for safe spots... when and how effective....who knows
--------------------------------------- Last nights patch, was, without doubt, the worst ever. Rest assured that I was on the forum within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world. |

How is it exploiting Highway Man ? You want to be careful where you throw that word around as its a rather serious accusation.
Ive personally not seen any reference from CCp or GM's stating that making bookmarks using a big button clearly marked 'add bookmark' is an exploit. OMG OMG opening your cargo is an exploit ...
I suppose you dont have any safe spot bookmarks to run away to then ? Get a clue nub

It is SO an exploit!
You are exploiting your capability to open your cargo hold! Do you deny that? _______________________________________________________________________

Creative name there pal. jjjgg, that must have taken loads of your mental capacity to dream up.
Warping to a safe spot and instajumping are not the same thing. If you think they are, then, your not worth my time to discuss it.
You are exploiting a KNOWN flaw, and that is insta-jumping and docking. If everyone used them, where would the risk be? Do you, being an acknowledged carebear need a risk-free game to be happy?

There are better ways of solving your problem than ejecting the Bookmark system, like those methods mentioned in the recent Dev meeting.
Keep the BM, spend time adding new content instead.

Maybe they could make bm use dependent on ship. Fair enough you shouldnt need to bm to insta jump in a cruiser or BS but for an indy it should be allowed.

"WTF, I am so tired of ppl who exploit the game with these. Any ETA on their final demise?"
Not gonna happen, CCP tried to pull that crap b4 last patch, until they realized how ignorant it would have been for them to do so.
Penalizing every player at every gate with longer travel times coupled with the slower speeds, is an assinine gate camper ignorant POV.
I'm glad CCP did not cator to this group, and did not go forward with the axing of BM's just b4 Castor's release.
You will have to wait for warp inhibitors...

if the person using instajump bookmarks took the time and risk to make those bookmarks, then it's fine by me. He worked to get safer passage/faster travelling, so it's good. It's not an exploit!!
Let me explain it to you: A bookmark is placed somewhere so you can warp to that spot again later on. THe person goes to gates he knows he's gonna use often ( or he knows it's dangerous to pass through ) and puts bookmarks that get him closer to the gate. Still following? good! Well then, problem solved, NOT an exploit!!!
I swear if I catch you bookmarking some loot tainers because your hold is full and you want to come back for them later, I'm reporting you you little exploiter!!!! --------------------------------------------

As per usual, leave it to the cearbears to make wrong assumptions. I never asked to get rid of all bookmarks did I? My whole point is that it is neigh impossible to hold territory as it is in Eve. These insta-jump bm's make it risk free to travel in 0.0 and prevent any group from controling territory. Before you flame on, take time TO READ THE BOX!!! It clearly emphasises territorial control.
As for the increased travel time, I have no sympathy. Why should you abuse game mechanics while the rest of us take 30 sec's to gate?

Because you are too lazy to make them instajump bookmarks?
And don't you EVER call me a carebear. The only carebear in here is you.
And as was said before, Pirating is not meant to be easy.
And if you now say you're a gate camper, but a "good" guy trying to gank pirates at a gate, wel tough luck, that's pirating, and falls under the same statement as above. --------------------------------------------

I agree, Insta-jump BMs take alot of time to make, and u can only use em for routes u take often. U put in the time first, and get a reward for that later.
PKs have it easy enough as it is to disturb an honest man's work...

From my experiance of BM's some indi's use them to get past me at gates, ok fair play to them, they took the time, risk and effort to make them.
What amuses me, is that, as soon as i start to use them when hunting down people, i am called lame in local channel.
So its ok for indi's and other people to use them? but as soon as i used them, im lame...
Any how, with the implementation of new warp disruption fields etc. thier effectiveness will reduce, as will the use of safe spots with additional features coming into the game.

I agree that insta-jump BMs should go... I don¦t use them, they¦re rude... and slipping past a gate is easy enough as it is, especially with the 15km warp-in distance. xxx Atea. |

Creative use of bookmarks isnt exploiting. I'm sick and tired of people claiming it is too. CCP have said it's not an exploit but that they ARE going to introduce Warp scramblers for the gates and Scout ships to find the "hidden" bookmarks.
Hell you dont even NEED hidden bookmarks... just run down your cap and jump and you drop into the hidden areas... getting rid of bookmarks wouldnt stop this.

Too lazy? FFS, that is not the issue. Its abusing weak game mechanics. For the record, I neither pirate OR pvp. I am a production guru. I mine for basics in 0.0, unlike your ilk I dont strip 1.0's in my "battleship" wink wink. Your Apoc has probably never left .5 space, LOL.

ok, I need an answer, is english not your first language? Because you completly missed my point. INSTA-JUMP BOOKMARKS NEED TO GO!!!!!!! There, do you guys get it now? Using a bookmark to travel through hostile space RISK FREE is a joke and a tool of the carebears.

Making the game slower by nerfing ship speeds was understandable, but removing BM's will put an end to long distance travelling and exploring for me... and thus will end my time in EVE. I play to have fun, and travelling without BM's aint fun.
If pirates are too dumb to figure out ways to get people who use BM's or are too impatient to wait for warp distruptors to come out then thats thier problem and not the games.
For the record I know of TWO ways to still get ships that use insta-jump BM's (not always 100%) but it IS possible - I've had first-hand experience.

Also, again, I am not in favor of removing bookmarks, just insta-jump greifng.

Known carebear ? wtf are you on you nub
As for the name I enquired about changing it but alas CCP wont do it, your name is even lamer because you obviously picked it on purpose but what the hell has someones name got to do with you inability to adapt tactics. Highway Man, wow must have taken months to pick such a cr@p name ? Hmm I want to pirate but cant think of a good name so Highway man will do.
Insta jumps wah wah wah , boo hoo Im such a nub I cant adapt and sit on other side of gate with a quick lock frigate and get everyone warp scrambled before they can warp away. You sir arent worth my time because I assure you you have no idea

With a name like Highway Man I assumed you was moaning about insta jumps due to your obvious lack of a clue of how to catch people.
You come on here giving it the big I AM to folks you dont even know. Digging me out because of my lame name or peoples first language is pathetic.
You are clearly the carebear in this thread, cry me a river
