According to the guide
Flying is defined as the ability to strap a couple of 10Mn Microwarp Drive II's to your pod, firing yourself at a planet, and then missing it after being distracted by a random event. During this moment of complete suprise and distraction, you will actually be too busy to notice the moment of impact, and so it wont happen, leaving you flying.

go to the system that is called ziona i think, look outside one of the stations and there is a giant 42 in space made from 42 cans :)

i tried starting something similar in 2005 (good god have i been around THAT long?) it failed due to my lack of interest in the whole thing when I realised what a big job it is. I recently nerfed the whole thing because it was being targeted by spambots.
