I have been given a storyline to haul 1500m3 and I really cannot be bothered. i would rather spemnd the time grinding out to get my first L3 agent.
What are the implications if I don't do storylines ?
Some old sweat once told me you must do them all or they stope getting offered which at higher levels is a bad thing I assume.

Edited by: Boknamar on 12/07/2007 18:18:44 Edited by: Boknamar on 12/07/2007 18:16:25 I've been using level 4 agents for months, I'm approaching 8.5 standing with the Gallente Federation, and I turn down storyline missions from time to time. It's caused me no noticeable setbacks. However, if you don't want to do it, then don't accept it, and turn it down before it expires. Do not ignore it and let it expire.
Upon further thought, it occurs to me that your friend may have been talking about cosmos missions. You definitely don't want to turn those down. However, normal storyline agents will continue offering missions to you even if you refuse them.

1500 m3 is really not a lot of stuff to haul. One trip in an Iteron I, or whatever basic cargo ship you can fly. It's worth it for the faction standing reward even if the monetary reward isn't that much.

Thanks, good info.
Re the Cosmo missions, I take it it will mention this in the brief.
As you can see I am a mission running Noob (as well as a PvP Noob, Mining Noob etc etc)

Never ignore an offer. Either accept it or refuse it. If you let it expire it will count as though you failed the mission.
Now the implications:
If you are grinding standing in order to use better agents in a particular faction, then you will want to do the storyline as you can open up agents with your high faction standing even if your corp standing is low to that particular corp (Above -2.0)
If you are grinding standing in order to use better agents in a particular corp, then you will want to check the corp of the storyline agent and if it is the same corp then you will want to do the storyline as you will get large increases. If the storyline agent is not of the same corp, then you can refuse it as the standings aren't what you are after.

if you really can't be bothered (which is fair enough) just create a courier contract to haul the stuff for you, just don't accept the storyline mission until someone has completed the contract.
storlyine missions will wait for ages until the dissapear, so no rush... and you should earn more than enough to cover the cost of a courier contrat and make a decent profit.

The thing you have to haul doesn't appear until the mission is accepted. You aren't able to substitute anything from the market because they are all unique items. The 1500m3 item in this mission is just one item that takes up 1500m3. It's not a stack of regular trade goods totalling 1500m3 that could be obtained from anywhere.
