It doesn't have any effect on their financial situation because the cards are allready sold and the money is in CCP's pockets. ------------------

I think everyone is pointing out the disrailment from the logic train when the OP states that CCP recieves no money from GTC's. The cost of purchasing isk is irrelevant when looking at the OP's conclusion. GTC's are not free, its basic economics just because you yourself did not spend money on the game time code does not in fact mean that no one paid anything for the game time code. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH = the first lesson in economics this person needs to learn. Your own personal opinion about isk farmers does not warrent blatent avoidance of facts. Actually, it seems to be the exact opposite, as seen by the recent fall in ebay isk prices. Since players have a legal way to acquire isk for cash (via GTC trade) they are less tempted to use the isk blackmarket, for fear of getting caught and banned. Thus the isk sellers have been finding it harder and harder to find customers willing to take the risk given the legal alternative, which is forcing down the price. Hopefully the price of isk on ebay will reach a point so low that the isk farmers move on as it is no longer worth their while. It is like legalizing alcohol after prohibition in America, sure I could continue to buy cheap bath tub gin from a gangster, but since it can be legally bought with no risk of going blind from a liquor store the 50% savings isn't worth the risk. I'm not going to say that the OP explained the situation accurately. What I will say is that he points to something that has the potential to be problematic. If there ever comes a time when the amount of prepaid time that CCP has to honor exceeds the amount of revenue coming in to sustain the game, the game would suffer financially. That could happen when GTCs and ETCs bought last quarter are being cashed in this quarter. See, ISK and prepaid game time are being constantly consumed. However, the rate of consumption is fixed, and prepaid game time can get stockpiled. If it ever gets to the point where more people are cashing in stockpiled prepaid time than are paying in to sustain the game providers, the game will have to close regardless of how many of us enjoy playing it. I won't say that it isn't working now. What I will say is that I wouldn't be suprised if someday, we'll see two headlines: "More players playing EVE than ever before!," followed by, "EVE closes down due to lack of revenue." Ultimately, this game runs on the backs of those who pay, not those who play.
