Hello,
I play Eve religiously, even in Church; it is the purpose of my life, the cup of coffee in the morning, and the lover in my bedroom.
I am curious about the impact playing Eve-Online has on other players. My intention is to learn about the balance of living a wealthy life-style while also getting a daily dose of Eve; Is it possible?
Questions for players - What do you do in real life? - How much time do you play Eve? - How has Eve impacted your life? - What is your intention while playing Eve? - What long-term goals do you have for your Eve experience?
My current situation I'll be honest; I'm a 20 year old virgin that lives in my mother's basement. I don't have an income. I spend every hour I don't sleep playing Eve-Online. Eve has inspired me to live; usually I'm suicidal. My intention is to keep myself busy doing something I like. My long-term goal in Eve is to establish an alliance of 5000 members known as "Revolutionary Freedom Fighters" to overthrow Concord so we can govern and control the majority of Empire space.
How do you compare?

Edited by: MotherMoon on 18/07/2007 07:33:33 Questions for players - What do you do in real life? go to digipen for my nimation degree, work at the zoo during the summer - How much time do you play Eve? a lvl 4 mission a day keeps the doctor away -How has Eve impacted your life? not at all. I geek out when someone mentions it. I bought EON 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 so I guess my pocket has been hurt of the past 2 years a bit. my girlfriends thinks I'm sillier than normal. err it hasn't :P well no it made me want to work at CCP. - What is your intention while playing Eve? stare at the pretty spaceships, make friends, fly missions, secure great wildlands and win the allaince tournament. - What long-term goals do you have for your Eve experience? same as above, win the allaince tournament and hit big with the T3 market when that comes out. o
oh and to put every stupid wow player in their place.
p.s. were jerks here to people like you, I was feeling in a good mood. oh and the adverge player age is 28 so yeah :P ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP |

There will come a time, little one, that you will begin to get bored with Eve. The lag, desynchs etc. and you will sit in your hangar and start to spin your ship. Eventually the ship spinning will be the only motivation to log in. A few days later you will begin to browse the forums more, your love of eve will be waining but the communities pretty sigs and cries of 'IBTL' (or 'skilless noob' if you read the crime and punishment forums) will draw you in. You will become addicted to the eve-o forums and from that, there is no escape.

Run my own small automation-related company. Nearly 30 years old. We do stuff™. Won't go into details, it's boring. Slack off, slightly less income. Work hard, no free time. I generally slack off as much as possible (i.e. affordable).
- How much time do you play Eve?
Really depends. Not very much lately. Glorified chatbox mostly, while swapping skills and shifting market orders around.
- How has Eve impacted your life?
Much more as most games I've played, yet it's not the one with most influence. Pretty low impact, overall, I'd say... not negligible, though (on occasions).
- What is your intention while playing Eve?
To play EVE. I play for the sake of playing. Past-time, you know. Some short-term and a few long-term goals, sure, but nothing out of the ordinary. Oh, and whorum foring. I am more addicted to forum PvP than in-game PvP.
- What long-term goals do you have for your Eve experience? Skill collector FTW. Still, remaining unlearned skills are quite... expensive. So, I guess, "making ISK" is also sort of a long-term goal... but that's also everybody else's goal too.

Oh, I guess you're in good company then, you'll find at least a couple hundred (maybe even over a thousand) other players in a very similar situation, and with nearly impossible high goals quite like yours. Heck, if you somehow manage to find eachother, get together and stick around without feeling like gutting every other one of the group, you might just be capable of reaching that goal... I mean, hey, one name... GoonSwarm.

Thank you for the honesty. Personally, I'm unaffected by the good or bad opinions of others; I'm here to please myself. Do what feels good; even if it's being a jerk. As my wealthy cousin Ben always says: Better a jerk than a pus*y!

Two years ago I was already there! I left Eve-Online and now I have returned. This time I pilot Eve with the wisdom of Organizing Power from Think and Grow Rich (by Napoleon Hill). By accomplishing small daily goals to grow and prosper I will keep myself fulfilled, away from the distress of quiting.

Well, you are going to fail. Even if you came up with a plan that would allow you to overthrow CONCORD, CCP would just change the game mechanics to prevent your plan from working. Look at the speed they changed the game mechanics the last time a group of players tried to make empire unsafe.
ffs, go out get a job and a girl. Trust me, real life >> Eve.

that won't happen :P CCP won't be closing anytime soon. CCp has become a huge success and it will be for the next 100 years easy. even if eve-online closes it's doors, it would only be to open to doors to the new awesome thing CCP makes. ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP |

the problem is that when the low hits in eve >> RL even when both have their low...
the lows in RL are too harsh. it would be something like EVE with only noob clones. you lose more than you win. and THAT sucks
the good thing with eve is that your losses arent nearly as bad as your winnings are good, contrary to RL

Edited by: Sartaron on 18/07/2007 08:47:47 Eve, as any other MMORPG will burn your time away. Just be careful, that you don't play too much. The time you realize it has a remarkable impact on your RL, is the time you have to realize that it is not a game for you anymore. This is, when you have to start to think about yourself.

Questions for players - What do you do in real life? --> I work for the Dutch Goverment
- How much time do you play Eve? During the week about 45 mins a day, when the wife is out about 4 hours.
- How has Eve impacted your life?
Not realy. Played other games (No MMORG's) I still concider a game as being a game, and not a way of life. It something to entertain me. When i'm getting bored i just leave (NO, no one will get my stuff!)
- What is your intention while playing Eve?
Get rich, or die trying. No... Just to have fun with my corpmates.
- What long-term goals do you have for your Eve experience?
Non. i dont want to be the best, nor the richest. I just want to have fun.

Well, i'm turning 26 this month, i'm workng in a computer shop, as head of the service/warranties department. It's preety intense some time, and painfully boring other times, overall an intresting job. I'm about to have a wife, and move to a new home soonÖ. About EvE...oh well i started to play in 2004, i had my account stollen (never filed a petition, but i probabbly will) and stopped until 2007. It's a great universe, and being a SciFi addict as me...it makes me happy to play.

In real life, I attend Appalachain State University. Sophomore this year. During the summer, I work at a small Nonwovens place (where I am now).
How much time do I play? Probably 4-5 hours a day during the week right now, mostly because Im just too damn tired to go out and do anything during the week. During the weekend, im lucky if I get an hour in. Starting in August, probably just enough to change skills.
Impacted my life? Besides not wasting 15$ a month on WoW, not much.
Intentions while playing Eve? Have fun really, I want to be able to start getting into Alliance battles soon.
Long term goals, see above.
