I think you guys are all seeing my point but no one has really answered the question. There are good rats and an abundance of stuff to do so I am wondering why no one entity has tried to claim it after SE/SA. Yes there are a lot of entities down there but that's because there has been no one or two big groups that can keep it. My memories in Stain are some of my fondest and I'm wondering why it has remained unclaimed all this time. Edited by: Boomershoot on 20/07/2007 16:38:28 stain is a warm and confortable place where the npc reverence you, opening their station for free to you, offering tributes in BS and officers to be killed, and also have some decent place to mine some ice (must...not...carebear...)
also, you find pvp just moving for 5-6 sys away.
a nice place, afterall :P
PS lots of officer spawns but less-than-avreage loot :|

*drool* love Stain.. been here most of my eve life =)
well... Stain is mainly owned by -A- (north) and SE (mid)... i don't know about the south tough... but because the large amount of ppl in Stain, it's hard to kick everybody out... cause as soon as you step aside, other ppl would move in again, lol... ------------- CCP employee: "look this is broken, lets fix it" later: "\o/ yay, fixed" result: the thing that was broken is still broken, in the process they also broke some other stuff... I've only lived in stain a short time but it's been awesome, I can see why large alliances wouldn't want to waste the time to camp people enough to leave tho. Generally control comes down to several of the choke point systems in stain. The first hardcore pvp alliance that wants to spend about 6 months of nothing but camping stations while camping exit/entry points into stain will take the whole region. However stain is full of very skilled pvpers from many alliances and even just solo gankers on a joyride that you would need a very rich and very skilled alliance to take it.

Too far away really. Have our own things to deal with atm. I can also appreciate the fact that there are a lot of people there, I just asked why no one entity can hold it, that is all. Oh well, Lets see... SE is mainly the Xenobytes, still living in Stain. (Shifu rocks!) -A- consists of RAT, The Collective (EX-SA-Corp) PPN-United (Three ex- SE Corps, PROE, P.S.I, NOS) and some other Russian Corps, (VVS, RTSQ) some of them have come from SE as well.
As you see, a big Part of Stain is still occupied and defended by the original Owners from 2-3 years ago. :-)
I myself live there for two years now and call it home. Probably the best sunsets in the whole EVE-Universe... :-)

My former alliance, Ion Core lived and grown in Stain for months. It was good and really FUN to live down there. Small pvp: 1 - 15 jumps, fleet pvp 5 - 20 jumps A lot of people and entities, so good market and interesting politics. No need to worry about the POS stuff. Pure fun :)
Only what is bad about Stain are poor minerals for miners, annoying hostiles living in your station :D and the unability to build supercaps there.
Why nobody don't want to control whole region you ask? Because it's boring and pointless.
PS. WTS/WTB minerals in Stain Regards to ugly, blood thirsty XB faces which i'm still seeing in 4gq local twice a week hehe

Minerals are indeed bad here, but I agree with all your positive points. The NPC stations makes it possible even for a small corp to give it a try, and with some friends it's certainly doable
To the OP, ofc. the stations makes it all the more difficult for one entity to control it all. Which IMHO is good. Stain is fun ordered chaos! -- Do you need research services for your blueprints? We have available slots in Metropolis region. Look up my bio for info! |

Originally by: Sean Dillon I lived with fm corp for a short while in stain, boy did they get poor pvp. They sat hours on end at the same gate camping hostiles that were docked long before we got there. Compared to that I had alot more fun with triumvirate in venal.
Poor pvp = FMC tbh dude. I fought them for a few months, whilst flying with them too before hand, and they really do suck :S So my guess is the lack of pvp, was cos they were camping a gate into an empty deadend system

Here is the thing though, SE/SA was able to "own" Stain region. Given there were always hostiles but for the most part everywhere you went it was the alliance. That is what I'm asking, why hasn't 1 alliance been able to maintain it. And true the mining is poor but the rats are plentiful and it is a fun region period, I would think someone would want it. Well part of what makes Stain fun is the anarchy-style area it is. Dont have to go more than 3 jumps anytime to find something to shoot at in local. Be it farmers who cloak/log, or just real players roaming around. Wouldnt be all that fun if the region was strictly run by one alliance exclusively.
Edit: And probably not even possible/worth the effort given the crapload of npc stations.

some days ago i got another one while scanning down a npcing raven in w-q (deeeeep stain)

Wrong good sir, I doubt that anyone would argue that SE/SA didn't run the area. There were always hostiles, yes, but it was our area.
