Adding more hollywood type people to america is only hurting our image, and hes making 50m a year for 5 years. What a waste of money, go back to england or spain(if you play eve and see this). Take him back england! or even spain.

I concur. The British media keep thrusting him at us thinking we like him. And whoever thinks Victoria Beckham is sexy needs to go to Specsavers. She is a moose! A MOOSE YOU HEAR? Let's put it like this; it's now trendy to hate Paris Hilton, but if she offered, I'd still hit her because, although she's a tart, she an extremely attractive one. V Beckham on the other hand; I would succinctly say no.
David is actually alright until he starts talking. Speech is his downfall. He should refrain from speaking and just give a menacing look at the cameras. But overall, I'm glad they're out of the UK. Hopefully the British media will find more intellectual people to idolise. (The Beckham hype is fueled by the media, not by the public).

It's Football, not soccer. What you Yanks call Football has nothing to do with feet. American Football should be renamed to Rugby With Armour (or Armor in your case).

Posh is hot, especially for someone in their 30's.
And being with how fat America is anything that has a chance to improve our societies health is a big plus.
So, i open up my arms with a big hug to Posh and David and hope they can get soccer more attention and maybe more kids playing.

One thing I like about the Beckhams is that they make Americans look a little less stupid. Europeans like to call Americans dumb, but then Victoria is just as big an idiot as Paris Hilton. Lilly Allen doesn't hurt much either.

American Football is called football becasue it evolved directly from regular football and rugby football. Different colleges in the US experimented with different rule changes and over time the sport was totally changed. The armour didn't come in until after the War because of injuries. It actually had a negative impact though, because now players just hit each other harder.

Much like boxing actually. In the days of bare knuckle fighting blows to the head were less common because it was very easy to break the bones in the handss. The padding in gloves allows fighters to work each other's heads over. I've also heard that shorter rounds combined with improved fitness make things worse as instead of pacing a bout the fighters are more likely to just pile into each other. Although none of this applies to Audley Harrison 
And I think people are a little harsh on David Beckham, he's a pretty boy with a glamourous (although god knows why) wife who's very good (but not great) at Football and has marketed himself to his best advantage.
And to those who say LA Galaxy made a mistake in signing him I say wait a while. See how the endorsement and shirt sales pan out. It could be an economic masterstoke, although it probably won't be.

Football/soccer: the most popular sport in the world.
I saw a football/soccer game with American commentary; the commentators were screaming and shouting at every pass/tackle in an effort to make it sound exciting. Plain stupid, these weren't exciting moments.
Not every second of every game is going to be exhilarating, but when magic happens the beauty of the moment is clear. In many other sports, there is no creation, nothing new. Just many occurrences of something mediocre.

Other than that it¦s rugby with padding and some useless rules so that TV can pump as many commercials into a game as possible.

You don't give beckam credit where he is due, He is no longer a good football player, he was a world class player and he still managed to sell himself the man is made now he can retire at the end of the 5 years and live happy.

Unfortunately for Beckham he's playing with a seriously deficient squad. In other words; Beckham won't be able to play at his best with a bunch of Sunday League footballers. The Americans are going to expect miracles from him but he isn't George Best. He can't dribble and weave from one end of the pitch to the other. He's a crossing player and in a crap team there won't be anyone to cross to.
As for Victoria, I doubt she'll make an impact in the US. She's busy with the Spice Girls just now but once that's done in a year or so's time I think the American's will be glad to forget about her.

Soccer is boring. The only interesting things about it is when someone scores and it only happens on average probably 2-3 times a game (a guess) and when the fans get into fights (which in Europe, happens in every game). Please, tell me, whats so great about soccer or as you call it "football"?

Here in the United States, Women's College Softball draws more viewer-ship then MLS, even WITH Beckham. I would be shocked if he actually stays the whole 5 years of this contract.

The same reason you read (and enjoy) a whole book, and not just the ending. Scoring isn't the only good bit (or, indeed, the best bit).

The sport is about ATHLETES training and playing hard, not billionaire rich boys.
Gimme provincial football anyday over hollywoodized glamorized effeminate "athletes" like David Beckham.
Thats one thing I love about Europe over my own country, more pride in small local teams.

That sport will never be big in the USA.
Many children in this country are brought up playing "soccer" these days, mainly because boys and girls can play it together, and it's not a rough sport, so Mom's want their sons to play that instead of American Football because they don't want little Johnny getting hurt.
Well, when kids grow up, and the jock mentality & peer pressure set in, they change to American Football. The only ones who stick with soccer are the ones who are very talented, whose Moms still wont let them play football, or the ones who would get killed playing football.
Any other normal high school male jock is going to play football.
Here is why our sport is called football: American Football
In the USA, soccer is NOT a manly sport. Both men and women in this country like watching manly sports. Soccer is viewed as a sport that is more finesse than anything, which translates to gheyness for the American sports fan...

Football was never one of my strongest sport, Although I was on the school teams for Rugby and Cricket. Being a prop can be hard, especially when you get studs to the face or someone gets a sly dig at your face in a scrum.
