BURN EDEN Terra Incognita.

As many have asked I will attempt to tell what I have seen in my travels around Eve the last few months.
From my travels around the eve universe.
At this point.....
The north is a complete cluster****. Its a giant free for all, like how the south had once been, and Triumverate are becoming the mainstay power up there. What was once D2 is spread across many regions, and have formed small alliances like Evoke, or joined others in the East and South. Others like IRON, moved East towards the drone regions, while still yet others like MM, and Razor are in a battle to regain thier lost space, even with many pirates and other factions like Burn Eden being hired against them. It seems they are making small progress everyday.
The South,
For a while BoB had moved strongly East, claiming many parts of Tenerifis, and what was once LV's homeland for thier own. Pushing Goons back into areas like the Great Wildlands. This was done while at the same time MC was obliterating the North. However things have changed dramatically. Following the loss of thier first Titan, BoB has been steadily losing ground that they had so recently acquired. Goons and RA, have pushed BoB back West into feythabolis, and period basis. So far none of BoB's homespace has been compromised. Right now the front line is in Rise's front yard, as they defend themselves from KOS, Goons, and RA. Along with the random roaming gangs of Pirates and Burn Eden 8).
Querious,
FIX are doing all they can to hold off the combined power of -A- and IAC. IAC has pushed hard into querious taking a few station systems from what I have heard. FIX are doing thier best, but without BoB and MC support it looks like FIX will soon fall.
Whatever has happened between most in the last few months has quietly been coming down to a show off between RA , Goon, IAC, -A-, and others against BoB, MC , FIX, and Rise. A few months ago it looked like BoB and company had been winning, and they were, now it seems RA and company are. It has been quite a ride, and I dont expect it to end any time soon.

Actually we fell back mostly into southern Detorid and Scalding Pass. Goons have never really had anything to do with Great Wildlands. So far Feyth and anything east of it is entirely uncontested by us, but Omist is a constant warzone with BoB controlling one half and our allies controlling the other. Western Tenerifis is also a warzone between ISS/RISE and KOS. Not much fighting has been happening in eastern Tenerifis (ex-LV space) except for the odd gang fight here or there.

You forgot that BoB sent OS and his Titan to FIX in 49-. I hear IAC got DDD'ed. A sign of things to come? They can't beat the RaGoons so maybe they will change fronts before they get completely pushed back so they can say "oh we left...wtf pets!? why are you losing!? bad pets!! bad!!"

Let us not give KOS credit for putting anyone on the "defensive". From what I have seen they engage only those who come to them and rarely, if ever, stray from hugging the station. Let's not throw them in lot with other formidable enemies.

from what i understand of the north, MM had never lost any ground and RZR had lost it all over a period of a month or so. however as many of you may remember there was a forum post and a vid made on "how the north was defeated in 3 months" i believe a week and a bit after that video was releaced all RZR space that had been lost had been reclaimed.
Furthermore i think the north is still a real mess. We have sparta on the far west naping everyone in sight trying to beat down Tri who are moving across the map with startling efficiency. FATAL and M.pire have been doing alot of carebear stuff and i think FATAL just got involved with sparta defence a few days ago...
tri has just finished stomping on vigil and AA and seems to be moving east still. most of reminants of the north are not sympathetic to sparta as they are notorious turncoats and are certainly not sympathetic towards fatal, m.pire or storm armada who fought to destroy them not 2 months ago. so yes... it is like a huge free for all... i suspect things will get alot more interesting soon with cult of war purchasing a station from MC. i wonder if they will slaughter all in sight or nap everyone sparta style.
i suspect things will get alot messier in teh north before they start to get better.

The story with VX is a mess, who knows other than their leadership back stabbed and disbanded handing Tri a NAP for their POS deployment in YAO, hardly a fold from pressure.
AA fought, and fought hard, hoping to keep a buffer from Tri and limit their foothold to farm Dek for PVP. Of course Tri hasn't had to deal with pos spamming (ie fuels n such) to hold space before, and any skilled PVP'er knowns how to make money so there is plenty to be used. Tri has utilized the Euro time zone, spamming 5 POS's before DT and 5 after, and thus proving to be too much. After brining the fight over and over with little hope, all you can do is o/ and move on. Fallen Souls loosing a hearty part of their PVP wing to Tri pretty much whacked plans for them to ease AA VFK situation.
Today in UEJ... Desync fest and GM *****s. Multi day camps ruined by a single desync, one hardly felt by the enemy, in what would have been an epic battle, is just a sad state of affair.

The north is changing so fast, that one day we make a emergency meeting to decide what to do, and 12 hours later the meeting is canceled because the situation has evolved to where we have a cta... lol
Right now it's going from free for all, to coalition blobs in old daoc zerg style, you bring n friends so your enemy brings n + 1 and so on until the whole north is divided in 2 sides.

so all in all, an accurate and short version of the war can be summed up on the following:
north: major cluster****.
south: epic ****storm.
oh btw, in no ways this is a flame. just saying that TQ's hamsters on the servers are sweatin' gallons every day, and the desyncs and lag are ruining everyone's fun ---

Yup.
The last month has outpaced the rest of the war combined, in both the north and the south, when it comes to entertainment, both in terms of politics and major events / battles.
At the start, I absolutely would have believed the war would still be going on in July (and soon August). I wouldn't have believed that it would be getting more and more interesting this far into it though.

This does not mean that IAC -A- BOS (all the POS are actually held by brotherhood of steel) MASS and some straggler helper are not giving us hell.

You are very wrong on 2 aspects. First of all, although BOB was repelled by RAGOON - for the first time, after the titan loss they are hardly broken. They still have 3 titans, a crapload of MS's and a very powerfull capital fleet. Even with the nerfed titans, they are still valuable logistics tools. This is my personal opinion but with the desync crap, i think BOB avoided putting lots of capitals at risk.
FIX haven't lost one station so far to IAC/AAA. I think they have one that is in danger ... 49-u i think.

Looks at map....Nopes, I'm not in Feyth. The fight is in Omist as UNL and TCF spammed it nicely during "BoB's Week Off". We don't defend from KOS as they never attack but TCF have stepped up activities as have UNL. A new alliance called Venom is now in the fray helping out RaGoon so BoB curently faces the full force of RA, Goon, TCF, UNL and Venom (though Venom appear to be alot smaller on numbers).
Just a smack-free post for accuracy.

So the 50+ KOS pilots that helped down cyno jammers were just there staring into space? The other time we moved in to assist we sat around for hours due to the lack of targets at that time of day. I'm not saying we're playing a large role in the fight for D2E in anyway, but don't just brush it aside because your too busy pulling every asset you have out of KOS space as fast as you can to keep up the pos spam.

Northern bit is highly inaccurate, almost seems like it was designed to undermine the Northern Coalition.
MM and Razor are the main powers in the North, i'm not sure how that could be factually disputed.
I also would beg to differ that "small progress everyday" means taking a region back in a weekend.
Just my thoughts though.

Edited by: Orree on 25/07/2007 16:32:48 Yeah, I'd have to agree that the Northern piece of the update lacks some polish.
The North is indeed the relative free-for-all that people describe it to be. Frankly, its glorious. I spoke months ago about a new paradigm in the North and the fact that few if any of us wanted to return to the way it was. We like it like this. Politics and diplomacy in the area are ever-evolving. Differing agendas rule the day. The one constant appears to be the the long time residents of the North have little use for the new residents and there is pretty much where the battle lines are drawn. Even these lines are clouded as entities red to each other will band together temporarily to strike at the new northern residents. Granted Sparta are not technically "new" up here, but they are certainly in new digs and have aligned themselves with the new residents.
In my view there is no central power in the North that is far and away the most powerful. There are many power blocs in play up here. The territorial situation is quite fluid although higher sovereignty levels are being achieved and the more powerful entities are digging in. It's Fight Club up here.
I completely agree that TRI has become a major power in the North. Whether or not they want to stay in the dreadful business of sovereignty and POS fueling remains to be seen. It isn't fun. They are the new owners of Deklein and MM, for one, welcomes them to the party.
Morsus Mihi, Pure and Hydra have retained their space throughout the war thus far--- MC stopping at Tenal being a major reason. Razor lost their space but was restored to Tenal a few weeks later when Terror in the System was quickly and summarily kicked out of Tenal and subsequently disbanded despite their best efforts and those of their friends (who I understand to have been very disappointed in their efforts).
I'm reminded of an interesting thread:
Razor aren't a space-holding alliance
..in which pershphanie states:
RzR are losing tenal because you can't fit nano fit a dreadnaught. If they could then razor would rule the universe. Bob would have no chance. Unfortunately that's not how things work. Only time will tell if losing their space will kill razor, but it will shrink them significantly as well as reduce their capabilities. At the moment razor are what they are. An alliance with a small highly skill roaming pvp force. No doubt that those guys can continue to be successful where ever they go. As far as the rest of them, who knows. Seems like they were not meant to be a space holding alliance, but a roaming alliance. I think we are doing them a favor by removing the burdens of holding space from them. Your welcome razor.
Two weeks later, Terror in the System is bounced out of Tenal by fleets led by Razor and now Terror in the System is dead. How funny is that? How nice things must have looked when MC was doing all the heavy lifting. You're welcome, pershphanie.

Yeah as I see it if you wish to simplify the north it can best be understood as being made up of 3 powers.
1) Northern coalition: currently primarily going at it with the bob friendlies who took over IRON and D2's old holdings 2) Tri: currently raiding and being raided by the north but mainly focused on grabing a chunk of D2's old space for themselves by removing recent imigrants. 3) New North: trying to estabish homes for themselves and keep from being removed by powers 1 and 2.
So power 1 and 2 doen't like each other but kind respect eachother and dislike power 3 more so aren't trying to take actual space from each other atm, though it wouldn't suprise me if that changed in the future.
My perdiction is that power 1 and 2 will remover power 3 acting more or less independently and stumble across eachother in the middle shooting then begin activly trying to take each others space, likely leading to some portions of power 3 to exist in remote regions 1 and 2 aren't that interested it. After that who knows... though i think it will be along time before the north is stable enough for power 1 to activly begin going after bob systems again if the higher ups are even interested in rejoining that aspect of the war.
As a member of power 1 i'm obviously biased and i must note i have no idea what our comanders are actually planing. ------- Even my barge has kills... |

A new alliance called Venom is now in the fray helping out RaGoon so BoB curently faces the full force of RA, Goon, TCF, UNL and Venom (though Venom appear to be alot smaller on numbers).

As an ex D2 member that still lives up north I can say the North has become a giant play ground.
In a way it was good that D2 got thier asses handed to them cos I have noticed that the carebearish mentality that prevailed in the North b4 the war has disapeared. Every day the intel channels have reports of hostiles and blues that form up to hunt them. Mpire, fatal and other reds constantly raiding us, if there is no-one raiding us then we goto venal to look for trouble with the local pirates.
The North has a totaly different mindset compared too b4 the war and I really do find it fun to live here now.

What happend to the North the past months imho gave a great deal more than took from the old residents. More like a cleansing than defeat, the steer up of power showed who is entitled to hold space of his own and who's not. Moreover it created strong bonds betwin alliances and raised the trust and faith of players toward thier alliances by not crumbling due to lost space.
New residents like Tri Fatal etc have to earn thier right to hold northern space.Holding to passing by friend will just delay the end as with Terror.I.T.S.

Not many BoB comments here, that's for sure, or RA's.
I find though that the happenings in the south are the ones crushial for the outcome of the war. Not the ones in the North. Should BoB attack North, Razor won't be able to fight them off, probably.
So i wonder what is happening in the south. The loss of 300bil isk as well as the desync problem might explain why BoB are holding back. But it does not explain why BoB did not take 77s8 when they began their invasion of the south. All they did was to take space that was abandoned by the Coalition.
Does anyone have some real insight as to what is happening to BoB and why aren't they taking space but losing it? The desync argument came into play only lately as well as BoBs BBQ, so why is it that there was no advancement before desync, when Titans and MS were still overpowered?
Is the no one willing to spill it out other that some people who get all their info from the influence map?

I think the war evolved to a stage where there is no more space for fast rushing upon territories and throwing mega engagements. The Major theaters are quite balanced, so that risky leeroy moves are not wise. Keeping the morale high is fundamental for both sides so they are not willing to risk huge defeats. The war moved to a more WW I style warfare, entrenched and slow. The nerfing on super-capitals diminished the chances of huge overpowering pushes powered by fleets of those ships. The front lines are now close to a middle ground were logistic is almost equally complicated for both sides. Pretty much there is no clear path that can lead to annihilation of either side, so steadily but refrained moves are the order of the day.
This war still have a lot of fuel to burn. We just reached the "mature war" state. The path to victory , on either side is still well behind horizon.

Bob's only real territorial expansion was taking 9-9, which at the time was our capital. Omist was never contseted, since few goons cared for it. Few towers were ever really contested either, with both sides spamming the 50+ moons. All fighting was consigned to towers as ultimately having four titans in system made the game unplayable.
The reason no side really went full on against the other's towers is because one side had a numbers and a capital advantage and the other a super capital advantage. Following the super capital nerf and the rise of subcapitals being used to hit towers Bob are slowly withdrawing from territory they can't hold (and which is ultimately superfluous to them as no pet could possibly want it)
Omist is currently a Warzone with Bob doing highly effective hit and run but not really being able to stop the Coalition from taking space. It's fairly balanced at the moment.

Simply the fact that in no station/outpost system FIX holds is the hostile POS count close to matching the FIX POS. Which is the only way to gain sov, which means IAC and -A- are nowhere close to contesting SOV at the moment.

From what I have heard from a friend the situation in Vx was like this:
First a guy called "Frosty" or something took over alliance leadership after the original leader went to RL vacation. The he worked on disbanding the alliance a few days later after Tri deployed a tower - because he and his fellow corps (which are now "Freefall Security") "do not like POS War" and left the rest of Vx alone with no allies. This happened in 4 or 5 days.
Pretty weak but well played since rumours run around that this was intentional by him. Later it showed that this guy was one of the alts of the Ex-KOS leader (I think some LV might remember what happened there). -------------------------------------------

i have to agree besides for the triumvirate has to earn the right to hold space, i would have to say that as an alliance that has warped into a real messy area and has somehow prevailed even though the sheer amounts that was putting a road block on our path
on paper triumvirate should of gotten smacked around, 5 alliances against 1 and 2 other allies that did help out once in awhile but weren't the MAIN alliance putting their ASSets on the line
But eve proves time and time again Quality over Quantity wins a fight (i don't mean only skillpoints but tactics/experience aswell)
Right now the north reminds me of europe during the beginning of world war 2 , germany rolling into poland with tanks and the polish came out and fought on horse back meanwhile russia was coming on the other front
The South reminds me of the roman empire (bob being the romans) rome conquered and either made the people slaves or citizens (pets) rome eventually expanded their borders too much and faced the huns (the southern coalition) can also relate the bob activities as to napoleon when he took big chunks of europe and rushed to moscow and got slapped around
ofcourse my response is biased, what do you expect, i'm in triumvirate and seen the fights 1st hand and seen phyrricc victories time and time again

Thanks for all the info.
One thing I'm curious about though. Is any pressure being put on MC in the north or are northern alliance powers currently fighting mostly non-MC BoB allies? Reason I ask is that from north to south sounds like MC's being asked to do a lot of work. For the sake of the enemies of BoB I hope MC is being asked to do too much.

LOL. If only....
To the person who said that what is going on in the south is more important (to "The War") than what is going on in the north...I couldn't agree more. What was perceived to be "The North" at the start of "The War" was largely taken out of the war.
What is going on up there now doesn't have much to do do with "The War" in a direct sense. It's more like a reorganization. It will likely be months before we have a clear picture of how things are going to shake out. I'd say that for the most part...the battle lines are drawn. Now comes the carnage.
