We knew the deimos was a little rubbish, worked for specific uses, but compared to every other hac, it sucked. Now the ishtar also sucks, i mean, i ask anyone to come up with an ishtar setup that actually works with the nos nerf. Gallente must now be the only race without the usual pattern of one good hac, one naf hac.
My old high slot setup: 2xMedium named nos 3xSmall t2 nos
After the nos nerf blog i thought to myself, neuts mebbe: 2xMedium named neut 3xSmall named neut.
Oh. It wont fit. Oh well, ill go with: 1xMedium named neut. 4xSmall t2 neut.
Oh. My cap will last 24 seconds with cap 800 charges. Not so good. Well ill try blasters: 3xHeavy electron blaster II. 2x...oh wait...hmmm...tractor beams? :s
Maybe a good 'ol rack of light neutron setup: 5x...oh, it only has 3 turrets.
I ask CCP, what are we meant to fit an ishtar with. Realistically i'm think some disturbed combo of: 1x Med neut 1x Med nos 3x Light neutron blaster.
But i can be sure i wont be buying a new one after ive lost this. *trains for command ships*

Ishtar has damage bonus to med hybrid turrets.
It can go very fast with the right low slots/rigs.
It has 5 mids.
It has the AWESOME drone control range bonus.
I wish the Muninn sucked as bad as the Ishtar. _____ CPU Love |

Actually, the Deimos may be more useable now that it wont be so prone to getting capraped.

It was a joke, though it should let you use sentry drones at longer ranges more easily. There was a noisy thread about the Ishtar needing a boost because it had this bonus a week or two ago. _____ CPU Love |

And even then it uses 3000 grid i think. Best cruiser-mountable one is 30km wich is Domination.
Tbh, bonus could be great if it would effect sentry drones. ---

Lol the nos nerf is a boos to the deimos. Before the nerf it would be nossed dry immediately. Now it can control its cap usage with charges keeping cap very low but constant. Now deimos can be useful again in fact.

For people who had no ingenuity of their own when it comes to fittings, and instead have to rely on FOTM setups devised by others... yep, Ishtar will suck post nos nerf.
But for me, since I rarely used NOS on one anyway, the nos nerf will have almost no effect. In fact, Ive made a conscious effort to NOT become dependent on nos in my ship setups for all my ships, not just the ishtar, because I knew sooner or later it was going to get hit hard with the nerfbat.
In short... the only ships which have a legitimate claim to gripe about the nos nerf are the curse/pilgrim/bhalgorn, mainly because those ships are specialized nos boats, and a nos nerf really hits them in the old **** chute. If you are having issues fitting an Ishtar post nos nerf, then the problem isnt the ishtar, its you.

And the noobs who cant think of a viable domi setup without nos are just as bad as the noobs who cant think of a viable ishtar setup. Its really pathetic.

These nos changes render short range warfare a waste of time, the whole reason nos is so powerful is that its hard to get into range to use it. Now theres no reason to get close to a target just sit back at 150-200km and slug it out. All CCP seem to be doing lately is making warfare less mobile and tactical, all i've heard is nerf nos its too powerful. Yes it is powerful at short range, so attack from furthur away. As for people saying that a heavy nos vs a frig drains its cap too fast etc, ones a battleship the others a frig of course the battleship is going to over power the frig.
Oh well enough of a rant, better start training up caldari skills as they never seem to be nerfed.

I've just never really liked nano setups, im probably crap at flying them as ive flown tanks all my life(i was a vexor and domi person instead of a rax and megat), its not my thing, but i guess its what i'll be forced to do.

The Deimos has 5-10% more DPS than the new Sacrilege. That's using Ions with Null, (Void M is lol) for which it requires a grid rig to fit. In exchange for 5-10% more DPS, it has half the range, less than half the tank, and significantly slower speed. The guns use cap while the Sac's don't, and it has to worry about tracking. All in all, not worth it.

How much practical PvP experience do you have? Sit back at 150-200 km and slug it out? ORLY? And I suppose your target will simply just stick around while you pound him?

I'm not saying the Deimos is now top ****, but at least it has one less problem to deal with.

Yes. Clearly the only two options for combat are sniping or nosorgy. foo on you all for thinking any differently.

My Ishtar fit actually BENEFITS from these changes. Now the battleships I fight solo with it won't be using their Heavy nos on me as well.

Of course it does, because it didn't rely on an over-powered, cookie-cutter setup. ------------ This is my alt. There are many like it, but this one is mine... My alt without me is useless. Without my alt, I am useless. |
