Thread to deliver your thoughts on what you think of a gate camp in non-eve terms. There is a word for this, but because I've been drinking and like been throwing chips at a chicken so it would get like wobble, yea, anyway;
A guy gets on an elevator on the top floor, he selects ground floor. When he arrives, the door opens and theres a group of yobs waiting for him with bats, and they all shout; 'ZOMG lets gank him!' And of course most of the yobs have nets to web him, and shotguns to make sure he doesnt warp run away.

Then you get the Gate camp Break-up squad which in real life is (Police). Then they run to set up another gate camp. Then there is always the runs and get chased. Cop chase, and people in local watch it happening Court TV or live on the news. Then boom logs or gets ganked.

He should have taken more notice of the sign that said,
'Go to the ground floor in this elevator and you could get the **** kicked out of you'
As he blatently disregarded the sign he should have taken more care by either sending a nippy little runner before him to check out if the yobs were there or brought his heavily protected brothers along who could fight the yobs.
Tough luck, take heed of the signs or stay on the top floor where it's safe and warm and fluffy.

I'd personally compare it to 18th century naval combat.
You're in ship, and you've got to get somewhere. So you make the choice: Go through unsafe waters and possibly find yourself attacked by pirates, or go around and avoid them.

A gate camp is like a dark alley with about 5 or 6 dudes waitng in the darkness.Then someone wanders in the jump out
and rob and kill you and take your stuff.

ya'll are missing the most hilarious part about a low sec gate camp:
It's like walking up to a gate, opening it, going through the gate where there are five dudes with guns on the other side EXCEPT there are a couple of sad little policemen (sentry guns) pounding pathetically at the guys with guns as they wipe you.

I havent even seen some of the camps i jumped into. just a black screen then my pod in a station and a kill mail a mile long

You turn a corner, Some dude aporaches you with a shot gun, shoots in you the legs and immoblizes you, than shoots your wife, and your baby, than shoots both your kids, rapes your dead wife and children, than shoots you in the head and takes your wallet and car keys.

Gate camping = Gang members camping onramps/offramps of a interstate highway in the US. Armed with RPGS, Tanks, etc. They run away when they see a Hummer, everything else gets blown up.
If your quick enough, you'll get onto the highway, and you wont have any problems, until you need to get off the highway.
