Edited by: Captain Campion on 03/08/2007 17:42:42 At the moment I use a BFG 7900GT OC @ 1280x1024 Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz + 4GB RAM
I want to upgrade my monitor, to 1680x1050 or 1950x1200, but I'm not sure what my card can handle.
Can you please post what card you have, and what res you run? If you have the same card then you're reply is even more valuable. Thanks in advance to those who reply.

I've got a bfg 6800gt and I run windowed at 1600/1200. I think the 7900gt will be able to handle pretty much anything EVE can throw at it.

I just googled on your card model and found:
# Dual 400MHz RAMDACs that support resolutions of 2048x1536@85Hz # Dual-link DVI capability to drive the industry's largest and highest resolution digital flat panel displays up to 2560x1600
So yeah, it should work fine.

most cards say on the specs what their max resolution is....EDIT: also, the 7900gt should be fine to handle alot of the higher resolutions. its really all about finding a monitor that can handle those high res's
oh and to answer your question...Dual BFG 7600GT OC SLi on 2 19 inch dell e196fp monitors at 1280x1024

The 7900GT isn't a bad card and will work well even at resolutions of 1680x1050. With that being said, I use an eVGA 8800GTX@1600x1200.
I have had 7900GTOC from BFG and the 7900GTKO from eVGA - both are good cards. Is EVE the only game you play? The reason for my choice is partly because I also play America's Army Operations and need the higher fps, with all the visual eye candy turned on of course.
You say you want to upgrade your monitor, how much are you looking to spend?

I can pretty much do all the resolutions np, but when i go for higher res on my 19" flatscreen, eve just seems donno lot of stuff is just to small, like the overvieuw, way to small...(the font)

I play CS:S too, but that's less demanding than eve anyway. I'd have to have a very good reason to spend more than ú450 on a 24" or more than ú250 on a 20", I've already looked into these for a while, but suggestions are welcome.

I Have BFG 8800GTX, I run eve at 1920 x 1200, and I use the following http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1010&page=specifications, I just like to point out that I have a pretty high end machine and EVE pretty much kills it, in terms of frame rate, any other game I run looks amazing at it's native res. I hope the new 3D engine makes some of this epic fleet battles shin rather than a slide show.

x850 XT PE, I run a dual monitor system with two 1650x1080 22" panels. EVE runs great maximized in one and I can even watch a movie on the other. You are much more CPU limited than graphics limited at the moment, this should change with graphics update.
I had an old CRT that did 1920x1200 and I was happy going to a 1650x1080 LCD. I sincerely doubt any players need more than 1650x1080.

I can run 2 accounts (one on each screen) at max resolution max settings without lag at all,
what Tao said, eve is very cpu intensive, make sure you have the MS hotfix patch for duelcores (this doesnt automaticly download mind you), if you have AMD dual core, make also sure you have their driver.
I tested this with supreme commander I got about 40-60% cpu boost on that game with the MS patch and AMD cpu driver (it makes sure the duel core gets used to it's fullest on most aplications)

Run 2 clients windowed in 1280x960 while my desktop is 1280x1024 (leaves the start menu visible). FSAA x 2 is on, as are options like sun occlusion, never any hiccup and 2 clients use 80% CPU max. I can have other applications like Firefox open at the same time without a problem.

My screen is small, but I play at maximum possible resolution anyways, because I want to make the various interface buttons as small as possible. More space to put windows if necessary, and more space within which I can see the space battles. ---

Dude, with your setup, you should be able to handle any resolution. Atm, I have a AMD 3400+ 64-bit, 1.5 gigs DDR, ATI X800GTO 256ram, and a 22" with 1680x1050 res. I can play EVE at that res with no fps loss at all from any smaller res. And I cannot recommend a 22" widescreen enough. They are truelly beautiful to look at, especially playing all the newer games with high resolution. Not to mention movie watching
Edit: I usualy run windowed mode while pvping and I can run 2 accounts pretty decently (If I am not in a huge fleet action that is). I can run 3 accounts at once as well but one client always seems to take a big fps hit while the others are fine.

Amen. It's sad that I can run BF2 in high res with all the goodies turned on and still get 30 or more fps but a 4 years old game gets choppy when you have 20+ or more in a fight
