Edited by: d''hofren on 04/08/2007 09:53:17 Many moons ago, back when cruisers were reworked and recons came out, minmatar were lumbered with target painting bonus's. At the time there was a general consensus that the things were sub par, (apart from that brief few weeks when they could make a mwd'ing inty appear as big as a moon). They are still the only race specific ewar unit that neither decreases incoming dps nor impacts outgoing dps unless partnered with torps.

They also increase your chance to hit with turrets and the like thereby increasing dps, just not as much as a tracking computer (without bonuses at least). The difference between target painters and tracking comps is that the painters assist your entire gang.
Guess you gotta partner up with some torp ravens

Signature radius, according to the guides is supposed to directly effect number of hits.
However in practice it is not the direct penalty to hit rate it should be. Infact outside of missles, on the test server at least, I've found at optimal sniping range signature radius seems to be irrelavent.
tracking/range->sig radius seem to be the order of importance for reducing your damage.

TP's are great for killing small things with big weapons, sadly almost everyone flies a battleship these days.
..oh and un-nerf t2 torps a little please.

Edited by: Rhaegor Stormborn on 04/08/2007 14:10:11 This has been said forever. I still agree. Target Painters need a major buff. I think they should add an additional affect of lowering resistances.

How about introducing a rig that increases the signature radias bonus of target painters like they have for sensor dampeners, ecm and tracking disruptors??

unless its a moros
Same result, just a lil more hassle
Anyways, I have never seen yet that someone would fit a TP on minmatar recon. Only maybe once when we fought same Moros I mentioned, but TP guy died real quick. ---

You know what I think would get a lot more people using target painters? Convert the Bellicose to a missile boat.
Just trade out one or two of its guns for launcher hardpoints and replace its gun RoF bonus with a missile one and presto, suddenly you've got a decent, affordable anti-interceptor boat that might actually be able to do some killing on its own for a change. |

I wonder what the dread is fitted with. Capitals can take a lot of punishment. As an example: In this vid a thana tanks 16 ships, 12 BS, for the whole duration of a 3h battle. Any capital with resistance oriented boni can do still better and dreads have eaven meaner tanks.
Also, if you can get into optimal of short range dread guns the resulting dps can be suprisingly high:) ___ P.S. Post with your main. Mind control and tin hats |

That would be fine if it had more powergrid. I do a standard fitting and the best I can get is 400mm plate on it. Nasty.

They are terribly underrated. Besides... have you checked the initials on all variants?

Would be nice if the T2 variant had a bit more effect than the best named.

Target painters are better than tracking computers as regards to tracking, TC have 30% and TP have 40% with max skills. They don't provide more range as the tradeoff, but benefit anybody shooting at the target.

No other EW t2 variant has more of an effect than the best named so I don't see why this should... it's not all that bad realy.

I too would like to see painters boosted in some way. How, I dont know, maybe a direct damage increase, say, 5%.
I wouldnt mind putting some more missle hardpoints to help the bellicose. Although the huginn and rapier dont exactly need a boost. ---------------------------------------- Friends Forever
