First and foremost, as BoB renters (pets), Bob has always been supportive and professional in all dealings with us. They gave us an opportunity to live in one of the richest constellations in EVE. Unfortunately, we were almost strictly mining/ratting based (carebears), and when 11 hostile alliances came around we could not sustain POS warfare. Control has been relinquished back to BoB as a joint decision by both alliances. BoB did not kick us out, in other words. We were given the option. We are in complete understanding that BoB has their hands full (case people havenÆt noticed).
About R97 - It has been perceived by others that SOCO gave up and pulled out of R97. This is true to an extent. SOCO had the system lead with 8 large to the enemies 5 large, till of course they killed one and put 3 in reinforced all in one sitting. Knowing that BoBÆs focus was elsewhere we discussed trimming some POS fuel ôfatö by unanchoring 3 large to ease the strain of POS warfare on our corp pocket. One of our members thought that meant ôdo it immediatelyö and ran right over and unanchored 3 large with hostiles watching. (IÆll let the hostiles brag about what happened next). However, this was not an attempt to just pull out of the area completely. It was an effort to save what little resources we had left, being as though we couldnÆt counter what hostiles were doing in R97.
About OOY - OOY was in good shape until tensions got high in our alliance. We were all set POS wise with 5 well-defended large and an operational cyno-jammer in a system with 7 moons (.....yes we know 200 hostiles can blow up deathstars without capitals, but thatÆs what it would have taken). Anyways, some misinformation was passed into an alliance mail about BoB ôkicking us outö, so naturally people to pack things up. Two of the three corps in our alliance left. One corp in our alliance was asked to leave thier POS up, but it was packed up as well. That made it 4-3 SOCO winning sov at that point. Then the straw that broke our backs occured (aside from 12,000 hostiles closing in). Someone in our corp, GRD, took all of the oxygen out of our cyno-jammer pos, thus offlining it for 4 hrs. till the rest of us got off work. This killed our soveriegnty advantage of having the cyno-jammer. It is still unknown as to who did it, so it is difficult to assign blame. This is when BoB was consulted and the decision was made to transfer system control to BoB.
Bottom line for us, we understand the load that BoB is under atm, and we have absolutely no hard feelings towards our landlords. Rent was reasonable ( 3 miners could make it in 3 days per month), rent was waived when overwhelming hostile forces invaded, and protection was present anytime BoB had the chance and was well-informed. We can only hope that when BoB plants a flag in the RA capital system, they might consider us as future tenants.
We had some good times down there, and none of us have any regrets. And to all those reds, congrats on absolutely crushing our 6 man corp in POS warfare. Nah seriously, well played, seems you can park a 180 man fleet anywhere at anytime.

You sure have a lot of excuses.
But seriously, BoB gives you the towers and fittings, and you can't even afford to fuel them? It doesn't sound like it was all the hostiles that did you in. signature removed - please email us to find out why (include a URL) - Jacques([email protected]) |

Should've added more I guess....we were not given any towers.....and the fuel preservation was in heed of bunkering down in OOYZ.

SOCO has the finest guys I've ever had the pleasure of playing with.
MUCH respect to them and all they did as a (very) small alliance.

I've been desperately looking for the quote you guys made a while back about "how great it is to rent space from BoB because of the protection they provide." Something about not being able to lose space? Well, good luck whatever you guys choose to do.

Edited by: Vort X on 12/08/2007 04:32:00 It's always nice to read a report which is not blaming the loss on the enemy's exploits, lag generator tactics and so on. No whining, not pointing fingers here. I wish all of the battle/loss reports would be like this. You took it like a man, you have my respect! GL in the future m8.

We fought as we could, i know i stayed up many nights being an est player, -5 i stayed up till downtime or almost before most nights under siege. the goons and the reds put up a hell of a fight with us. we only had so many people but we did what we good but we just got exhausted of funds and dont have the manpower that ra/goon the had. I am curious though why did ra pick r97, was it random or was there a plan? i fought my best and i think the people that were around did their best. grd took care of pos's and fuel, all 6 of them and quant fought with our few battleships as much as we could. i know i went through at least 1 of each tier gallente bs in the fight. had a nice long station siege and a few pos sieges but ra/goon always had a fleet come in just as we started. crafty people they were. they caught me by surprise and i did my best.
but as dr cball said the whole 6 man corp. i think alliance chat topped at 15 during the week so the usually 40:10 ratio was tough. we asked for help often but bobs hands were full with 66- so we had to deal with it. they sent in a station recovery fleet and shrike visited to do a clean up but most of the work done was just fixed by the time we were all set. I know i did feel a little stranded but i understand that people are busy and it was a very interesting run. corm sent us dread support to put a few towers into reinforced, but those pos's got fixed before they could be taken out. you got us, ouch.
good fight. i had a good time but now it is time for me to sleep a tad. --------------------------------- RWREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sounds perfect to me
I mean, look at it from a pure economical point of view. They rent the space and (accordingly to their post) mine 3 days to pay off the rent. The other 27 days are pure profit for them. Now, when it is going to be difficult or lets say, unprofitable, they just leave the area and wave goodbye having no hard feelings at all.
Sounds like a winning strategy - from the point of profit. Why to fight a war that isn't yours and that they cannot win in any case? I can completely understand them especially since I am also in a very small corp.
Also, what hope could they have in fighting a war on their own while all BoB with allies couldn't defend their systems in Omist?
I think they had a good time and now they are leaving, not risking huge losses or bad feelings. Well done.
