"Errrr, would someone care to explain to me what this is all about? "
... The referenced page pretends to be the login page of original eve-online website.

Someone has copied the login page from official EVE site. When you enter your username and password it records them, so these people can then use your account when they like.
It's theft. They are stealing your information using fraudulent methods. Jail time is involved when they are caught.

Do you mean that if we logged in on the official EVE-online forums they know our stuff ?
Or is it just if some blokes logged in on another site ?

only problem with reporting it is, is alot of European countries don't care about internet laws, or situations like this. Good try though.

Then it's time to call H4cK3rMaN, enforcing the law in countries that doesn't have it yet!

Where did you get that link anyhow? Never seen it before. Someone sent an email to you or someone else in your corp?
It's clearly seen it's not the official site, granted, it looks a bit similar. Still...who would be caught in that trap
Still I think this is totally wrong, those people should be caught and punished

So what eve related fan site have you registered with?
i.e. they A. Know you play EVE, and B. Have your email details to be able to mail you in the firs place. Compare site list with others who have received the email. Cross reference and hey presto you know which site is being used as a front to target Eve players.

Right then!
We've alerted the developers about this site already and contacted the domain owner.
If you have entered your user name and password there, please go to the account management and change your password as soon as possible. That will prevent unauthorized access to your account.
If you have information about who was distributing this url, or you have a good reason to believe that your account has been accessed by someone else after you entered your user name and password there, we would like you to file a petition and let us know about it.
We won't let anyone get away with stealing your accounts!

Is that why the site is now blowing Opera into the void unless it pretends to be IE? |

Can we have a sticky thread pointing out the general point: that no EVE dev, GM or Polaris dude will ever ask for your login name or password, and that you shouldn't have to enter them for ANY domain except www.eve-online.com
It won't help all of the stupid people, but it might save a few.

What about this site?
http://myeve.eveonline.com
Note the missine hyphen in "eveonline". When I mistyped and accidentally went to that site a username and password box appears. Awhile back I entered my info not noticing the missing hyphen at first glance and assumed CCP had redesigned the website.
This was awhile ago and near as I can tell no one has used my account but then I do not have all that much worth stealing. Still...curious what that site is about given its near exact match to this site's address (for all I know it is the Dev Only site or something).

The question that needs to be asked here is how they knew the member's e-mail address, and how they knew he was a member of RUS. This clearly shows that someone in the customer service organization, be it a GM or corrupt Polaris player, pulled up the account information and made use of it to this end, or provided it to a third party. Just goes to show you that the customer service people in this game need to be replaced with people who do not play the game and not have an interest in its happenings. --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. I agree with part of what you said here, about GM's and Customer Service employees not having a vested interest in the game they're monitoring.
But I don't believe anyone on the 'inside' is behind this particular scam... its too lame and detectable for that.
