i love vista. i have absolutely zero issues with it now.. but i hate that stupid side bar. it got really old after about a month. consumes resources and graphically interferes with a lot of my games. (it flickers in the background)
and sometimes, when playing bf2142 it will actually switch me out to the desktop when i click at the right time (in-game) in the area where the sidebar is.
truly annoying when you find out how resource intensive bf2142 is. takes about 1.5-2 min to get back in game.
Please stop messing with my signature!!! |

Try changing your sifebar settings to work in the background: I think its 'always on top' by default. that should fix most of your issues. ----------------------------------------------- "Yes... I sleep with my myrmidon. It's nothing to be ashamed of!" |

I used vista for 8 months from beta to RTM and it is very stable, can run for weeks on end without getting grumpy, alas driver support for it is kinda pish, hence me having to use XP.

To be perfectly honest, vista bashing is perfectly new.
I remember the dos/windows 3.1 users hating Windowns 95
I remember the Win95 users hating Win 98
I remember NT guys hating... well, actually loving win 2k, however thats another story though!
I remember Win 98 Users hating Win XP
And now the Win XP generation hates vista. Pretty much all groups of haters stated the same things - Performace, drivers etc etc. If these arguments were as valid as people make out, we would all be on MS-DOS 6.22
Of course, the reality is that whenever a new OS out, most people wait till Service pack 2 before getting it...

I went the Windows 95 - Windows ME - Windows XP route myself. I know the pain of bad Windows . My ME machine had to be rebooted after about 6 hours of being up and running, or really weird crap would start happening.

Edited by: Grez on 15/08/2007 23:54:14 Vista's not so bad. Those people who keep bashing it generally either haven't actually used it and are just going on hearsay - or they have a rubbish system, pay no attention to the minimum specs or realistic specs, and just install it anyway, only to find it runs less than on-par with all the knobs turned on/up.
I have two machines with it on, one boots into Ubuntu, XP, and Vista, and to be honest, all have their pro's and cons. At the end of the day though, if I can, I'll always boot into Vista - because if you have a machine that can make use of it, it runs faster than you realise.
Lovely app, OP. Thanks for the post. ---

The operating system itself seems to have an excellent start with stability functionality and in some aspects performance...I will give Micro******* that in a general sense as task manager will instantly reveal the fact that my IT carear is going to hit overdrive in the comming years.
However, some of you Vista lovers need an education.
You can start off with some light reading! _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. You have'll have to find some alternative means to do Your Thing, dude. |

there are ways around all the reported draw backs of vista. and i love how most of those complaining about it dont have it, and in most cases have never used it. get a clue people, and stop spouting opinions with no facts to back them up.

I just installed this gizmo and it works pretty well :) definitely has its uses.
Please note that this is a subtle reminder to get back on topic which is about the sidebar module and Not about Vista and its obvious issues (it was enough to make me cry when i found out my new laptop was stuck with it) ___
