This is not a gleeful new dad story but a sappy sweet happy ending story. While the details of the story are sordid, to some extent, the point is not hard to express. After missing for almost 19 years my daughter, who will be 20 in a few months, was recently found. What A Cutie!!!Eat Your Heart Out, The Kiss Is For Me!!!!Ask For Her Number & This May Be The Person You See Holding A Shotgun. Two of my brothers with their sons.Me with my dad.My Mom sitting next to my missus. As to myself, people have always asked me about being a cross dressing toon. I've always jokingly told people that my daughter picked my toon. That was, and is, the truth but also an evasion. The loss of my daughter(s) has always overshadowed my life. It has always been something that nagged at me on a daily basis and, sometimes, can be the reason I've seemingly been grumpy short tempered. Instead of avoiding remembering such troubling things I intentionally force such things to be a constant reminder. (I.e. My pin number is the date of my other daughter's passing.) Some days you deal with your demons better than others. In this case, I can settle one demon that plagues me by finally being able to love her directly. The better news is not just that she has been looking for me as well (She only in the past few years learned my name) but she's eager to meet me. My immediate family, I'm the oldest of 6 kids, has swamped this young lady with phone calls and love. The fact that she was only 2 hours, by car, from my parents new home only added to the joy. She was born while I was a way serving in the military. To a (troubled) young lady who I had dated for a few months. My parents were active in Yaz's life in lieu of my ability to come home until her mother abducted her from the foster care that Yaz was in. She was later abandoned by her mother and was raised by a distant branch of her mother's family. Till now, as she puts it, she was the blacksheep odd person out as she looks little like the rest of her family. Furthermore she also had no idea of the circumstances so she also lived thinking that she was unwanted (by me) or a burden (to those who raised her). Now she knows that she actually has a family that has missed her, sought her out (My mom found her finally!!), and that she's very much, in mannerisms and looks, like me and my side of the family. Last night she got to meet her grandparents for the second time in her life. And she talked to me for 5 hours afterwards wired from the experience (In two days we have talked a running total of 19 hours!). Circumstances do not permit me to go immediately running to her but I pushed her to go meet my parents. How do I explain the need to have someone actually lay eyes on her, someone to tell me she exists and the she is okay? I know... I never have laid eyes on her. But I will.

Kinda understand how you must feel as my Dad lost his daughter/my sister for 19 years because of him and his gf at the time splitting up. She has recently come back into our lives and its a wonderful feeling.

You might want to notify the people at the foster home, as well. They probably still feel (guilty||worried) about the circumstances of her departure, and would love to hear the good news.
Again, congrats!

Sadly, she isn't. Yet. As a dad I find it is my prerogative, nay, imperative to impress my quirks upon her. Of course I'm quite dismayed that I didn't have many wonderful opportunities to create embarrassing memories. For instance: Getting caught in the middle of the night walking in my boxers... during a sleep over party or something. Ah... the missed opportunities to have given her have some very unique and personal neurosis with my name on them. I've got a lot of work ahead of me if I'm to catch up on that.

I can't imagine what it must have been like for you knowing she was out there somewhere and not having access.
I'd just want to die if I lost my baby boy; you're a better man than I for going through that for 19 years and I'm just so glad the other end of this in sight for you!

that is incredible! she's the right age for college and that kind of thing. you can do your fatherly duty of screening her dates and circling the block in the car whenever she goes on a date.

Being a father myself, the hardest part about your story, is having missed all those amazing achievements she has made throughout her life. It is a shame but now is the time to push forward and make up for the time you two have lost.

I've just finished spending the past 5 and a half hours on the phone with her. She doesn't want to get off the phone even though she is dead tired. The last two of those hours has been mostly me listening to her sleep with the occasional wake up, "Dad?"
"Yes, honey. I'm here."
