And in the end, it doesn't even contribute to that. I mean really, what point is there to likes other than maybe competing to see who can get the most. Then a bunch more threads turn into threadzillas, the lag builds, and something breaks.
The other option is, no one really cares, and the feature goes ignored, or simply becomes an annoyance.
C'mon CCP. We are EVE players. We have been raised for almost a decade on killboards. Do you really think social status means much to us? Do you really thing the guy at the gatecamp cares how many LIKES he gets? |

Ok I'll post it here as well, maybe one time someone notices...
Here is the dev blog
http://www.eveonline.com....asp?a=blog&bid=867
Here is the quote from it
Quote:The new forums are located at https://forums.eveonline.com and they are now fully integrated into EVE Gate. They will replace the old forum that was on eveonline.com, including the same functionality you previously enjoyed, along with cool new features such as: The ability to Like posts and see number of Likes per post The ability to add threads to a favorites list Simple and advanced searching options RSS feeds for threads and search criteria
So it's supposed to be PER POST likes, which is actually pretty good idea IMHO!!!
Can someone tell this to devs? apparently they don't have a slightest idea what were they intending to do... It's not even mentioned in the known issues. |

PERSONALLY I'd like to see advancement in INCARNA and game development rather than man-hours being put into adding useless features to the forums. These forums should be a basic necessary for communication outside of the Eve Universe, nothing more and nothing OVERLY and UNNECESSARILY fancy. |

Agree that "Likes received" under our avatars is pointless.
However, for threads I would like to see for each post buttons for Agree, Disagree, Off-topic, Funny, Obsolete Information, Troll, Learn2Read, Wrong, SuperWrong, and WTFAreYouSmokingWrong as a means to facilitate discussion and as a means to help separate the wheat from the chaff without having to resort to brief "+1 agree" posts. This would be very useful on the Missions and Ships and Modules forums at a minimum.
Being able to search for keywords for posts with a certain number of Agrees would also be spiffy.
BattleClinic's ranking of ship fittings would be an example of how like/dislike could help with managing data/post/information quality.
Obviously, there's some wiggle room as to what buttons would be acceptable. |

If they want to put in a serious like/dislike system then each person should only be able to vote about each other person one time only. |
