Just because people do everything for killboard Epeen growth now. I rarely kill players unless I'm going to gain ISK from it, or I'm seriously bored, but these days you get little 10 man corps gatecamping gates, wasting about 20 million isk per kill, and getting jack **** in return.
Why do they stare at a gate all day with it bubbled?
Killboard.
Just silly.

Bubbles and ammo, and usually the victim will pop a lighter ship or two if he knows what he's doing.

In general, people use them to keep a tally of how a war's going or as a record of what's happened.
I can see your point, in some instances it's silly - but for a large corp at war a killboard is invaluable.

It has values, but it's turned EVE into a sort of worldwide frags competition.

Not for me, but I'm in a corp very different to Lamas
I don't even post on the KB at all. It's like an internal e***** scoreboard.

The fact that they're such a useful tool for identifying enemy ships by their past losses makes use of a public (and therefore, boastable) killboard null for an alliance/corp.
