btw no pain or blood at all, doesnt even hurt now after like 4 hours. going to wait a couple weeks for this to heal and then do it with a 16 gauge hollow needle (piercing needle)
Theres a true rebel . Everyone advises against doing a personal job and he stabs himself. I salute you.
Doing things yourself often leads to them being done crooked or just placed wrong. This is why we have other people cut our hair, examine our wounds, and pierce our bodies. There is no reasonable excuse for you to self pierce. Its all an attention grab, the whole "yeah, I did all this myself" to make you sound tough with the ladies. Make sure to tell them you did it with an unsterilized cloths pin and used an unsterilized piece of jewelry.
Lockjaw ftw.
lol i boiled the ring and the needle and then put them in a bowl of alcohol before i did anything, and i put it right in the center of my lip, no blood no pain AT ALL ___________________________________________

How long did you boil the equipment and what concentration was the alcohol? It takes 30 minutes of constant boiling of water to kill all the micro-organisms, and nothing short of 95% - 100% rubbing alcohol will completely sterilize things. As well, did you wear the proper gloves to prevent contamination during this procedure?

Self piercing is something widespread when you get more involved in this 'hobby'. There's nothing really complicated, you just have to know what you do and to be meticulous. Don't drink and smoke a few days before, disinfect the aera, and pierce with sterilized single-use cannula/cathether/serynge. And you are made. I've seen people self-piercing their nose (not the nostril, the cartilage) without problem.
To be really honest I must say that there's lots of vessels and nerves people may not be aware of. I decline personal responsability if you got half your face paralyzed or you empty yourself from blood.

No, the higher the concentration the alcohol, the faster it will react. What the problem is with high concentrations of alcohol is that they evaporate really quickly, if he left his sterilization dish open to the air for an hour or so with 90% - 100% alcohol, it would be dye as a bone.

FYI: the tongue contains an artery
About 1 inch in from the tip and centerline. You will miss it. But that was almost 10 years ago. _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. You have'll have to find some alternative means to do Your Thing, dude. |

As a correction to what I said previously, the microbe kill rate is slower on higher concentrations but it will kill more of the microbes. My sources are of course, wikipedia.

Ok I checked the gauge thingy (mtric system user here). o_O Well I don't know, here you can buy syringes, don't know about the size though. One solution is veterinary material (seen that allready).

Well hell, you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to use a safety pin, preferably rusty and removed from your pants. You're supposed to be drunk and rinse your mouth out with whiskey, and only pierce when your hands are greasy from working at the drive-thru oil change all day.
Total self-piercing etiquette faux pas.

yeah man way to go. I'll talk to you again when your FACE is gangrenous.
After you pierce your lip you need something inserted there for the wound to heal AROUND, so next time use the bigger needle you have, and just JAM that piercing in baby. You should be fine. Remember to douse the wound in mucho antiseptics like betadine, medical alcohol, or jack daniels.
Also, dont skint in your piercing: in FACT. You can get titanium or even tungsten piercings. Now I KNOW you fire tungsten slugs in EVE, imagine having a Tungsten piercing. very risque.
Seriously though people, check out the tungsten stuff it's cool, and is scratchproof and oxidizationproof. ----------------------------------------------- "post with your main. delete your alt, you sad little exploiting metagamer."

Originally by: Mikala Mara I just read in the paper a few days ago that 30-40% of all those getting a tongue or lip piercing develop problems with their teeth. The gums retract slightly, exposing more of the teeth, which can then cause all kinds of problems, so keep that in mind as well
trufax.
i had a labrette in, and i got my piercer to mount it as low as possible, unfortunately because of the angle the back of the jewellery rubbed on my gums and actually wore down the gum on one of my bottom teeth. i took the thing out as soon as i noticed and now, a few years later, it's still not ******* grown back :|

Piercings and tattoos are marks of the weakwilled trying to fit in with their respective hip crowds. In past times these were markings of barbaric cultures or slaves.

No, seriously
People always consider how cool these piercings are and such, but please consider this. Reading your post and the precautions you took (hell, even the fact you asked for advice) shows you're not an average joe and that you at least have some sense.
I also considered piercings, tattoos and whatever during college, and boy am I glad I didn't take them. First of all, if you say that they don't cause physical harm or annoyances, I think you're being silly. Second, I meant what I say. Try to get a serious highlevel job with those things in your head and it's a guaranteed fast way home. Third, perhaps this is the best argument... it seriously limits the sort of chicks you can dig Wouldn't want the weird metal enhanced girls in my vicinity...
I always heard people brag they didn't want to be like everyone else, that they don't want to get a certain "label" and it's usually these people that get tattoos and such to be some sort of different... Well, consider you're attaining exactly the opposite of what you'd like. If you really want to be special, do it by the way you act and act smarter then the rest, make a good living and use society, not react on it.
That being said, I have little kids. If they grow up and they want one... I'm not going to react, but give them the same advise, on condition they're above a certain age. Their body and their life... but at one point or another they'll understand dad cared, just like my mom did.
I'm getting all emo, but make your behaviour speak for yoursef, not a piece of metal in your face.
EDIT: Why do you need a piercing per se if you're spending your evenings alone before the pc with an avatar not resembling yourself

Sweet, he can get a job at a glorified Taco Bell!
When I started my job at HP I worked in lifetest testing printers (a trained monkey can do this job). I was surrounded by guys that had full sleeves and the huge earrings and what ever else. Hell one guy reminded me of a zulu warrior. All these guys had already worked here longer than me. 5 years later I've moved up the ranks quickly and am now a R&D tech and those other guys, a few are still in lifetest. I know the zulu warrior works at a tattoo shop (which is about the best job they can get at this point), I found another one working at a gas station, and a few others throwing freight at wal-mart. Of course getting a promotion is based on way more than tattooes and piercings but it's like they always say, the first impression is always the most important.
On a side note, tattoo artist can make alot of money. I haven't talked to mine in years now but when I was getting my stuff done, I remember they always had a full book and the waiting period was always about a month. And my shoulder alone with just black ink has costed about $450 so far. Piercings generally aren't that bad priced depending on location although it's horifying to watch them pierce a customers tongue (I've seen torture techniques that were kinder).

Speaking of sticking metals things in your body, I personally would never get a piercing. I'm scared of needles and stuff.
But given the chance, I'd volunteer to become a cyborg (preferably with a wireless card) without hesitating!
