Dude looked like he got into a massive fight with 2 black eyes for a week. I used to go to punk shows and at one we were in the mosh pit and I'm not sure what happened but apparrantly some one got into a fight with a friend of mine and before anyone coud break it up my friend grabbed this dudes lip piercing and ripped it right out. It all depends on age and the social circle you're in. I'm guessing like myself you and your friends are considered pretty 'alternative' right? Where piercings and tattoos arnt a big deal. Just make sure you go to a piercer mate, it's sooooooo much safer. And i'd say the lip hurts too much to do yourself really.
