I was just reading this other thread and didnt want to go too much off topic. This guy kinda is right, we should have another line of caldari and amarr pirate ship so i started thinking what this game needs and came up with this:
Black Gurista Frigate
Special Ability: 125% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
Caldari Frigate Skill Bonus: 20% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal and falloff range per level Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to Small Energy Turret optimal range per level
3 low 3 mid 4 high 4 turret harpoints
---
Black Gurista Cruiser
Special Ability: 125% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: 20% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal and falloff range per level Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret optimal range per level
6 low 4 mid 6 high 6 turret hardpoints
---
Black Gurista Battleship
Special Ability: 125% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
Caldari Battleship Skill Bonus: 20% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal and falloff range per level Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to Large Energy Turret optimal range per level
7 low 5 mid 8 high 8 turret hardpoints
Guristas uses ECM but there is no pirate ECM ship out there, this one would add that while still not being overpowered.
It adds armor tanked ECM to the game, for a expensive ship it does this with a nice buffer tank which makes it useful in fleet fights.
It uses turrets and it has a range bonus which makes it able to dictate range like any ECM ship usually wants.
Its ECM strength is between that of a scorp and a caldari recon but with many lows to have signal distortion amps in if you want to sacrifice some tank.
With no damage bonus (but a nice amount of turret slots) it can bring a bit of dps while still not being totally overpowered.
So would you fly this? Is it overpowered in your eyes? (more then just ECM hate) |

Sansha are Amarr/Caldari. Guristas are Gallente/Caldari, and they are shield tanking / drone+missile boats (and elite Guristas are called Dread Guristas, not black Guristas).

Would rather rouge drone or Eom or The seven fro a amarr/gallente pie faction Would rather mercenaries or new faction or change angels to caldari/minnie (at the time or the angle cartels formation the calldari and gallente were one big federation any way so redoing it to caldari wouldn't be as strange as it sounds. buy alacounts they may very well have funded them to put presh on the gallente so they could separate from them ect ect)
not just more caldari amarr ships |

No I wouldnt want to see any of the current faction ships redesigned into a ewar ship but i can see a possibility for a faction damp ship too (wouldnt be very popular tho) |

T1 is all-around T2 is roll specific Navy(T1.3)is boosted combat/all-around Pirate(T1.6) is style based(fast or passive or max damage or no escape)
A line of 2 ECM bonus ships is kinda more T2 than pie. Now an ECM bonus and other stuff that fits a style would be different. |

Have you taken a look at the current pirate ships? They are all made in a line of similar ships and have special roles just like mine to fill. cruor, ahimmu, bhaalgorn - neut, webs, some laser dps worm, gila, rattlesnake - drones, missiles, tank succubus, phantasm, nightmare - high damage + tracking lasers, spare highs daredevil, vigilant, vindicator - 90% webs, high dps dramiel, cynabal, machariel - speed, falloff range
So my line of ships would be like the Blood Raider ships but with ecm and range |

Neut+web is "no escape", the web bonus is wasted buy the neut one after time in a fight. Its redundant and 2 different Ewar from 2 Different races. That would be like yours being "crippling" and having both ECM and turret disruptors. So one ECM fails they still take a penalty to hit. |

Blood Raiders- no escape Gurista-pasive Sansha's/Serpentis-max damage Angels-speed
They all match the feel of the faction they belong to.
So mine would be damage evasion, small sig + range + ecm, those rats would be annoying as hell to fight ^^ |

Aside from the fact that ECM and an armour tank is just better ECM( your-ECM+ECM+RANGE Vs. T1 caldari hulls-ECM+ECMorRANGE). Your Pairing a Multiplyer like Ewar with no drawback at all. Just not T2 level bounes to tank and ECM but tons of mids and lows. Your simply removing the weakness of caldari ECM boats. Also most pie ships have a redundcy/overlap/underutilized bonus. All of your bonuses are good the whole fight and the ship takes full advantage of them all at once. |

It should be lacking in both PG and capacitor, should be really hard to make them cap stable with a AB and impossible to active tank.
The cruiser will be able to fit 2-3 ECM when its got a prop mod and chooses between cap booster or not. The BS will have 3-4, which will be about same as a shield scorp.
The low PG stops it from fitting big guns, multiple plates, mwd and cap booster. It should be tight so you have a lot of options here but you cant get it all. |

A fun, and pretty hot topic.
There's two sides to the argument, on one side the lack of armor-tanked options for players with predominant Caldari skillsets (no Caldari or Amarr BS with either enough slots for sufficient tank or Missile bonuses; Scorpion offering the tiebreaking example, and likely the base of Saldana's suggestion).
On the other hand you have the question of wether we need "more ECM", which is better exemplified wether we need ECM at that level of gameplay. The pirate-faction BS, as mentioned, cost a great deal and usually only see the light of day in very specific situations and a certain level of high-resource, well-composed, medium-scale gameplay. In that small frame the other pirate faction BS already have exceptionally strong EW and conceptual roles (Bhaalgorns, Vindicators - to some extent Machariels). Something as powerful as suggested could shake things up there, and is at least worth discussing (even if there's grounds to be sceptical as well). |

I completely agree with you but there is one difference between what already exists and this, these ship are actually useful in fleets of all sizes. There is a reason why ecm and not neuts are used in bigger fleets for example. I think this adds a really interesting way for people who want to use ecm in armor fleets and have spare isk to have fun. |

Hurp.
I agree that the pirate factions should be balanced out. However, currently, the main weakness of ECM is that most ECM ships have no extremely minimal fighting or tanking abilities. Introducing a line of ships which has the best ECM strength in the game on top of having actual fighting abilities screams OP, unless they give it 1 low slot or something. |

They are actually below the caldari recons in ECM strength, only by using 3-4 of your lows for signal distortion amps would give you more then them. |

Oh, nvm, I read that 125% ECM strength bonus as a +125% ECM strength bonus, which gives it entirely different meaning... |

It is a 125% increase but the caldari recons get 30% per level which ends up being 150% at level 5. The Scorpion have a 20% per level with a max of 100%, i thought it was fitting to have these ones in between. |

I should actually look at ECM ship bonuses some time.
So it IS a +125% bonus... Okay...
Hmm. Looking back at the OP, it doesn't actually seem too bad with the slot layouts you gave. They avoid stepping on the toes of the specialized caldari ecm ships (Rooks/Falcons/Scorpions) but actually combine a minor jamming ability with a bit of punch. It's not as bad as the Angel lineup of ships, which does ******* everything better than their Minnie counterparts. >_>
This would mean creating a whole new pirate faction, though.
I've kinda always wanted to see EoM ships introduced to players as armor-tanked missile spammers. Amarr skill increases armor resists, Caldari skill increases missile damage, special ability increases missile range. Meh.
I think everyone agrees that there should be another pirate faction added for ~balance~, though. |

I can see it fitting something like this with pretty much no cpu/pg over
[Black Gurista Battleship] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor Explosive Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Signal Distortion Amplifier II Signal Distortion Amplifier II
ECM - White Noise Generator II ECM - White Noise Generator II ECM - Phase Inverter II Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L
Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Trimark Armor Pump I Large Energy Discharge Elutriation II
So if you want more range you can fit dual heavy beam lasers or use some PG rigs/mods to fit bigger. Also this cap wont last very long, standard crystals to save cap can be quite common. |
