Thanks for the response, Casqade, now please humour us and appreciate that sometimes the forums aren't the first place we go, as the poster above has quite rightly noted, this HAS been bug reported, it IS reproduceable in 100% of cases, it has been around for more than one patch now, ergo my question is...
Why hasn't it been fixed yet?
Well so much for the "donations - free stuff" container. And here I thought I would clean up corp hangers a bit...

Originally by: Akita T Oh, by the way, I don't even see mentioned the fact that each and every container has to be INDIVIDUALLY configured by each one putting stuff into it. If I configure a certain container as "default unlocked" without a password, everybody else must first get the config password AND set the container to "default unlocked", or else they auto-add all items locked.
Annoying too.
This also need to be addressed. I think that container settings are kept localy, because everytime clear my cache, the lose their settings. Very stupid IMHO.
Fix the cans and the roles. ASAP! I don't need more T2 shi(p/t)s, I want the many, many issues fixed.

Still wondering why these STATION cans require anchoring skills when you cant place them in space because there are too large to fit in a ships cargohold and therefore I still wonders why they ar listed under Ship Equipment / Deployable Equipment. Why does it not have its own "group" on the marked like "Drones" and "Ships". It could be called "Cargo Containers" and be in the root of the market directory. |

This appears to be working on our internal servers now (thanks Code Monkey!) - Hangar View and Hangar Take but NOT Container Take allows characters to open containers and remove items from them, but does not allow them to remove containers themselves, for which Container Take is required. A change of this nature will of course need further testing before we're totally happy with it, but things are looking good right now.

Could you also take a look on how items are added inside containers please ? And on how the logs show inputs/outputs (if at all) ? For instance, one complete example of SOMEWHAT weird and/or counter-intuitive behaviour (in this particular set of circumstances anyway).
I'm the CEO. I buy a station vault, assemble it, give it a name. I set a config password, tell it to nobody. I don't set an access password. I configure the container to: Items are by default : UNLOCKED Require passord for : locking items only (or locking/unlocking, whatever). I put the container in the CorpHangar
Now, I would expect now that ALL people that add items inside to add them UNLOCKED, right ? Well, right now, wrong. *I* add items unlocked, directors do too... but the regular corp members add them locked. Also, the only logs I see are "lock/unlock" logs, and the display order is mangled a bit when navigating through it with the more/previous arrow buttons.
From regular corp members, set of "lock" only (on default unlocked container). From directors set of "lock" followed by set of "unlock" for the added items (so, it MUST be using the void "access" password to unlock them, or directors get automagical unlock rights). For things added by me, no logs at all.
And of course, no other types of logs (like "added" or "removed"). Which would kind of be the point for a SECURE AUDIT LOG container. Or at least, you'd think that, wouldn't you ? _

While we are at the topic of station containers .. any chance to allow manufacturing/researching of BPO's inside containers ?
I would love to keep my bpo collection sortet in containers, but always need to take them out to manufacture/research, which makes it kinda hard to secure.

I had this issue, the configuration of containers is personal (other than password and what to ask the password for), the logging is crap. There are just no ways of having security logs while many people have rights on the hangars and even less when anyone who can pick items in a container can take the container (but this seems to be about to be fixed).
We would need some hangar security discussions with the game designers or the devs, actually, it is not security, it's closed locked or totally opened. And you can't either have logs of what goes in and out a hangar which would make much easier to see if (for example) the minerals stocks increases, decreases, how much is used per week and how much is mined/bought (added to hangar) per week...

I have also been annoyed lately with the lock/unlock bug. I set a can to be unlocked by default, and the next day after DT, it is back to being LOCKED by default. This used to work and I used to keep all of our cans set to unlocked by default so people could add things and not end up with a bunch of locked stacks that someone else must unlock.
I bug reported this and they said they can't reproduce it.

This isn't really what I thought "Container Take" was for at all.
IMHO it should be something like this:
Hangar View + Container Take = Take stuff from containers but not from hangar. Hangar View + Hangar Take = Take anything, even containers.
Making "Container Take" effectively mean "Can Take From Containers".
The logic behind this would be that a CEO can have several container in a general "Fittings" hangar containing several warehouses, each with it's own password. One for T2, one for capital, one for basic fittings, etc..
Maybe adding "Can Take From Containers" as a new role would be an option ? -- EVE Tools for cell phones and Windows/linux/Mac systems http://evemsp.sourceforge.net/ |

Well, either way, this needs "looking at" fast.
For starters, you need a log of things going into and out of the containers, not (just) a log of locking/unlocking items. Second, you need to make container configuration global, not on a "per user" basis. Finally, the "take container" role (depending on wether you plan to enable a "container lockdown" ability like with blueprints) could mean either take from or take the container.
Either way, people SHOULD be able to take things out of the container (but not the container itself) if the proper rights are set and container is configured properly... but their "taking" of stuff from the container should be LOGGED, so that you can check who took what out. If you want to restrict access to containers even more, that's what the passwords are there for... provided nobody "leaks" them.
The sad part is, all of this is IMPOSSIBLE with the current system. Anything else and secure containers are just one big useless thing to have, and you might just as well use general freight containers instead for organizing, it wouldn't make a HUGE difference. _
