I was there for the initial POS fighting, was heading home when IAC undocked, I started to head back and got popped by a well placed gate camp, looked like both sides warped in at the same time.
Got popped all the way back to feythabolis and had to jump clone back to IAC space in JZV... -A- got my shuttle and pod on the way back too, helped me on my trip back to querious to refit. Thanks guys!
was lots of fun =] can't wait till the next one.

IAC had the advantage of being able to undock in fresh combat ships, while we had to brave the 25S gatecamp to reinforce. But the telling advantage on IAC's side was definitely its capital ships; with ours effectively locked away in Querious (it's 3 cyno-jumps from Querious to Catch), their ability to project capital force onto the battlefield won the day.
Wouldn't have traded that fight for the world. Just wish we could have jumped in 5 moms and 30 carriers and decisively won it, rather than score a (possible!) "meh" victory based on isk-loss ratios and more than undermined by looting rights gained by IAC holding the field at the end. But that's more out of a desire to win every fight than a desire for good fights, per se.

Yeah that 3 jump trip is a real PITA, and it's even worse for motherships and titans, during part of the fight I was looking at hostiles loading grid 400 km away and going "OK GUYS WE'RE PROBABLY ABOUT TO GET DOOMSDAYED, GET READY TO BAIL"
But it never happened

Originally by: Chirinako Seriously killboard ratios don't matter. This is a very rare occasion. An occasion where a multitude of alliances took part, killed ALOT of ships and left with a smile on their faces (both sides). Think about it. What usually happens is one superblob smacking a smaller oppononet around...or TWO superblobs which just crash the server. These were two relatively large blobs that were able to fight well enough despite the lag (which was pretty bad at times but not unworkable).
Considering that some BOB members are saying that this has been their favourite fight of the war I'd say that's pretty significant. Bob rely heavilly on their capital fleet and they didn't use it in this fight. There were something like 3 carriers and a mom involved and massive conventional fleets. Maybe that's a sign: Non capital fights are more fun. Capital fights normally = massive blobski of like 500 ships total to protect them.
More of these fights should happen. If this happened regularly, I wouldn't give a crap about territory. This type of fight is why I play Eve. It's why I signed up in the first place, and why I joined a 0.0 alliance. As far as I'm concerned according to last night's fight, IAAACVA are my targets, not my enemies. Big difference. They're only my enemies if they're trying to take my stations
Quite simply, I don't care about K/D ratio here. Nobody really took unbelievably hard losses, the fight lasted quite a while, and the vast majority of people involved had alot of fun. Imho that's what Eve is about. It's a game, everyone involved last night remembered that. Nowadays in Eve, that's rare. It's all about chestbeating and who's better than who.
Thankyou IAC, CVA, and AAA for bringing that constantly. And thanks to all our allies that showed up to make that an awesome encounter.
Eve is for fun. Not for chestbeating and trolling.
Well said!
Was a little miffed myself, I arrived and the fight was already 2+ hours into the swing of things. I came in my fastest ship available, a Taranis, took about 5 minutes to load grid, looked around and thought to myself 'wtf? This is the grid load warp in point??' Targets everywhere! Spent many minutes trying to lock and chase hostile support, thinking to myself 'at least they are as lagged as I am'.
Finally managed to lock my first target, WoOT! Deimos... I'm after that sucker. He locks me back.. I figure it's auto-targeting me. I go boom. 5 guys on my killmail that my overview never showed as being near me.

3 jumps? If only I was that lucky, with calibration 4 it takes a MS 6! jumps to get from 49- to FAT. 25 days till calibration 5 which will lower it to 3, but those 3 wouldnt be the 'usual' carrier jump points.
A titan with calibration 4 will take 11 jumps and a titan with calibration 5 will take 7 jumps to get from 49- to fat.
Sometimes I wish I was back in my Thanatos, so much easier to jump it somewhere.

IAC said two carriers went down.
So on bob KB where did the third carrier and the dreadnaught come from? If you guys lost them post the epic fight they were in :)

I just checked BoB kb, they have 1 carrier kill per day, no dread kills on either day, so what are you smoking ?

One nid was lost, the other caps appeared downed because the pilots lost ships and reshipped into caps so they appeared in the caps in the overview yet are recorded as losing a ship.
