I mustr say this is absolutely ridiculous. CCP just wants to throw us some timesinks our way as you need to train 4-5 different skills to manufacture, research or copy the BP. While I can appreciate the idea of specialization, the real problem lies in the unrealistic approach to tech 2 manufacturing. Tech 1 can be manufactured with only minerals...now we need to use tons of materials for tech2...frankly, how can you explain the needs for 30-40 thrusters or fusion reactors on ONE frigate. Wouldn't it be like putting 30 engines on a car? I can only imagine what insane requirements a Cruiser or BS will take and I don't even want to know what kind of insanities Tech 3 will bring about...

Perhaps the ion thrusters are small and weak, but many of them combine for a strong output? Also, 30-40 thrusters are quite easy to acquire - just one or two of the right missions (for example, I just got 47 fusion thrusters as an agent bonus ), and you're set. Correspondingly, they're quite cheap too.

spaceships dont use just one main engine .. they use many smaller thrusters all over the outside of the ship - they have to or they just wont turn properly . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Has anyone tried to warp to someone using the scanners with these ships?
If they can, i'll buy 15 Interceptors now.

Edited by: Elithiomel on 11/02/2004 08:14:20 I'd love to know how CCP work out the base price of the Ares at 309,554isk (eve-db) Using the base prices from eve-db for all the components the cost for the Ares comes out at 2,290,958 isk.

You know, based on the construction components needed i'm beginning to wonder if this is a bug. They got some temp to add the numbers in and they put everythign up by a factor of 10 perhaps?
Would be nice to get that asked in the CSM....

Maybe you're putting enitrely too much faith in eve-db and CCP's "base price" value as a pseudo-normative?

I think those base prices are also there to calculate mission rewards.
A high lvl3 agent might give the ship as a reward then... its` base price is not very high.
I hope that if it does it doesn`t ruin your business.

they'd have to sell it as well for that to happen .. which they dont .. so no chance unless CCP specifically add it as special rewards .. which I somehow doubt they will . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Anyone remember how much Miner II's cost when only a few corps could build them ? Anyone check the price recently? To be the first on your block to own that new tech II snurgle blaster will cost ya. To be the third on your block to own one a month later will cost ya a LOT less.
Also rememebr some poor sod has probably been doing agent missions for quite some time to get this BP. Now it's is or her payday. They will milk it for whats its worth for as long as they can. More power to them!

Scragg, baby, you are so wrong, I'm nearly wetting myself here :-)
Let's take this chance to show people how to do business without ****ing anyone off, shall we? It may not be the way _some_ people do business, but hey, we're not the least bit like Techell in a myriad of very good ways.
Detailed princing info on Friday.
And no, Kabara is no poor sod, in fact she is - like all of us - financially quite comfortable, has not spent herself beyond her powers and the only things we're milking this for are (a) good will and (b) an opportunity to demonstrate decent business practices.
What must the world be coming to?

It seems to me that a conservative estimate of what these ships will cost is between 2.5 and 3 mill isk. I can't say that i like it but it seems to me that a selling price of 5 mill isk is not unreasonable. However, i can't see these ships ever making anyone rich. There just wont be the market for them. I am actually considering holding out for the next type of elite frigate. They should be a more usefull ship

Im just having a difficult time deciding to train Caldari Frigate 5 or Minmitar Frigate 5. I have 2 days left for evasive 5 so I am still wondering. That Crow looks good now... but I anticipate the Vigil Covert Op ship too. Damnit CCP these ships are cool.... and I con't care what they cost... they will find their niche believe me.

If these babies really have the Jump to Ship ability that they are roumored to have. THey will be worth a lot more. So what if you loose a 4M frig, if you just have time enough for the rest of the gang to jump to the interceptor and TaDa(*music*) you are in the heart of the enemy fleet...
