I've been spending more time in low sec belts just because the pirates are better, and often more sporting, with alot less childish smack and even some good advice Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve-Forums:

Its just changed, sit in a cosmic anomolly and make sure you shoot all the wrecks of the npcs that aggro you and chill, it doesnt take long for some greedy nub lookin for faction loot to get molested by you. They just dont sit in the belts anymore because the npcs are 3x better and more potentially 100x more profitable..

I've had much luck. Its my fourth day and I have netted a 2mil, 4mil and 7mil isk items from the NPC spawns. I have also had the pleasure of being destroyed within five seconds of encountering a player, which is exciting too.

I still keep finding heaps of targets in belts, would be very hard to say its dead.
Tonight I found a retriever mining out a belt, he was guarded by a cyclone and a drake. I went right for the barge, getting a point on him and then killing him in about 5 seconds. Then I put a point on the cyclone and killed him fairly quickly as well.
I had a very long fight against the drake, with him pulling logoffski a couple times and coming back to see if I was still attacking him. I ended up killing his drake + pod It was one hell of a long fight- on that note- im getting more gank ASAP.
I must give these guys credit as when I usually warp into a mining op, the "guards" are warping out of the belt at the first chance they get. The guards probably did have a chance to get away, but they actually tried to fight. They were not complete noobs, and were members of an established corp that gave out a lot of t2/best named loot.
There are plenty of other places to find people such as missions or cosmic anomalies, but I already basically consider the anomalies to be "belts" because they show up on the directional scanner and eventually the belts will no longer be static and you will have to use the onboard scanner.
I understand how people get frustrated finding targets and turn to things like camping gates or stations, but that is by no means the only way to get kills. I think the answer is really to boost low sec, and limit the ability of people to make isk in high sec with no danger- especially chinese farmers, then you might even catch me ratting out a belt

No, its not dead. It will never die. I've seen posts like this almost weekly since I joined the game 2 years ago. Belt piracy isn't like other professions, the targets are rarer, and the really big hits rarer still. Some days are slow, some are ripe with kills. It's how it is now, it's how its always been.
'Nuff said.

when I go "pirating" I love finding traps. The only fun PVP is when you land on a trap, and their friends come in to help them. You actually get good fights like that- or at least I have. Killing the odd drake, or brutix, out there is also lots of fun, specially in AF's and inty's.
It all depends what you want to do.If youre looking to make money, and kill noobs, then ya, itll take a while before u land on something worth ransoming.
otherwise there is lots of PVP- and im assuming thats what youre looking for- killing random noobs that cant fight back sucks and is boring. I like having close calls. Or tight battles where you dont know the outcome.

Lol, you got the traps part right ;)
Just about half a hour ago, I spot a Rifter in Vard, land on top of it and gank it (and the pod). Well, the moment I'm finished looting him and picking up the corps, a Pilgrim warps in on my lil Rifter. I warp out to a safe. Rifter agility
Then, I noticed the Pilgrim pilot switched to a Curse, so basically, I align, get up to top speed, and wait. Sure thing, five minutes later, he warps in on me, and I warp out. After a bit of chasing, I make a new safe. A couple of minutes later, his friend in a Malediction warps in on me. I warp out.
Fortunately, at that point, my countdown was over so I could finally bugger out. Who spends 15 minutes probing out a Rifter, though?

I can't say that I've been belt pirating a lot, mainly because no one uses the belts where I live. Those who do often have a gank squad next door, or some corpmates in system. Taking the bait and seeing what happens is always fun though, even if nothing explodes on either side.
Finding people with a willingness to PvP is getting harder and harder these days, to the point where the only fights that really get my adrenaline pumping are the ones where we're outnumbered by a decent margin. And even those are hard to come by, even when my corp only really flys in 2-3 man battlecruiser gangs most of the time.

I would do belt piracy but I'm not a "real pirate". Besides, if a member of RAK went into low-sec then surely EvE would suffer a catastrophic failure?

If you're short on targets, go after other pirates. No ransom, but better loot.
