Well some... uhm years ago I did a lot of missions for the Caldari Navy. Nothing wrong with that, but due to that my Gallente Federation standing is now -2.81. I donŠt want to do missions for Gallente, but is there either a way to raise Gallente faction WITHOUT losing Caldari... or is there a faction you can fly for which doesnŠt decrease ANY of the 4 main factions? I know years ago it was possible to fly for Interbus to raise all 4 factions, but thatŠs long gone. :/ Any ideas? I donŠt want to be shot when entering Gallente space. :P Oh and is there a Webpage which shows you what faction increases/decreases which faction when you do missions for them? Thanks in advance...

Edited by: Skiving Larry on 16/09/2007 15:29:12 Doing missions for the Minmatar will help gallente standings as will SoE (but they're in 0.0)
you might find that a couple of levels of diplomacy skill (improves -ve standings) will get you high enough for some Lvl 1 gallente agent action.
Edit: Min or SoE missions will lose you Caldari standings, but not as fast as Gallente missions will.

SoE will only lower your (Caldari) standings marginally.

SOE has stations in 0.0, lowsec and high sec. No idea on the distribution of agent levels though.
The factions won't shoot you on sight til your standing is -5 or lower, after diplomacy, and even when they do, it isn't a CONCORD-like experience, it's more like a couple of frigates and a cruiser chasing you around.

Diplomacy at level 5 will only gate your factions standing from -5 to -2.
Need to do missions for friends of Gallente (info their standings tab) and get derived increases, and decline storyline missions of its enemies (from CCP's player guide) I am getting into the same situation, I will need dimploacy 5 to have a Gallente standings of -1.68.
When calculating the standings increase, don't forget to count the difference from 10. if you are at -2.81 and train diplomacy skill to level 4 its calculated like this:
[ ((10) - (-2.81)) * (4 * 0.04) ] + (-2.81) = -0.76

So there is no way to increase Gallente Faction WITHOUT decreasing Caldari? :/ As I said I do not want to run missions for Gallente now... I am just worried, if I continue doing Missions for Amarr or Caldari, one day Gallente will shoot me no matter what. :p I do have social skills to a degree btw...

Ah, you are ok then. Just train some diplomacy, and dont go shooting gallente ships.
Derrived standings wont take you below how one faction feels for another (ie -5 for gallente-caldari).
And with some diplomacy, that is going to be higher than -5, and you have to be lower than -5 for the navies to shoot at you.

and decline storyline missions of its enemies (from CCP's player guide)
That does NOT work. I tried that, purposely failing an Amarr storyline mission. I lost .5 standings with Amarr faction, and gained nothing with either Gal or Min. So I don't think declining / failing storylines helps at all.
However, I am not losing any standing to Gallente or Minmatar when successfully completing Ammatar storylines, which is nice ^^

I would petition that. I just read that in the player's guide for faction standings today. It did not say storyline, but it said "Important" missions. I have declined storyline missions before and never had a loss. Perhaps it should have been declined rather than failed. But - its in the player's guide right now.

There is one other option. Team up with someone doing Gallente missions in a gang. Split the rewards. The standing increase is also split for that mission owner's corp (and loyalty points) if the mission owner tells the agent that him and his gang did the mission. Once you get enough standings with that corp you might be able to start out with level 3 missions and rebuild standings from there instead of from level 1 or level 2. Storyline standings increases are not shared in the gang, only the mission owner.

Declining a storyline did nothing 1 way or the other (for my Amarr or my Gal standings), however I lost standings when I purposely "failed" it mid mission to see if it bumped my Gallente standings up.

1- It takes really bad standings to get another faction to shoot at you (with diplomacy skill), and even then it's a minor annoyance unless you wanna go afk in a staionary untanked ship.
2- I think your standing with your races faction (Caldari fot either of us) is capped at -2.0, mine has stopped going down there, and your races ally at -5.0 (Amarr is you're Caldari). So you'll always be able to work for your native faction, no matter how you abuse them.

I am Gallente with -2.81 Gallente Federation, so it certainly can go under -2.0 for your race's faction.

hmm, it must be something else then, but my Caldari standing wont go down (not that I want it too). maybe it's because it's my highest standing with one of the big 4 factions, must be some reason for it to show standing changes but not change.

In fact, the more you are missioning for a faction, the more you get closer to it's standing toward other faction.
I did a lot of lvl4 for caldari faction, so i get the right standing of Caldari state, and was KOS by gallente faction :) (- 5 gallente and -2 matar, never less) cf: http://eve.mondespersistants.com/?article=23
I just did courrier missioning for sister of eve (in empire only) and the story line raised my gallente and matar standing too. Now i have got lvl 4 fight agent, and my caldari standing still 7.7+ (and got lvl 1 gallente agents).

in this case, train diplomacy if you have to to 5 already and have -2.81 then do misisons for Minmatar and the important ones will raise you gal standings. [will also drop caldari ones a bit]
I've been told by gm that failing important missions for the ememiees of the ones you want will rise your standings. but I managed to fix my gal standings via the minmatar way.

Interbus is the only faction friendly to all four empires (SoE is friendly to everyone except Amarr). You probably won't increase your Caldari or Amarr factions (since they are probably higher than what standing increases with interbus give), but it should help with Gallente and Minmatar as well as some of the other nonpirate factions.

I have been sending the same question to confirm that through the petition system for game questions, and the GM's are saying something differently but I think they are thinking of some exploit. I and just sent this link and text for them to confirm.
Officially, this is what Eve Support webpages say:
What are my standings and what do they do?
Quote: If that skill's bonuses do not suffice to bring you back up above -2.0, though, you are going to have a hard time raising the standing. It can still be done, by doing important missions for allies of that faction or by intentionally declining/quitting/failing important missions for that faction's enemies, but it's going to take quite a bit of work and time.

OK - a GM finally understood what I was specifically talking about.
And - what I linked before - it now removed from the knowledge base. So - the storyline thing can not be done, CCP was late to removing it from the knowledge base.

another option is to gang with someone who is running missions for the faction you want to improve. i believe that if you are out of the system you won't cut into his bounty money but when he turns in the mission you will split the standings bonus. you'll have to work out the reward for the other chap. one of the fellows in our corp is working up minmatar standings for an industrial char that way and he's paying a flat fee per tenth of a point of standings increase.

Only gain corp standing for this, towards the NPC corp the agent belong to, not faction standing. But its a nice way for people that want to use a agent of oposite faction to obtain an agent to recover lost faction standing.
