Geddon is a great gank boat, but 3 mids + small grid = make baby jesus cry when trying to fit a sniper. Besides, the Aba IS supposed to be the Amarr's fleet ship, but its performance with Tachs is a little erratic (great DPS/Alpha for a minute, and then wet noodle damage for the rest of the fight).

I am going to burst the OP's bubble.
To do a tach-abbadon, you have to sacrifice its tank. Like all the ships in eve there is a balance between a gank setup and a tank setup. If you want tank on an Abbadon fit Mega Pules or Mega beams. If you want gank then fit Tachs, PDU's, only two armor hardeners and three cap recharger IIs. If you want more tank or easier fitting, use the missle hard point for a cruise launcher and drop a tach.
The abbadon is fine the way it is. Honest. You just need to think outside the box.
P.s why isent this in the "Ships" forum.

Its not thinking outside the box, its having to cripple your whole ship just to be able to shoot.
Its rediculous that amarr have to sacrifice so much in their ship just to be able to hit f1-f8 and have reliable damage. I never said I wanted tank, in no part did I say that. All I wanted to do was be able to shoot and the abaddon can barely do that.

You cant balance in a vacuum, you have to balance against other ships. You realize of course that you're doing roughly 300 DPS more than a fleet fit Mega could ever hope to get, right? Here lets try comparing two fittings that are actually comprable:
All Level V Skills
Megathron:
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I [empty low slot]
[empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot]
425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM 425mm Railgun II - AM [empty high slot]
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Abbadon:
Heat Sink II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Reactor Control Unit II [empty low slot]
[empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot]
Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma Tachyon Beam Laser II - Gamma
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Relevant stats for comparison:
Slots Free: Mega: 3 Rig, 4 Mid, 1 Low, 1 High (utility slot, usually stuck w/offline rep) Abba: 3 Rig, 4 Mid, 1 Low
So as far as slots that count are concerned you've got parity
Fitting: Mega: 2334/153 PG/CPU free Abba: 486/253 PG/CPU Free
PG is admitably low for the abba--you wont be getting a MWD in with that, but Mega does have to contend with CPU issues.
Cap Balance: Mega: +3.6 cap/s Abba: +1 cap/s
These are the minimum setups for cap stability
Effective HP: Mega: 44,508 Abbadon: 47,724
Not really significant difference. Abba wins slightly.
Damage: Mega: 502/2770 DPS/Volley Abba: 513/4133 DPS/Volley
This is as close as I could really get it. Abba pwns the mega on Alpha. Abba has the option to step up the dmg with one higher grade of ammo (multi)
Range: Mega: 36/30=66 Opt/Falloff=Opt+Falloff Abba: 41/25=66 Opt/Falloff=Opt+Falloff
Range parity with ammo listed. Abba is in optimal longer. Mega will get slightly longer when you take it out to long range ammo.
So what do we have at the end? Two ships that are roughly equivalent to one another with slightly different options if you feel like going to the extreme. The Mega has a few more fitting options and can shoot a bit further, but has maxed it's damage while the Abba gives up some fitting options and cap stability but can achieve a DPS that's 150% that of the Mega and doesnt have to worry about ammo. They are the same, but different...shouldnt that be the goal of a well balanced ship?
Stop your whinging.

Why, because it's a different tier? That's horribly closed minded and there are still a ton of fleet fit megas hanging around because of the tracking bonus, a fact which is increasingly important the shorter the range. As the OP dealt with short range ammo I'm guessing that's kind of important.
Level V Skills: Mega 425 Tracking: 0.01653 Hyp 425 Tracking: 0.01202 Abba Tach Tracking: 0.0174
So why dont you argue against the presented argument rather than some strawman just because they happen to be in different tiers.
Edit: Besides, it's the devs stated goal to have the mega be the gal rail boat and the hyp the blaster boat. So it would stand to reason that they would balance the amarr fleet ship (abbadon) against the gal fleet ship (mega). People using hyps in fleets are just trying to accomplish what the abba does (more damage) with a slightly different penalty (tracking instead of cap).

the devs specifically said you couldn't gank and tank the abaddon at the same time and this holds true. a fleet tachyon abaddon will do 646'ish dps with T1 lasers and has no problem with fitting a full rack of T2 tachyon's with one rig.
stop being a whine bag and asking for a fleet sniper that can tank/gank.

While i do think that the cap use of lasers is just teh suck (yup, really bad pun) and does probaley need tweeking just to boost amarr in general... i'm not really seeing how being able to alphastrike 5000+ damage for 21 minutes solid and never running out of ammo is bad -

People seem to be forgetting some very important modules needed for sniping.
High: 6x Tachs Mid: 2xSB, 1xTC, 1xMWD(for 0.0) Low: 1xLAR, 1xDMC, 3xTE, 1xHS, 1xRCU (all t2)
Adding 3x CCC will add a pretty 100m pricetag, and not do you much good. Cap will last anywhere from 40-80seconds. Then warp out and recharge for 2-3min, back for another 40seconds of mayhem.
