So ya set up a blog that looks newspaper-ish, you have an editor who is responsible for the overall content, a few "reporters" who can filter stories coming in, and you encourage players to write content. Sounds a relatively easy operation once you have the people.

Ship of the week? sounds cool, are you going to do each ship once or include different fittings? I.E. would you do a passively tanked mission drake one issue and then a bit later on do an active tank pvp drake, or just do the drake one time, with an overview of the different options for fitting it? I'd be willing to help out with this section, though most of my experience is with caldari ships.
As for stocks and bonds, I didn't even know they existed in EVE, other than scams... ----------

I would like to see some reporting on how CCP increasingly commercializes EVE. For example, I'm pretty sure this latest tourney was the first time they didn't offer downloadable videos. Why not?
Well, this time was also the first time they included ads in the videos. If we had downloadable videos then we (the viewers) could simply fast forward through the ads (like Tivo). With the way CCP distributed the videos this time, we were forced to watch the ads in real time.
Also, as Eve continues to grow the servers have a harder time supporting the new players. So server lag is getting worse. Now I frequently lag 1-4 seconds in sparsely populated systems like Aphend with 30-40 in local. This isn't right.
Then there are systems like Jita....
Actually, this is the first time that the tournament had every match available, for free, the day after. And they're still there. But hell, a girl's gotta whine...

It's a perfectly possible goal but be prepared to put alot of work in if you're really serious. You'll also need thick skin because people will go bonkers over the slightest inaccuracies (perceived or real) when reporting on things like major battles.
What other areas of the game should be reported on? Everything, have a nice wide mix subjects to get stuck into.
Do you belive that people would actually read it? Depends on the quality of your writing and its presentation. If you get it right you'll get plenty of readers. It'll probably be slow at the start but if you do a good job you'll do well.
Should we charge a fee weekly for it? Bad idea honestly, even if it's a small fee people just won't be willing to part with isk. Donations may be a better choice but keeping it free is the best way to spread it.
How often should we publish the paper? Once a week is probably a good idea. It gives you a chance to report fairly recent news but without being put under too much pressure to find items worth reporting and so being forced to run with junk news.
Ideas...
Section based on following the major wars etc. Very difficult to pull off and easy to be branded as biased so it's critical to remain neutral and use the appropriate language.
Section on game changes, dev blogs the latest forum "drama" topics (depends on how ingame you wish to keep it).
Small sections on corps, their history and the people involved and possible larger alliances.
Economic information.
Recommended guides (plenty to be found on various forum sections).
Questions and answers section? Player feedback section (players can send in mails about previous articals and you can address them - stuff like that).
Anywho, good luck.

Edited by: Cilvius Sanctus on 21/09/2007 00:18:24 Still need more reporters? I'd be interested in reporting from the Economic side. Or, if you're taking some of Wild Rho's suggestions, I could also write about Dev Blogs and recent/upcoming changes. Send me an EVE Mail.

I suggest you add some clever code to determine when the site is being viewed from the IGB and present a compatible version.

I would think this a good read. There are alot of interesting corps out there, who are not so well known because they have not been big forum *****s, but have an interesting history. It can be defunct or currently active corps, as long as you talk to those who were actually in it for the facts.
