Fools. It's a Caldari vessel, meaning it's built from the bottom up with efficiency of form in mind. Aesthetics are an extremely distant last because of the Caldari efficiency philosophy, in comparison to the drab Matari vessels, whose builders had to mass produce vessels under harsh conditions to defend their freedom. The one an only deviant in the Caldari line is the Scorpion, for which it can be argued that it was designed for psychological shock value (and perhaps the Moa as well).
These are not your Gallentean engineers who probably double as fashion designers on their free time, or Amarrian engineers who add lavish religious symbols to their vessels to honour their God.
Get with the program and read some backstory, punks.

If that was a fact then all caldari ships would be cube's or a sphere shape more or less borg type ships that are based on efficiency only.
Caldari ships are made by a 5 year old given toy blocks you get the kid to toss them around and what ever shape he can make is turned to a caldari ship IE the raven. !

I like the Ravens design... It's asymmetric, but it's balanced asymmetry. It just looks like it was designed purely to kill you, your family, the neighbor's dog, half the planet...
And the spikes in the front look wicked & potentially packed full of powerful electronic equipment. Am I the only one who thinks the Raven looks cool even if it does bear a slight resemblance to a porcupine? ___________

Everyone misses an important fact about the Raven's ugliness.
The problem is not that the Raven looks ugly - the problem is that its ugliness comes from the fact that the ship's 3D model was amateurishly constructed. The 3D modeller/designer did bad work on this particular ship.
For example, the Dominix looks very ugly as well. (I've heard many people call it ugly anyway ) But the difference is that you can tell the creator of that ship skillfully crafted that ugliness.
Summary:
Many ships in Eve are purposefully ugly because that is their intended character.
The Raven is ugly because it was amateurishly designed.

Oh because I guess with your unlimited skills and talent you would have done an awsome job there. Criticizing is easy, art is difficult.
And even if you are an amazing designer praise all around the planet this is no ways to talk about other peoples work, man

Fun fact: hold your right hand up, ball it into a fist, and then crook the pinky out
congratulations! you have made a Moa
and yes, the Raven model is hideous. Some Caldari models do look very cool (Merlin, Caracal, even Scorpion come to mind) but the Raven is not just ugly but also completely boring.

I think what they are telling you is that they understand the backstory and the fact that Caldari ships are in general big lumps of grey metal with odds and ends sticking out. But even looking at it through the eyes of a Caldari designer, the thing's still damn ugly.

snide arrogant insults based on a fictional backstory to an optional RP game on03s.
doesnt change a thing about the raven and moa (among others) being ugly ships. "utilitarian" and "built without aesthetics in mind, only function" are all well and good, but seeing as they perform pretty much the same functions as other ships in the game, just slower, it looks like the caldari designers could do with an update. maybe some good looking ships would be more effective (just look at the rokh and drake).

I sorta like the ravens shape. It would maybe look better symetrical but I dunno... It just looks like an internet spaceship... Rather than a phallus/whale/sailing boat.

All they need to do for the raven/scorp/moa/blackbird is cut it right down the center where it should be. (in the head of the raven/not wing of the blackbird/top of the scorpians tail) Nature doesnt make birds lop sided, and you shouldnt name ships after them if theyre going to be, its just not natural!!!
That being said Yo mamma's so ugly she fits two cloaking devices on her raven

The saddest part about the scorp's ugliness is that if you added a symmetrical left wing, it'd be pure sex. I'd fly only the Scorp for the rest of my days if it had that damn left wing. I think I'll learn photoshop just so I can post pictures of Caldari ships made symmetrical.

I like the look of the raven, especially from a distance.
Any sci-fi fan knows it's a pretty evil look coz they look a lot like the Shadows vessels from Babylon 5, though slightly less organic. Considering all the caldari missile boats look "stabby", I think the Raven fits in to caldari design philosophy well.
And yeah, it looks great IMO. State Issue Raven makes my trousers shift
