For the USA we have the 2 hour (or is it 4?) movie of the Pegasus back-story.
Then season 4 starts in Jan 2008.

I've not heard of this new B5 movie. What's it called?
On the other hand, I was physically unable to watch legend of the rangers for more than half an hour, so maybe I'd be better off not knowing.
And back on topic: BSG is fecking awesome when it's not a filler episode. --------------------------------------------------------------------

I was pretty late to the BSG party. (Had the same pre-opinion of an earlier poster; concerns about being a re-make of a 70's series)
This show is just amazing.
Sure, there are a few weak episodes (Black Market, anyone?) and some arcs that didn't cut the mustard (compared to others)... but overall, this has been very exciting so far.
I'm now all the way to the end of 2.5 (NetFlix doesn't have Season 3 yet), and I've just found out that the Sci-Fi Channel website has some "webisodes" to view that take place between 2.5 & Season 3. (Haven't watched them yet... though that's the project for this weekend)
My fave episode is "The Captain's Hand"... at least, I think that was the name.
I'm rambling... but goddam, I love this show. _______

Quote: According to reports from ComicCon and a radio show, Lee Adama will grow a beard and do more civilian things, Chief Tyrol will shave his head, and Admiral Adama will fly a Viper [8].
If that is true, then I doubt that season 4 will do the show much justice. What will be next? Will the Cylons launch of horde of vampiric monkeys to wipe out the human race

I hope so as it needs to end when it's going well and not just be milked until it dies a death.

More likely, it would have ended a season on a cliffhanger, then get canceled. See also: Farscape.

I'm a Stargate, B5, ST:DS9 and BSG fan. This re-imagined series seems to be tipping the scales at the moment, but they're all different in their own way, not worth comparing! BSG is, instead of a disaster movie, a disaster series, and they really get deep into RL politics in some of their episodes. B5, much more in the way of cosmic good and evil, explicitly so, but great comedy in it.
I'm just literally about to watch the last episode of season 3, I took a break from watching the last DVD and found this thread by surprise! Exodus pt 2 was immense. Love this series, can't wait for the next. ---------------

Ok, watched the last episode - no spoilers, and please no-one else post any, but I think everyone that sees it can let out a collective "What the fu...?!" at the end.
And I'm waiting for that soundtrack too :) ---------------

I saw it wouldn't be coming out til October 23rd and I was like "damn".
I can't wait.
Anyway, BSG needs to be appreciated at a higher level than "OMFG THEY JUST TOTALLY NUKED/SHOT/BLEW UP THAT BASESTAR" if you want to get everything out of it. Though the series has the best space battles evar, the real story is about the characters.
IMO, "Scar" has been the best episode of the series so far, Although Exodus pt. 2 was really good.

Indeed, Exodus part 2 has been one of my favorites, but then again I'm a sucker for epic battles.
When I first watched the series I was weirded out by the fact that the Battlestars have no shield of any kind, hehe.

it is CONFIRMED that BSG#4 will be the last one. this is a good thing. when they did 1-3 they didn't really know when it would end, thus they "strayed" a lot with the script. basicly they were not too focused.
producers allready said in interviews that they are happy they decided that it's the last season, because every single episode will have to be top cuality, as they won't have chance to extend it.
on a personal note tho, i believe that if #4 is such good cuality than they claim... they will have a ****load of millions of new fans... ergo: money: ergo they will have to continue.
however, it seems that there is a spinoff planned, called CAPRICA which is a miniseries of some kind just about the cylon occupied caprica.
BSG#4 starts feb 2008 i think. no idea about movie or miniseries release dates. but i encourage u to use google to get info, and common sense to find out which info is just fake and crap and which is not.

Huh? Are you watching the re-runs - or where are you watching it. I just hope a particular character stays dead.
The series does a lot of times fall on its face because they never do explain the history or the motives of the cylons for this series. To be honest, season three still has too many loose ends that one last season will not be able to tie up, let alone create an ending. So, I am not expecting much out of the last season, except giant plot skips that are already apparent through the first three seasons. The plot skips are tolerable, if the series would have lasted 6-8 seasons. But it just looks like the last season will have to rush through a timeline or just ignore existing story arcs.

That's kind of the point of BSG...countless enigmas that keep us guessing. Very much like Lost in that respect.

Yes, that is good for story arcs but after three seasons we know what the humans are looking for and why, but have no idea why the cylons are looking for Earth and what they think is actually there. I thought BSG was great because they did have so many things to create stories with, but they are not going to finish them in one season.

u can't really compare TBH
one is a remake, has 3 seasons so far (spinoff and #4 comming soon) with few a quite famous actors too, the other one was cancelled on TV and only finished on DVD, has one movie and didn't pass first season (probably coz the movie kills a couple of main chars)
i LOVE firefly... but i also love BSG. and looking forward for heroes#2 (not miniseries) and lost#4

I believe that the Cylons are looking for Earth as they wish to colonise it. Basically, the Cylons are pretty confused about their nature. First they saw themselves as the children onf mankind, then they tried to love with humans as their saviours. After all that got screwed up they decided to colonise Earth in desperation.

Bleh. Firefly is basically just a watered down sci fi for casual sci fi people. It's jsut a film about the wild west set in space. Not that's not perversely entertaining. It's way beneath BSG.

And BSG is nothing more than watered down modern politics with some flaky derivative theology which has yet to say anything worthwhile. Not to mention having some of the flakiest character arcs seen in a non-daytime time slot. The Cylons are nothing more than a joke and nearly every character has been pushed passed the 'flawed' mark into the realm of complete inconsistency. There are maybe four characters who still have some breathe of integrity in their arcs and two of them have turned out to be Cylons. BSG should have stuck to the central storyline instead of weakening its credibility with countless branches that went no where, except bruising the aspects of the show that are actually intriguing.
Putting any show 'way beneath BSG' is not something anyone should be doing. Especially one that BSG borrowed from without a thought. --------

It's quite possibly old info now but if you're interested:
"According to Moore, Caprica will take place 50 years before BSG and will be about the creation of the Cylons. The show will center around two families: one who owns the Microsoft-esque coporation that develops the Cyclon technology, and the family of Adama's father, a lawyer who starts to oppose the Cylons' creation."

Grew up on the old BSG. Was disappointed at first especially about the change of Starbuck who honestly tries too hard to act tough. Too much Top Gun and not enough sci-fi (use humans instead of robots to cut down on film costs, smart) The stories and filmography were pretty good so I kept watching and waiting for the battlescenes (bullets? WHERE THE HECK ARE MY FRIGGIN LASERS?!).
Then Baultar screwed Starbuck. Not as in betrayal but as in Mr. B is humping the chick.
Stopped watching after that.
EvE is my where my TV time goes.
